So what is everybody's general feeling about EBT? As we've seen with Mintcoin, Blackcoin and this one, they can quickly rise, but easily fall back again. SOme people in trollboxes say the coin is dead, but I still believe it has a lot of potential:

  • Strong community
  • Active Dev
  • Same price as MINT, but only 1% of the amount of that coin
  • POS
  • Often sees large rises in value

What do you think?

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Every coin is dead except BTC.

300+ crypto-currencies and other than trade up for BTC on some obscure "exchange" there's nothing else you can do with them.

However...

EBT has an active dev team, EBT has an infrastructure slowly being built so that you can actually use the coin (buy and sell real goods for it) and it's a well built coin.  As long as that keeps up, it will be profitable long term.

It took BTC 3 years before it became worth anything, don't expect EBT to make you a millionaire in 3 months without constant development, promotions and a solid infrastructure where people can easily use the coin to buy and sell stuff.

We're still in infancy phase of the altcoin market, indeed. Hope we can be one of the coins with a purpose. Smiley

We have no stake in EBT and aren't currently mining it but because of the communities stance against bribes for cryptos, the active development team,  the professional quality videos and an employee of ours who won't shut up about it we thought it would be good to include it in the marketplace we're developing.

Speaking of which, someone from our design team should be contacting the EBT devs soon regarding logo usage in some of the graphics for the marketplace.

Again no idea on the size of the EBT community, but our mobile development team is working with other mobile developers on an app for crypto currencies.  Think treasure hunt.  It only makes sense for larger communities, but wouldn't it be nice to know you're not the only person within 100 miles that uses EBT?

How much is PoS annually?

I think it is 10% per 90 days. After those 90 days, you can move it to another wallet to mint it again.

Quote
Proof of Stake explained:
100.00 EBT mature over a 90-day period.
From Day 1 through Day 30, there is no change, but the coins "age" in the background
On Day 30, Your coins become eligible for PoS minting
From Day 31 through Day 90, Your chances of hitting a PoS block increase. After day 90 your chances dont get any better.
When a Stake block is hit the input that was used gets locked for 25 blocks as the POS block matures. It is moved to the stake column and a transaction will appear in your wallet for 10 EBT
After 25 blocks your 100EBT is returned and your 10 EBT is confirmed leaving you with 110 EB

Just an update since it's been mentioned here by others (I just found out about it and didn't realize anyone knew about it yet) but yes we are creating a flea market site coming soon where world crypto-currency users can post items for sale and buy after contacting the seller.

The backend and testing will be under development through the middle of April and then the UI/UX will hopefully be completed by May for an official launch.

It was originally intended to support only the big 3 (in my mind) BTC, LTC and QRK.  When I say big 3 I'm really saying the 3 I have in wallets for as I'm not really into altcoins that much since last year, however, one of my employee's is a big fan of EBT and based on their vetting and the stand EBT took against paid voting on exchange sites, there will be a section specifically dedicated to buying and selling items/services for EBT as well.

I already have a local motorcycle apparel shop interested (I'm an avid rider with an 02 GSXR 750 and 99 Triumph Legend 900 for cruising) as well as a few clients and friends eager to get rid of junk for coins.

Hopefully the BTC, LTC, QRK and now EBT communities will find it as something useful and it will help take the coins beyond just a penny stock investment type scenario and other similar sites will follow.

Please keep in mind we're not part of any coin's development team, this is a private project for the betterment of the crypto community.  Also keep in mind I'm an old fart who doesn't really do web design/development anymore (retired) so this is as I said just a private project to help spread the word on alternative currencies.  Don't expect too much.

Best of luck to EBT.

EBT:  5jHd2eUEuvV5aDVoFrpMeGaG5fBe2Y4H5d  - HiBC Development Fund

Just a reminder of what these guys are doing: http://www.cryptofleamarket.com/home.php

We're one of the four selected coins which is great of course!

Question: Will you segment the products per region and country?

We probably won't segment by markets or regions at first but the features will be built in for once it gets busy.

You will have options to filter local sellers only by geography, public/private sellers to limit scams and increase trust, item types, values, etc.

We just don't want people showing up in the beginning and seeing 0 items in your area and getting put off by it.

In order for this to work, you have to have people willing to accept EBT for their stuff.  You can expect to see a lot more items being sold for Bitcoins than EBT, but at least there will be a platform for the coin to be actually used.

Is there anyway to find out how many EBT wallets there are or how many miners there are?  I know I'm using the ebt.dsync.com pool and last stat says 14 miners.  I don't know how many are using the p2p pools or solo mining but we definitely need more promotion, advertising.

I know the EBT Facebook page has 28 likes.  I think everyone here needs to share some of the memes that came out when the coin first started and the videos to draw up more interest in the coin.

I think of this photo every time I open my wallet and see stake deposits!

Anybody know the % of EBT coins mined till now...?

http://www.argakiig.us/blockchain/ebt/
145,292,458.98515 out of 250,000,000 so about 58% of the coins have been mined after about 4 months.

According to the rate engine we're developing 9718 EBT = $1 USD which is determined using a weighted average of the EBT/BTC/USD value across multiple sources

EBT is being actively traded on PoloniEX.pl  It's on other exchanges as well (check the first post) and is up for voting on:

swisscex.com
comkort.com

There's also the EBT Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/ebtcoin) and #EBTCoin plus a great write up on EBT @ http://blog.gryfencryp.to/2014/04/04/ebtcoin/

For all that I gleam about EBT in terms of physical, mental, and electronic work that goes into EBT why is it that via Market Cap the coin's price and volume are both extremely low?

Not a lot of people mining, so the diff is low. It is cheap to mine some of them.
