Well, Etherdelta has also been hacked before so I dont think DEX can be s solution.
To avoid being hacked I suggest you to buy a hardware wallet and also buy two PCs. On the first PC, use it for crypto related purposes and never visit any website which are not trusted. Only use it for living to your exchanges and checking wallet... . On the second PC use it for normal purposes.
Never use the same email for more than one exchange. Also never use your exchange email address to signup for ICOs or airdrops or any other site . I know an ICO who sold its user's emails without their knowledge so create a different email for ICO and airdrop purposes.

They said that decentralized exchanges are not vulnerable to any hacks, except for etherdelta. Majority that I've read about recent exchange hacks came from centralized exchanges.

What I was referring to are actually personal home computers and mobile phones, hence, chances are that they're connected to the internet most of the time. Also, I wouldn't hear complaints about these stuff on social media if the seeds we're actually backed up properly and securely.

They think that it's secured as long as they keep the private keys/seeds on their phone but they didn't recognized that it is still connected to internet once they access to the web.

I can't understand too why they are too lazy of writing the keys on a piece of paper and paste it to any of their books or any secured storage.

We cannot really 100% avoid hacks but we can lessen the risk of being hack if we do our research. We must also understand how hacking is done so that we can avoid being hacked. If we have no knowledge on how this things works then we could bite the traps that the hackers are sending us. Remember that even banks can be hacked/ stolen so we cannot make sure that cryptocurrency is not hackable. You should use hardware wallet because it is much safer than online wallet.
But the developers are working every day to make the system safer and work better.

Seems the consensus is that a hardware wallet is best but for us who can't afford it or don't have a large pile to warrant such a purchase, basic internet protection should do. Higher level of security would lessen the risk of hacks. It will not give guarantee that you won't be hacked but the fact that it lessen the odds, it's worth the shot. Individual hacks/wallet hacks could be handled by securing private keys by writing it in a paper and not storing it in a PC or phone. Exchanges should increase their security by having some algorithm that could encrypt their server password. They could provide multiple levels of security so if one is penetrated, another wall is there to block. There are many ways of increasing security for software based systems and exchanges should take security in one of the top priorities.

Actually DEX is a good exchange, volume cannot be faked, cannot be hacked because using own wallet unless you come into phishing site requesting your private key or seed or passwords. The solution is we must educate ourself to know how to protect our wallet with our security knowledge.

Exactly my point. People see money in exchange business and start it with a poor foundation. As a result lack of security, performance becomes troublesome for the traders. Developing an exchange surely requires research especially in the security aspect. Implementation of security standards, maximum use of cold storage and other preventive measures such as withdrawal from whitelisted IPs can be considered. Timely evaluation of the exchange, external security audit, cross-checking of wallet balances can also be added.

Decentralized exchanges are yet to pave their way as it is not yet adopted by a majority of the users.

There is no solution to stop hackers from stealing cryptocurrencies from people and exchanges. The only solution is for all users to be more knowledgeable on how to protect their money and be careful on where to put or store their cryptocurrency investments and it is simple, never use exchanges or any online wallet services as a wallet or storage because they are prone from hacking and inside job to steal money from their customers. I don't think we can get better solution of these things , because we can't put all altcoins at their own official wallet because the main factor is of the time of confirmation and also matter of the transaction fee , it is duty of the exchange to gain better security so that no one can easily give his hacking effect over the exchange .
