Hackers mainly focus on exchanges, so try not to store their coins on the exchange, so that they can be relatively safe against these hacker attacks.
They target anything that is going to be a treasure chest of money and coins full. Not something that is going to be a farmers' piggybank, obviously. Exchanges have a lot of coins in store for the customers who are using the exchange and the funds of the exchange. Now it is not possible to always withdraw all you balances because trading goes on with new orders being placed and new more deposits coming in. People who do arbitrage again has to have funds ready to deploy.

For the long term though one should try to keep a decent amount withdrawn away to local wallets and not keep them on exchanges.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

You just follow the 3 Ways to Protect Against Hackers Cool

1) Cold storage devices locked up at a secure location
2) Don't leave crypto on the exchanges for more than is necessary for trading
3)Two-factor authentication is a must

You can't avoid the risk completely but you can minimize it.
Avoid web wallets and don't keep your coins at exchanges. Also use more different types of wallets and don't keep all your coins in just one wallet. Use updated antivuris tools on your computer and mobile phones if you use them to access your wallet.

As i can see the easiest way to protect yourself against losing your crypto currency is to purchase a hardware wallet. There is nothing simpler. You spend one time about an amount and do not worry about the fact that something will happen to you.

Remember that even banks can be hacked/ stolen so we cannot make sure that cryptocurrency is not hackable. You should use hardware wallet because it is much safer than online wallet.
But the developers are working every day to make the system safer and work better.

Hackers can not be stopped but measures should be taken to avoid been attacked my hackers.  One of the safest & easiest ways to store your ETH, Tokens, ETC, BTC, and many other coins is via a Ledger Nano S or TREZOR. Both are hardware wallets. Both work with MyEtherWallet.com. And both cost less than $100 ( < 0.1 ETH ).
Use MEW Locally / Offline.
For Token Sales: do not trust any address except the one posted on the official site.

Some of the solutions I will like to suggest is that,
We shouldn't access our wallets or trade on a public computer

Seems the consensus is that a hardware wallet is best but for us who can't afford it or don't have a large pile to warrant such a purchase, basic internet protection should do. It would be best to have a separate PC/device for the software wallet but if even that is not possible, just try to avoid visiting shady sites, bookmark stuff that might get phished (for example the MEW site) and regularly update the antivirus software.

Higher level of security would lessen the risk of hacks. It will not give guarantee that you won't be hacked but the fact that it lessen the odds, it's worth the shot. Individual hacks/wallet hacks could be handled by securing private keys by writing it in a paper and not storing it in a PC or phone. Exchanges should increase their security by having some algorithm that could encrypt their server password. They could provide multiple levels of security so if one is penetrated, another wall is there to block. There are many ways of increasing security for software based systems and exchanges should take security in one of the top priorities.

Decentralized exchange does not offer you the security that your account wont be hacked. Your safety begins with yourself. How you backed up your wallet , and be cautious when entering a site that look phishi and other things like the use of google authentication is needed to avoid hack.

Opening the wallets on a public computer is the last thing you can do. Its like fooling with to a street escort without using any protection. Definitely going to end you up with an STD/in this case loss of funds. Why would you even trust a public computer that has been "used" by every lowlife in the world to open you precious money-loaded wallets?

Decentralized exchange does not offer you the security that your account wont be hacked. Your safety begins with yourself. How you backed up your wallet , and be cautious when entering a site that look phishi and other things like the use of google authentication is needed to avoid hack.
What would you do if the Decentralized exchange was already cloned and you are visiting a clone/phishing site? Smiley

Keep your password and private key to yourself only. Never open your account using a public computer.

I use Coinbase to keep Bitcoin and Ethereum, but it has never hacked. I see that users were hacked because they have disclosed their information, just good personal information protection I am sure your account will never hack.

I have no problem about hacking, currently I rarely to open my wallet. most hacking is a result of self-neglect, well if the problem of this decline that makes me sometimes disgusted.

If you keep your coins in Coinbase and sleep soundly thinking everything is safe and sound then you are living in a fool's paradise. It can get hacked anytime and you may lose funds or lose time while the site comes back. Both of which are serious problems for any person who is active in trading and is spending crypto continuously.

You should adopt a desktop or maybe a smartphone wallet to store your coins. Desktop would be best.

Its not new thing in crypto world and these hacks already started a few years back and started growing significantly since the price of bitcoin soar last year. I think using hard wallet still become the best solution for me if you're storing bitcoin. If you're going with other coins & tokens then you should become paranoid and aware with your computer security and the thing i learned based on experiences is not to store your private key where somebody can connect and steal it online. Just write it in a piece of paper or other offline method.  Grin Grin

The solution is we need to educate ourself how to protect our cryptocurrency wallet with the best method.
Most of the hacking cases i believe it is because personal mistakes such as exposing private key, get phished, forgot the wallet, lost wallet, no backup, etc.

We can't control hackers for what they usually did. They made many ways to hacks each account. And I think the best solution to prevent hackers to hacks our account is to use hardware wallet. But for me it's OK to use the wallet you usually use just make sure to keep it safe and when you open your account it's better to check properly that you log out
