I think it is, not because of the certificate you stand to have but, for the sake of the exposure that comes with it. You get to meet people from all around the country, coming with there differences and you learn from each other, build new relationships and could make a little connections that could bring you desired opportunities. I guess that's part of the education as well so, you know how to handle and relate to people not within walls better.

Lol sooner it is not the degree that will bring you work but your skill and ability , i have known many people that did not finished their college degree but since they are good in technology they are now having good Business in internet world.

Remember that we are getting closer and closer in computer operated world and people can manage learning thru internet and not from Schools.

In my opinion, if certain companies truly require qualifications from typical established schools rather than basing qualification on merit, then the companies wont really do well without relying on qualified people outside the companies to solve their problems, or they will probably cheat/steal ideas from others.
The typical established schools are not very good at training people to use their natural gifts or talents properly. You could easily build a workshop to train people to make things like bread, but typical schools will spend years teaching them and  the school students would end up going to workshop to learn to make bread.

This is more important than the professional knowledge learned (how many things in class can most people use after graduation). Ignorance is really terrible. A few years ago I met a few classmates studying at Imperial College. It was the first time I saw young people reading so many different books.
