wth?? 50% premine and already it has market cap almost a billion bucks??
WHY is this coins so popular now?

Market cap is fake because it does not yet represent Supply vs Demand as the Supply is not 10.6 million coins atm it is only like 100,000 coins, wait for one week after air drop to see what the true price is when the trade-able supply increases about 60 fold.

I doubt auroracoin devs would wait that long. They will be dumping their premined coins untill it's worth 1 satoshi. Then the airdrop will commence. Or not. Who whould care

I can't believe it Cheesy People whine (call it scam, shitcoin, etc.) if the coin has 2% premine, but theres FIFTY PERCENT PREMINE and everybody cheers Cheesy

there is a 100% premine coin people like.

yes there are fears but if you read.. you will know why people cheer this coin.

if you read.

you will know why cryptsy added a 50% premine coin when it is hard as fuck to get a premine coin on cryptsy before the premine is dumped.

you can play stupid and not see why people are cheering.

it isnt like they dont understand the risks.

it isnt like we all dont fear the dev succumbing to temptation and dumping.

it ie because people know why it was premined and believe in the premise.. and really need it to work for all of alt coins sake.

other premines dont have an effect across the alt coin markets.

this one does

it is different.

that doesnt mean we dont know the risks

but you cant pretend that this is the same as 2% premined coins

because it isnt. (almost ZERO premines, promise to do anything but make themselves money.. er dev costs)

you can say promises mean shit.. and that is fine, but you cant pretend that this isnt different, because it is.

wth?? 50% premine and already it has market cap almost a billion bucks??
WHY is this coin so popular now?

short answer it isnt.. it is being pumped. It will drop and a lot as they move on.

longer answer.

This little experiment could be a major watershed event for the entire alt community. which is why the entire community is getting behind this coin.

Iceland is fucked right now with banking and inflation. People arent happy.

One of the inherent promises of crypto is that we are slightly protected from teh shanagins of those in power.

Crypto has a couple big problems right now.. it is complex and normal people dont understand and it scares them.

MTGOX didnt help things much. with the general public.

something like this coin being successful would be like a tidal wave across the markets.

Right now with Ukraine and russia you see the Ukrainian people dumping their rubles and picking up american dollars at a premium. They are pretty much losing money now, out of fear of losing more money later. A minority of smart ukrainians said fuck us dollars and changed to btc instead. They did not lose as much as those who converted to dollars.. plus they can move their money around to where they feel safe.. with dollars it can be a bit trickier and longer to do.

if aurora turns successful, instead of seeing people dump into dollars and gold when problems happen, they will dump into crypto.

plus if it becomes more than that, but as an alternative and FUNCTIONING market currency, that will just steam roll this entire crypto thing across the planet.

so basically it is very popular and everyone is behind it, because this is a tiny experiment, set to prove the CLAIMS of why crypto is so awesome.

It very well could bite the entire alt coin community in the ass if he runs with the money.

but everyone and their mother wants this to actually work.

well except the icelandic government which is shaking in their boots right now.

Finally a decent and sensible comment from a respected member, TNX!

Don't use this pool, it's a scam

http://aur.pool-a.net  -

They removed the manual cash out feature.  before they removed it the minimum was 0.1 AUR

I reported this to them saying it was excessive, the response was to remove manual cash outs

Total and utter scam ....  if the owners of that pool want to come on and discredit that then please feel free.

Put the manual cash out back and make it a sensible fee such as 0.005 like Cryptsy withdrawl fee  ...  sheer greed!

People like this discredit the whole community.......  idiots!!

Does anyone have any insights on where did the 60GHS hashrate of the AUR network came from?

The LTC hashrate has increased by 15% in the last few days, while DOGE hashrate is more or less the same. Where did the sudden 60 GHS popped up from? Where were these miners before? One would expect many miners would move from LTC and DOGE to AUR, which would consequentially decrease their network hashrates. But it doesn't seem like it. Remember when DOGE was on the upswing a month or so ago - the LTC hashrate dropped about 30-40% when miners migrated to doge.. Any ideas why this is so?

Please keep asking questions and try to work out the answers together! Rather then bashing others who are really trying!
Did you sell some of those 2000 AUR you claim to have?
At current prices is a lot of money.

The honest answer? Yes, I tested some exchanges. But I still hold 2000+

I know the difficulty is high and block times are (supposed to be) 10 mins but it seems no pool is getting close to the finding rate it should...is it all large solominers or what?

PS..I also agree that how do so many that cried bloody murder when other coins came out at 2%-10% premined but get behind something that is 50%!? Wtf is up with that?

"It very well could bite the entire alt coin community in the ass if he runs with the money." - this is what going to happen.

But anyway, I am reading the thread and still don't understand why is it an experiment? What is innovative with this coin? The guy says he will give some coins to every iceland citizen? Ok, even if he will - when you give away the money it will drop its value. Its just common sence. You have to work hard for the given ammount of money so the money will increase its value. How is he different from the crooked governments that try to solve their problems by giving people worthless wastepaper?
