https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1831796490223907327"BTW the above also applies to L2 tokens or other project tokens I hold (incl not-yet-liquid): all proceeds will be donated, again either to support public goods within the ethereum ecosystem or broader charity (eg. biomedical R&D). I also do not intend to invest into L2s or other token projects in the foreseeable future. My goal with giving projects money is to support things that I think are valuable, especially in cases where other parts of the ecosystem might undervalue them. Going forward, I plan to just do this with donations."

https://cointelegraph.com/news/new-eip-speed-up-ethereum-block-creation-timesNew Ethereum proposal aims to increase throughput by 50% "If approved, EIP-7781 may reduce block times to 8 seconds from 12 seconds, increase blob capacity and make decentralized exchanges more efficient. A new Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) would slash block times on Ethereum by 33% and increase data capacity — increasing overall throughput by 50%, developers claim. Introduced on Oct. 5 by Illyriad Games co-founder Ben Adams, EIP-7781 aims to slash block times on the Ethereum network to eight seconds from 12 seconds, increase the latency of based rollups and boost the capacity of blobs — a temporary data structure to reduce layer-2 network fees. In an Oct. 6 post to X, Pseudonymous developer Cygaar said EIP-7781 would be the “first huge” step toward improving the base layer of the Ethereum network, as the bulk of developer focus is being herded toward Ethereum layer-2 networks as scaling solutions. https://cointelegraph.com/news/ethereum-over-100k-tps-the-surge-vitalik-buterin"Ethereum, L2s to reach over 100K TPS with the 'Surge’ — Vitalik Buterin Some of the “key goals” of the Surge are to achieve over 100,000 TPS across Ethereum and its layer 2s and to increase interoperability, Buterin said. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined his goals for the Ethereum blockchain in the next phase of its roadmap, dubbed “The Surge.” In an Oct. 17 technical blog post, Buterin shared his “key goals” for The Surge, which include achieving more than 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) across Ethereum’s mainnet and layer-2 blockchains and increasing interoperability between layer 2s. “Ethereum should feel like one ecosystem, not 34 different blockchains,” Buterin wrote. I was reading up on The Surge a couple of days ago, it is making quite a lot of news. The article states: "One of the upgrade’s primary goals is to enable Ethereum to process over 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) across both Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) solutions" It will be interesting to see how the market reacts to the comments by Vitalik Buterin about Ethereum being one ecosystem and not 34 different blockchains.

https://fortune.com/crypto/2024/10/29/consensys-layoffs-ethereum-lubin/Ethereum giant Consensys slashes workforce by 20% as CEO blames ‘abuse of power’ by SEC "Consensys, the maker of the popular MetaMask crypto wallet, is cutting over 160 employees across all divisions of the company. Founder and CEO Joe Lubin announced the news in a blog post that attributed the layoffs to headwinds from the macroeconomy as well as legal expenditures from the company’s protracted battles with regulators. “Multiple cases with the SEC, including ours, represent meaningful jobs and productive investment lost due to the SEC’s abuse of power and Congress’s inability to rectify the problem,” wrote Lubin. “Such attacks from the U.S. government will end up costing many companies…many millions of dollars.” Lubin’s comments echo a widely held sentiment in the crypto industry that the Securities and Exchange Commission has operated in bad faith when it comes to setting out a clear regulatory pathway for digital asset companies. The agency’s head, Gary Gensler, says the SEC’s existing laws are clear and has filed lawsuits alleging securities laws violations against the crypto industry’s leading companies—including Consensys."

Ethereum is back @ $3k, it's now $3,191. And Vitalik has mentioned something about more about Ethereum, dig more about the news through the article; [...]Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin proposes “info finance” as a pioneering framework to harness blockchain and AI for factual insights.[...]
.....According to Buterin, “Info finance is a discipline where you (i) start from a fact that you want to know, and then (ii) deliberately design a market to optimally elicit that information from market participants.”....

