I really hope it takes off and people start selling stuff for EBT.

That's correct.  We are working on currency conversion guidelines for buyers and sellers which looks at multisourced averages to help them list items for fair prices.  Users of the site, once it's completed, will be able to sell for any amount they wish and buyers will be contacting sellers directly so price negotiations will be possible between buyers and sellers.

Bitcoin is fairly easy since it's widely used, has numerous exchanges which allow transfer to USD.  As I said, our calculations will be based on multisourced averages updated at 30 minute intervals to help account for volatility.

The way the BTC conversion works is it will look at the 24 hour trades for BTC/USD price across 5 public exchanges and at the actual sales from 10 merchant sites that accept BTC, factor in each sources daily average BTC/USD amounts and that's where the BTC average price comes from.  This will be expanded as more of our current clients accept BTC or as more exchanges pop up.

The EBT conversion to USD (as well as any other altcoins we configure the market for) will work the same way.  I'll be honest with you, EBT isn't widely used yet so the average USD price for EBT right now relies heavily on only a couple of sources (PoloniEX, a small user base, and feedback from 2 brick and mortar clients of ours planning to list items for EBT.)

The rate conversion model is pretty solid I think and prevents price manipulation from any particular source.  If any sources average price differentiates from the other sources by X% it's not calculated in the average (so say the MtGox rate for BTC to USD X% higher or lower than the other sources, it's removed from the average or if one of the merchants is asking for 10 BTC for a $50 item, it's removed from the average).

Of course our calculations will only be suggested guidelines.  Again sellers are free to list items for any amount they wish, so yes DannyTom, you can try to sell your used socks for 0.05BTC or 300,000 EBT if you wish.

This is something the alt-coin market really needs!  I do have a concern though.

The one issue I see is people might balk at everyday items being listed for 40,000 EBT considering the total coin supply which means either the value of EBT will need to go up significantly on the exchanges or people will have to settle for less EBT than their item is really worth.

If I want to list my washing machine for EBT and I want $150 for it, how many people have 700,000 EBT to spend on it?  Would I be better off just listing it in the paper or online for $150 or just selling it on the site for BTC?

I'm not trying to be a naysayer, just pointing out that at EBT's current value and distribution, I don't think there's going to be a lot of people listing items.  On the other hand, I still think this is good because without it coins have no real value other than speculative investment.

Just noticed that the YouTube yacht commercial was removed on the website due to a violation of the TOS.  This looks bad for the coin and for the life of me I cant figure out why it would be removed in the first place.  Its a shame because it was such an awesome video.
