Yeah right, bitcoin manipulation can happen. It used to happen in Mtgox. It seems that now the manipulation of bitcoin is occurring, as a result US Begin to Investigate Bitcoin Price Manipulation Case, the US Department of Justice (US) opened a criminal investigation into the possibility of market participants manipulating the price of Bitcoin and other (cryptocurrency) currencies,

The investigation includes an examination of spoofing practices, in which an investor makes an order intended to manipulate the price of an instrument, and flood the market with fake orders.

It is normal, I think...all the markets in the world, even my food market near my home here are affected by this thing. There are some guys, who has the 80% of all potato in the area, they are manipulating the price, lol.

I personally do not really believe in price manipulation. Has been proven before, but the question is here who determines the price?
I'm sure no one here knows that. Even if it happens, maybe it's just a coincidence. We here can only hope and be patient for the high price.

bitcoin prices are very likely to be manipulated in my opinion. Just observe the drama that happened last year around september? When bitcoin transactions were suddenly halted because miners shifted to bitcoin cash? That itself was a great example of manipulating the entire bitcoin ecosystem. The main problem seems to be that a small group of pools are controlling most of the mining activities around the world.

In any market there's always people that will try to manipulate prices. Be it in oil, forex and stocks where its market are in trillions. So how much more in crypto where it is only in hundred billion dollars.

maybe it just a false news that makes many people afraid and they think to sell their bitcoin with fast. but I think it could happen as we can see that the bitcoin price moves in any range of price. market crypto will give riskier than another market because we cannot control the market and maybe people which have big money will trying to move the price. but I believe that the price will be back to increase again and the false news will disappear.

It's not new exactly, it's happen with every market since forever. Whales are not a new term, they exist as long as markets exists, they manipulate with markets with their big bankrolls and with some help, they use news to manipulate with masses, rumor's, etc. Bitcoin as something new attracted many good people, but that's not all many bad people moved their illegal businesses on crypto. Don't blame bitcoin because it fluctuate, blame people, they do all the bad things. People ask when will it stop? Probably never, people can't be forced to be better, some people will be bad forever.

The market can easily be manipulated by top 1,000 holders of bitcoin and this indeed has happened before.
Some time ago panic was caused by the fact that a couple of whales sold bitcoins costing several hundreds of millions of dollars - this resulted in a rapid decrease of price in just a few hours.
I am not quite sure whether this was done intentionally (maybe they just needed some cash to buy a couple of luxury homes  ), but the result was a disaster..

I always thought that there's someone behind Bitcoin who manipulate or controls things. we may think it's decentralized but at the back of our minds we always think, who are those people. sooner or later we will all find out who are those people behind this manipulation.

Those people that have already concentrated the majority of Bitcoins and some other leading cryptocurrencies in their hands can easily manipulate the market.

I think there is no price manipulation, it depends on the trusted bitcoin market if there are many customers who buy our coins, then the price is expensive.
That's my opinion.

Prices of cryptocurrencies are depending upon the amount of investments take place in a market which increases the demand rate and this increase is necessary for sellers so that they may be able to get advantage of the high market and get huge profit. In the current market further investments should take place if you are Bitcoin holder at this stage then you should add more to your holding coins.

price manipulation is common, and this is often done by those who have a lot of money and have data from bitcoin buyers by desperately placing lots of holder to sell their tokens and then buy as much bitcoin to reap huge profits when prices rise drastically
and this is a fact for old players in bitcoin

We are in the world of market investment, anything can be manipulated by the Whales behind some legit company investors on the treed, if look at the social media news as posted, there some price manipulation and the government is into the process of investigation of the said issue, although, crypto currency digital transaction is Decentralized, we will never know if there is a confirmed data on this issue.

Agree. The so called BIG WHALES plays a great role in manipulating bitcoin price. Because they are the great holders of bitcoin and they can really make any strategies inorder to move bitcoin in a very volatile prices towards declining that could make tense to some small holders and dumped their bitcoin owned panickly.

Yes, I think price manipulation can happen if someone has a lot of bitcoin. they call them whales. In fact I've heard rumors that there are groups that hold very large amounts of bitcoin, they can control the market price on bitcoin. but I am more confident in the current market correction is happening. I believe market will rise again.

Price manipulation do happen, though I’m yet to understand how it works or how they do such, cause before I used to believe that price manipulation is when whales are investing huge amount of money and controlling the price, but this time around it seems like it something very much different from what I have thought. I have seen a lot of people talk about price manipulation so it does happen in crypto. The way it is, I don’t think you can do anything about it unless they are caught.

What makes me worried about this is that, bitcoin is not really legal that is why I don't think that even though there will be an investigation regarding the price manipulation, it won't easily be solved. Besides big whales have big power and I just hope that it won't use its influence to change the result of the legal investigation. It's hard if bitcoin will be manipulated because that might reduce the number of investors.

It could really happen since bitcoin operation is not regulated, big whales could actually put up big shares and eventually control the supply and demands of the coin. That is where the government should use their authority to balance and create a fair market for everyone. We have trusted the blockchain technology to benefit not only the rich, but to open up opportunity for people in all walks of life to reach their financial goal. Responsible marketing and fair operation will attract more bitcoin investors to build a stronger market for cryptocurrency.

Prices can only be manipulated when a large amount of bitcoin gets into the hands of few people, usually whales. They may control prices by making the prices dip when they suddenly begin to sell a lot of their bitcoin at very comparatively low prices so they can buy more bitcoin. They can also buy a lot of bitcoin suddenly with a relatively higher bid to raise prices.

In every financial related sector is that there would always be such people in the market and they are indirectly called the market makers. As far as I am concerned, it is a way for them to get the best of their investment since they know exactly when to accumulate and when to sell off. However, in the middle of it all, they get to find a way to trick traders based on some pattern and that is where I normally have problem with, but it is what it is, it is an unregulated market and until then, we live with it.

it maybe true that there is bitcoin price manipulation, but we do not know who is manipulating and how. which we know, why there is price manipulation because so that bitcoin prices down and investors who have large capital can buy bitcoin when the price is cheap. it's just an opinion, maybe somebody knows better.

I think it's possible.This is mainly done by whales.A favorite tactic of whales is called,,pump and dump,,.The essence of this tactic is to coordinate the artificial rise of a certain asset and a sharp reset at a price peak.Such manipulation of the market can often be seen in the example of altcoins, which have a relatively small capitalization, but a huge potential.
