UP doesn't own any NEM. He owns assets and as long as they stay in his possesion we'll just not issue NEM for his tokens.
The poeple who bought tokens that were already issued to stakeholders will get their NEM as promised allthough they will probably have to send them back to a different address not belonging to UP (in case he really does step down).

do u know how many stakes UP owns exactly? or does the dev team not know this either actually?

First off - I'm not a dev. At least not a core dev.
And of course noone new about the socks. This happend during a time when UP handled the registration all by himself (afaik).

Before this goes any further plz wait for the statement because I think it'll really clear some things up as his intentions really don't seem to have been all that bad.

I believe we will all soon be able to read some official statement  hopefully from UP but if not from him then some statement from the core team.
I see this incident as an opportunity to further strengthen the community. This is only a test for NEM. Somewhat unexpected but the best test are always like that.
We should also be mindful that at times like this all kinds of trolls emerge and want to further destabilize the community and push their own interests.

As many have said before me, we need to calm down and be patient. Dear fellow nemsters, let us show patience, kindness, respect and perseverance in times like this. Let us show our support for the whole core team and most importantly a really great project. There is no place for fear because of this incident.

I bet 99% of the guys who are making a big issue of this are large holders of NXT. They finally got their chance to take some form of legitimate shots at NEM.

When NEM stakeholder list were cleaned from sockpuppets, it was made with quite soft hands ... many have been looked "through fingers".
