Do we lose our coins if we do not update wallet from 1.0.0.2 to 2.0.0.1 before block 110.000?
You should not. It is the same protocol version 70002 and everything will be compatible.

It is highly suggested you update however.

I would not send/receive payments on 1.0.0.2 or you may lose coins. Only use 2.0.0.1 for transaction purposes.

Mirroring thread here for people who want to know what's being discussed. The below are examples only but should give you an idea.

http://www.reddit.com/r/flappycoin/comments/23xng4/lets_discuss_tx_fees/

In the future we want to give real incentives for miners to stay, especially with the huge changes occurring at blocks 110,000.

Since we are discussing TX Fees now, we have decided at the very least TX Fees will be mandatory(At least in some way, the finer details need to be worked out that is fair). However we want this to be fair, fair to the backbone of the network(Our Miners) and fair to people in general.

This being said, we did not want to force these changes in at this stage at least until after block 110,000 and reduction occurs.
So for suggestions let us know. We we're thinking of a type of system that is either tiered, or based on a fixed percentage that is quite low.

A set TX fee percentage were to be 0.01%(Example only)

  • Send 1,000 flappycoins, cost would be 1 flappycoin paid to the block chain/miners.
  • Send 1,000,000 flappycoins, cost would be 1,000 flappycoins paid to the block chain/miners.
  • This example is a flat rate example.

A tiered TX fee percentage such as. (Example only)

  • Send less then X amount = no fee.
  • Send between X and Y amount = 0.01% fee.
  • Send between Y and Z amount = 0.001% fee.
  • Send above Z amount = 0.0001% fee.

This scenario allows small transactions at no fee, above a certain threshold fee's would be set then decrease dependant upon the amount or increase. This is an example only.

We want this to be community driven, and decided by everyone. If anyone has suggestions or anything else we are all ears! When it comes to the above example, it was an example only but I do hope it gets the point across for how this would effect everything. In the long run this would ensure we have a strong mining back bone that does not leave due to halvings. As time goes on, and people use flappycoin more TX fees paid to blockchain would increase, meaning miners would have more payout, not less, regardless of current payout by the blockchain itself.

Thank you for any input!

Don't worry, wallets safe and will work with the new wallet posted in the future.

Complete rewrite, stable as a mountain. No more horrible coding to deal with or clean up.

In the mean time we'll need known people who we're having issues with wallet to let us know. You'll be the first ones getting new wallet.(During the launch)

For anyone reading this is not happening till after block 110,000 for the new wallet, it will be compatible with previous versions, and updating won't be a hassle any more.

Thank you for your patience in the mean time for anyone suffering incompatibility issues. The only positive to that situation is it is a small number of individuals it seems but we are fixing it.

Sorry for asking this, but I don't get it. When will we lose our coins if not updated?

I can probably explain it like this. You never lose* your coins. The issue of being on multiple wallets or forks is you can not ensure where your coins are going, so you may send/receive and the user you sent would never receive them, or likewise you'd never get coins due to incombatibilities due to wallet software.

That said; as long as you wait for the new wallet it will import your wallet.dat. Losing coins is half the fault of the user in a lot of ways.

Also since wallets are using same protocol version they will be compatible to transfer your coins. It just is a little bit of a wait for people with incompatibility issues.

We would push out new wallet sooner, but it is confusing to do so to everyone that has already waited. So we chose the best case scenario is to ensure quality of new software/wallets and release shortly after block 110,000 to avoid confusion for people who have updated, and to not be continually pushing a wallet out.

* To be fair, it is possible for wallets to not be compatible, but that would only happen after months/years of letting a wallet sit while updates happen and you never update to them. Such as what happened to a lot of bitcoiners who tried to restore wallets that were years old and those coins are forever lost. This is not our situation however, because like explained this is a small time frame and protocol versions will be the same initially and for awhile.

Once again people, your coins are safe.... just save your wallet.dat file
and wait for updated wallet version.
DONT use old 1.x.x.x version or you can loose your coins

Anyone wanting to just verify wallet for MAC can download below. Back up your wallet before using a new wallet!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/eulx3bsvmidp6ld/Flappycoin-Qt-2.0.0.1-MacOSX.dmg

Link will change to website later, for now just including this for stability testing for this compile.

We're going to be having a contest/redesign of coin(And a lot of things.). We left it the same for now, but it will be changed in the future.

Actualy, I working now on redesign of 3D coin I make for contest.
I will make more realistic gold / silver look. If devs and community like this
design and want it for official logo, let me know... maybe to change something?

I've been wishing that your design was our coin's logo since the first time I saw it! It looks like something you could use as legal tender in a real world casino. Can you create a face up vector format with transparent background and no shadow backdrop?

I'm glad you like it  Wink
I already make 2D version.

Yes I can make clean vector image, with transparent background...
but I think that realistic render is better... also I can vectorize 3D render. Smiley

I can verify that it launches in Mavericks.  I am new to flappycoin so I am having to download the block chain before I can test to make sure transactions work with it, but so far so good.

Can you make the coin in 2D more like the 3D coin. I like the colors of the 3D coin more.
