I´m in.
@balduro:
a) What´s the marketing concept to get the citizens involved? Any concrete plans?
b) Any PR partnerships (TV, radio, newspapers) are arranged already? They got notice from your project already?
c) How many devs/founders? Or it´s just a one man show?
d) How do you like to reach average Joe without any crypto knowledge?
e) What will be happen with the unclaimed coins from the 50% pre mined coins (I suggest to spread all of them to the participants with an deadline)?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Great first attempt. But I'm going to call a fail on this one as it doesn't meet neutral control . Should have been at least 90% premined with a verification of about one year. Then should have had an EQ reward. Scrypt is not bad as everyone can technically participate but much better would be either CPU ie Quark or actually Sha256 this way Icelanders would have been able to buy ASICs at least. A 50% premine and a fixed cap means that the "other" 50% can still be owned by large GPU farms or ASICs. Think about if the Government issued debt free currency they wouldn't issue just 50% That's where you are missing an official "inflation" rate . So close but no cigar, does not mean I still wont participate , you essential will have created a type of Bitcoin . http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/1416/neutral-control-principal-theoryIf you want to learn more about neutral Control have a read also if you are legit and want help or advice with this project Pm me.

This is starting to gain some coverage. I'm excited about it. Once I get my mining rewards I'll do some giveaways in this thread.

I'm willing to sell some. The supply is quite low. The Airdrop is 31.8 AUR per person, I guess I'll sell for 0.0412 BTC per Airdrop.

Fascinating experiment.
Mining now.
What will be needed at the time of airdrop are aggregated quotes so that writers can quote a price range for what the giveaway is worth. If exchanges are trading aurora coin by then, that should be easy; otherwise bid/ask from forums will have to suffice.
I would love to see the developers announce plans for the unclaimed sums other than personal profit. I'm all for them making some coin for the orchestration but at some significant portion of unclaimed coins after a year or so going to charitable organizations in iceland would lend credence and good PR to the movement.
Boring alt coins are boring. This one has a great idea behind it.
Nothing grabs people's attention like free money.

"Baldur Friggjar Odinsson" Your name looks like it's taken straight from the Edda, so got to be legit. I like the idea though (who can't love something Icelandic?), but how will you give the coins to every Icelander? If they need to claim them, I would be really surprised that every Icelander is on this forum and will read this topic and will claim the coins.

And now the second biggest news site in Iceland has an article about the coin. http://visir.is/auroracoin-dreift-til-allra-islendinga/article/2014140209342Not sure many starting cryptocoins get this kind of publicity so early on. Mbl.is and visir.is are the top most viewed sites in Iceland (Mbl being the most visited one). Mbl.is has about 190thousand daily veiws and Visir.is has about 160 thousand. And when this post is written, the article on Mbl.is is the 6th most read article today (being the 10th a few minutes ago).

interesting scope for a new currency, a whole country. And by the way, a country with low energy prices. And in March, that will be the biggest giveaway ever :-) this currency right now needs: * block explorer * pools nice to have: * faucets * online wallet * an addnode patch an addnode patch to the wallet download would automatically create/extend an auroracoin.conf in the %APPDATA% folder. before I added the nodes of page 1, the wallet did not sync

http://www.reddit.com/r/AURmarket/Some guy is offering to buy pizza for people in Iceland, he is offering 3.000 ISK for 30aur, so that's 1 aur = 100ISK = $0.87.
If we put that into www.preev.com it's 0,001078BTC for 1 aur. He changed it, I'm going to go get me some pizza.