The company behind the ENS blockchain domain service has cinched a plan to build its own layer-2 blockchain, dubbed “Namechain.” Namechain will be a zero-knowledge rollup, and will likely go live around the end of 2025. ___ There are more than a hundred of these layer-2s, and this is the reason why the developers decided to abandon the idea of sharding, and develop L2 and L3 solutions that will scale the ecosystem.

https://cryptonews.com/news/vitalik-buterin-devcon-2024-keynote-ethereum-is-the-world-computer/Vitalik Buterin’s Devcon 2024 Keynote: ‘Ethereum Is the World Computer’ "At the Devcon 2024 event in Bangkok, Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, spoke about his vision for the platform’s future, reinforcing its commitment to decentralization, scalability, and inclusivity. In front of a packed room, Buterin discussed Ethereum’s journey from its inception to its current position as a leading decentralized network and pointed to achievements in transitioning to the proof-of-stake (PoS) model and developing scalable, sustainable solutions. He noted that this evolution is central to Ethereum’s role as a “world computer,” an ecosystem fostering a diverse on-chain economy and a global community. One of the key elements of Ethereum’s evolution was the shift from proof of work (PoW) to proof of stake, an upgrade that marked a new era in blockchain technology. Ethereum is often called the world computer because it allows a decentralized network of computers (or nodes) to collectively run applications and execute complex computations without relying on a central authority."

Ethereum is back @ $3k, it's now $3,191. While Bitcoin is reaching phenomenal levels, Ethereum has added another couple of hundred USD$ to the price and is still trading under $3500. As far as use cases are concerned, Ethereum spawned many coins that did similar things but without doubt Ethereum is the most popular facilitating contracts however it is not currently being reflected in the price. in my opinion POS was a mistake and its centralized, contrary to his statement It is above 3000 dollars now but compared to others its in stasis still and underperforming SOL 1 years frame +340% vs ETH +58% + more tokens and activity tho on SOL chain which is meme-d3g3n haven now In terms of longevity, there is a long way to go before understanding whether it was a mistake or not. I think making comparisons with other coins is normal to gauge the market but in order to make a real comparison more time is needed to pass.

https://www.tradingview.com/news/u_today:baa481887094b:0-333-billion-in-ethereum-eth-held-by-only-104-people-57-of-all-coins/$333 Billion in Ethereum (ETH) Held by Only 104 People: 57% of All Coins "With 104 wallets containing at least 100,000 Ethereum, or a startling 57% of the total supply, Ethereum's whale dominance has hit an all-time high. This amount, which equals about $333.01 billion, raises questions about centralization while also indicating that the largest holders have a high level of confidence. Whale accumulation has historically indicated long-term bullishness. A belief in long-term upward movement is frequently demonstrated when important stakeholders increase their holdings. This is especially true for Ethereum, a nine-year-old asset that uses a sizable amount of its supply for its expanding DeFi and staking ecosystem. The overall distribution of supply, however, presents a contradictory image. "

Vitalik shills the Soneium blockchain(Co-developed by Sony and Astar Network) https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1879560670150017068"The @Soneium situation is a good live demonstration of how launching an ethereum L2 is great for businesses *and* users. Businesses can make very fine-grained choices around how much control they keep vs give to users. But whatever rules they choose, that's what the rules are. Everything is onchain, transparent, and auditable by third parties. You can make a very closed system where there's no escape hatch, and where the operator can edit the state root, but then users will know exactly what they are getting into, and @l2beat and armies of independent internet sleuths will help them. You can also make a fully open system. And you can also make a system where users know they can send a transaction on the L2 if they need to, but there's a large speed bump - the sequencer can throttle but not censor. This is effectively what Sony has done. This is all free market at play. The main thing we need to watch for as an ecosystem is to ensure that"

Ethereum developers aim for Pectra mainnet upgrade in MarchAhead of the mainnet upgrade, hard forks are expected on the Ethereum test networks in February. If the forks on the testnets go as planned, the mainnet rollout is expected to follow the next month. Ethereum developers aim to launch the network’s Pectra upgrade in March 2025, with specific milestones leading up to this mainnet fork. New client releases for the upgrade and hard forks on Ethereum test networks Sepolia and Holesky are expected by February in coordination with client software teams, according to a core developer call on Thursday. If the forks on the testnets go as planned, the mainnet rollout will follow the next month. While initially planned for late 2024, the scope of the upgrade expanded significantly, leading to a delay. https://www.theblock.co/post/335357/ethereum-pectra-march
