I cannot see a situation where Ethereum falls to zero but that does not mean it is impossible. Keeping that aside, even with the current market in massive decline (compared to how it was a few months ago), did anybody ever think Ethereum would be worth just $2000 today?

If Ethereum had managed to retain a good price when Bitcoin was trading for over $100,000, it would probably be in a much better position today. I think Ethereum investors are paying the price for the lack of growth when Bitcoin and other crypto was booming.

Claudia Biancotti from Banca d'Italia made a report "What if Ether Goes to Zero?" and calculated that this risk can cause over 800 billion losses. If not to focus on the number of losses, the scenario Claudia Biancotti made can be a vulnerability for any open blockchain: for one reason or another the coin's value could plummet and make minters make a decision of no longer supporting the chain and their nodes and selling their coins from the stake. This could trigger a cascading effect and lead to next dumping of the coin price and making 51% type attack cheaper and easier. Given that Ethereum operates multiple tokens with own rates besides ETH, all that in general can be compromised, so potential plummet of the price of ETH can cause a significant plummet for a huge part of crypto market.

Of course this is just a potential scenario and I even think that this scenario has very low probability. But it looks interesting anyway and makes you think...

I am making a kind of Probably Etchash Chain, and I just thought I would let Everyone here know. We are Creating a Graphene Clone Called MELEK that is like STEEM, HIVE and BLURT, then for our Tokens and DEX we are using both SMTs and like Aggroed’s Model, and merging it with our own ETH Chain, so ERC Type Tokens are our Tokens in our Graphene Environment, instead of a “Hive-Engine”.

Changes to Ethereum are bundled into upgrades every year or so, each with a codename. Glamsterdam is due later this year; Hegotá, which will include the Frame Transactions enhancement, follows it in 2027.
