I like it for when I want to grab something while i'm at the office and don't want IT finding a torrent downloader on my computer.  Its kinda slow, but works well.

And why is this service useful ?

i can browse torrentz from work via TOR
i must not rely on torrent ports which are easily identified
i can d/l the stuff via TOR if I want or per http-download
in europe broadband / cable is far less common than in the US or Japan, so the download speed is not a primary concern
i am not SEEDING (which is the primary legal concern of most people).
i have 0 electricity costs for my mining rig.

that's how it is useful.

Apologies about the downtime guys. There was a problem updating php on the server, and it might take some time to fix. The site should be back online again within 24 hours after some unscheduled maintenance. Sorry if anyone has been inconvenienced.

thanks for providing a generally very available service.

Well it's generally unavailable nowadays. Maybe it's a coincidence but I haven't been able to use it for a while now. Either the torrent files don't show, the payment window doesn't appear or the downloads don't start. Different problems at different times of course, but haven't seen it working this week.

at the moment, all torrents show up with "size 0" (nice if they'd be model amirite?).

i am in no way trying to be a bitch here - but as customer AND investor...please fix and increas reliability!

There have been some issues with the hdd of the server. It's currently down since I attempted a server restart yesterday and the machine failed to boot. The support team at the hosting company I use do not work at the weekends, so I'm currently waiting for them to replace the burned out hard drive. All the code is backed up, so no need for alarm.

Things have been a bit choppy this week, I'll admit, what with the bitcoind issues and php crash but unfortunately this latest issue with the hard drive I cannot fix myself from 1200 km away. So I would like to ask all customers and shareholders to have patience while this issue is being resolved. Despite what some of you have experienced and posted about, in general bitcointorrentz has a relatively good uptime record.

I will post in this thread as soon as the site is back up and operational once more.

mjcmurfy really needs to get his shit together. Working constantly is tough, and I've been there myself, but this is no different than any other business, and you need to at the very least keep it running when you have shareholders betting on its success.

true, true.
I'd even support a motion to issue new shares for someone to maintain the site.

I fail to see the importance of your dividends over the dividends of other people.

If you're not content with how this venue is being run, I offer to buy your shares, orders are on glbse.

Gosh, please don't take my posts literal in every imaginable offensive way.

I only care about "my" dividends since they go to ME. I am fully aware that all other shares are rewarded the same amount. I wasn't trying to make my revenue seem more important than, say, yours.

That said, I am NOT content with how this venue is being run, that should be obvious. Are you?
I believe this could be a profitable business that is exactly why I did buy the shares.

I also posted that I'd be supportive of a motion to raisa capital to get it fixed/developed (magnet links anyone?).

No harm done.
Let's think of ways to move this bitch back to functional.
