If you like to do business economically you can study economics, but there are many successful entrepreneurs who do not go to universities that they are rich from their own experience as well as their bravery so the need to study economics is not necessary.

It isn't necessary, but it helps and the people who are successful in business without going to college are probably outnumbered greatly by those who did (but that's just my thought; I have no data to back it up).

My major in college wasn't economics, but I took a few elective courses in economics--Basic Economics, Corporate Finance, and Intro to Econometrics.  I enjoyed those classes enormously, especially the corporate finance one which was about stocks, bonds, derivatives and basically investing.  Even if you're a computer geek (or pharmacy student), you should at least take one or two elective courses in econ, because they're pretty useful and interesting.  Business never really interested me until I started making money, and I probably wouldn't have majored in that or econ, but I'm glad I took the classes I did.

If you watch TV at all, you probably watch the news.  You constantly see financial reports about jobs numbers and the stock market, and having a bit of education in finance helps you to understand what's being reported.  You don't have to be an entrepreneur to benefit from it.

Well in my studies, i hate economics specially my highschool subject because i dont understand really economics, maybe first factir is the teacher. Hehe, but then now my college life even though we have economics as our minor subject, i take it as if major, its interesting because it is about how manage your money your business yourself and your rights as a human, as a tax payers.

Because economics is an integral part of most disciplines, it also needs economic feasibility studies, which are the most important things that evaluated in any project.
I studied civil engineering, and we need the economy in many things. "We have a department in this specialization on the economics of enterprises."
I do not know about the rest of the universities, but economics plays a vital role in our lives

In my own opinion, those people who are planning to go into politics and seek higher position, economics background in a good university is really a must. Economists are very useful when it comes to running a country or a state. This is a very good portfolio that you can brag or even convince people to vote for you for higher office like presidency in the future. Some people are just into economics for personal reasons and personal development when it comes to financial freedom and management for them to acquire the dream that they can have financially. It's really important that you have the knowledge so that you will accomplish the wealth and position that you wanted to have in your life.

Economics never attracted me but I fell into it for deeper insights of the economic system. Many times we dont know few facts of economy and how it works or what are the factors that affect it in the first place. I always wanted to know those factors because they are the one who also affect the working of rest of the world, nation and even states. This ultimately affects the prices of grocery, internet world, digital stuff and everything that you can buy with your money.
Thus whether it is big or small, but with all the due insights we can know many things from it. If they teach this model or subject in the universities then obviously its very beneficial.

actually it is your choice, if you can manage and know some steps and ways to manage the existing economy because now the most important is that you have to have the expertise to be able to manage the existing economy.

Economics and financial knowledge is a form of literacy. When a child is asked: "what do you want to be when you grow up"? I think none of them would choose to go through life financially illiterate. Its like signing a contract and not being able to read what the words say. Unfortunately for most, financial illiteracy is likely to become their default stance and many will defend it till their last breath.

Learning a little about economics and finance is healthy for people. It can help them make better more informed decisions which could elevate their quality of life. It can help people to support the right policies which are best for them, which is difficult as the media often spins things to encourage people to support the policies which are bad for them.

It should be mentioned, learning economics at universities today can be bad due to widespread political indoctrination. An example of this is universities indoctrinating students into the idea that russia experienced a sharp increase in suicides and fatalities after the USSR fell because "capitalism is an evil or inferior system", which caused people to die. Some of us know the real reason was state run welfare and pension programs collapsing after the government defaulted on debt.

Unfortunately there are many youth being misled in "higher education".

I don't think a person will have to go to college to study economics, but there will be a good learning atmosphere at a university. It is a good opportunity for a young person to learn.

I agree if giving the chance to get such subject before way back when I am  still in school i want to get this subject. This is very helpful and important to  know on how economy do and works. My studies were mainly focused on philology, and economics was the subject of a minor priority.
Now I regret about such an attitude to economics as it could have given me lots of insights even more useful than the history of the English language
