Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver?

Investments in gold/silver for older people is easy to understand than crypto and that maybe the reason why they choose these metals for investment instead of bitcoin and other digital currencies.

That is because whenever there is a war or something that is troubling the economy, gold increases in value. You can never replace gold with paper but now that we are in the computer age Bitcoin is more valuable than gold.

I can not deny that at this stage, bitcoin is worth more and better than gold in investing but I believe everything is just temporary, bitcoin is too young and has more health, it grows faster than gold is a sure thing. However, the future still can not be determined, although gold can grow very slowly but it is stable for a long time while bitcoin and crypto seem to always change in a short time, this is enough for us to understand why older people like to invest in gold, gold is too persistent and supple, its existence is parallel to time, other investments can not be compared

I'm not one who would invest in precious metals, but I have noticed that a good amount of the older generations are pretty keen in investing in these metals. They see it as a way to bet against the market, and a security that will always be safe -- even in the times of a market downturn/country failure as a whole.

I personally wouldn't even want to buy these metals in those events, as I don't see the reason to. I'd rather invest in securities that go up when the market shits itself (Payroll lending companies and so on and so forth)

Does anyone here know the reason behind people loving precious metals?

They got lot of experience and they know it now that they only thing which was never faded is gold and silver. because every human being on this planet knows the value of gold, there is never a shortage of demands for gold and silver.

umm... maybe because they got use to investing in gold, cause back in the days there's no such thing as bitcoin right?
and besides old people can't keep up on the development of our technology, most of them don't even know how to access theinternet.

I think most of old people are not aware about the blockchain technology.Bitcoin is Modern technology and they do not understand that. they just think it is a joke, or gambling. so they prefer the Gold and Silver, which is the real thing.thanks

I think the reason for this is that the older you get the less risk you want to have in your investments. For you the lesser the risk and the more tangible the results are the better.

The older you become - the less risk you take. And putting money in the precious metals is the least risky investment comparing to stock, banks or, of course, crypto.

Since they faced at least one war or listened the war stories which their parents told. In such times, the precious metals are the real reserve currency.

Thats where it benefits over bitcoin.  It's difficult to cash out your bitcoin if you need cash really quickly.  Almost anyone will buy gold if its at a good price so its very easy to liquidate.

Maybe one of the reason because gold has the real and legit value not manipulated of course but Im not sure and it can also easily sell anywhere, gold is a proven investment opportunity for the last many decades and until now many people investing on it older people doesn't really trust in cryptocurrency maybe they believe it will collapse anytime .

Ever since people created gold/silver, they have considered it as one of the most precious asset. Especially, in that day with many old people, own a great amount of gold/silver, known as a very rich. there are many reason why old people still keep their opinion to these mental. First up, as we all know that obviously gold and silver are both tangible object which help them feel more secured. Investing in gold/silver is trustworthy.  Next, absolutely they are old people, they can’t reach new investment knowledge such as bitcoin, ethereum and the likes.  The more they understand, the more they put hand in it. Cryptocurrencies is pretty risky, it’s hard for old people to understand and invest effectively.

Because a lot of people one day we will run out of Gold and silver and they will become valuable.
Also it is true that Gold and silver are safer because they will not just disappear some day. Not like crypto which is inherently risky.

Well, i see it as something that has been passed on to them by older generations too who value gold or silver. For them, that’s the highest invest they can hold on tight that will stay even as generations come. They can’t value crypto because they value gold so much.

Gold and Silver have been the investment standard for thousands of years, so obviously older people they feel more inclined to very stable investments and are less risk averse. I think now though more older persons are getting involved in crypto and once it is more regulated they will feel more likely to invest in this new fledgling technology. Gold and Silver also is very good to own in case of wars or turmoil in the country, but also it can be hard to move around, unless you own it on a commodities exchange. I do think though that things will change and people of older age groups will be more inclined to go in new investments if they are wrapped up and packaged in a way to suit their needs, like a pension fund for example.

I think this also why old investors are still investing in gold and silver. it is because you can earn much more profit in this and you feel that you can not scam because it's a real thing or it has more revenue? that's what I do not understand those who are old to us they prefer the past than the present who are more likely to get a lot of money in new investments today.
