Rat4, are you still here?  The blackcoin has developed too badly.   Now there's a lot of new coins.   The blackcon has become more and more dim.

The biggest exchange in China has stopped the recharge of blackcoin.  The volume of transactions is very small, It's only 0.2~1BTC every day.  Often only 0.5BTC +-.  .  Blackcoin is likely to stop trading.

what are you talking about? there is usually like 10-50btc traded a day on bittrex's BLK exchange sometimes into the 100's of BTC

I heard about blackcoin segwit. When will they activate it? Or it was only hype to increase the price but blk is falling from last couple of months.

Its not actually falling so much as bitcoin is rising strongly through most of 2017 which makes blackcoin look expensive to some so the price falls.    If you want to compare to 2016 where I bought Blackcoin reguarly then its been far stronger this year imo, I wish it were a bit more regular perhaps but overall its doing better.     I think BTC conversion just acts as alot of pressure on the BLK price, also it depends on how well bitcoin can manage its transaction backlog.   There is the competitive element to compare the two in speed, I've noticed bitcoin is a bit faster recently so maybe Blackcoin lost some edge there and needs to regain its various positives over standard crypto.

Other news in the wider crypto market would be ETH switching over to Proof of stake some time in 2018, I read recently they are close to releasing some test version of this.  Sounded like they are still not sure absolutely.   Now Im not sure if a POW to POS switch for ETH shines a positive on Blackcoin which has been POS for years or will it be competition.
  Does depend how well they implement it perhaps; my personal take is it shines a light on the general advantages of this sector of crypto.  Iam optimistic tbh as I do not like how mining and POW has developed to centralise power with a few over the many, thats not how I see crypto currency suceeding and benefitting the wider world.  Price is secondary to utility

Fair comments STT. What were you reading about Eth switching? I'm definitely not giving up on Blackcoin by any means. I actually think it's undervalued and will see a strong push soon and climb a lot. Not for the sake of the stupid market price, but just to validate their work. Curious to see the strategy with the JS integration.

I think the worst part of crypto these days is that it's viewed by so many as purely just growing money which is dumb. I kind of wish trading and ico's were stalled for along time just to give time to the devs to better shape the future. But shit what am I talking about..it's fascinating. I mean the shaping is happening one way or another as the venture space grows and competes. It's just sadly not far from big tech simply just sweeping in and stealing the work. Once mainstream catches on enough, some shit like apple or amazon will market it and ruin it all. I wonder how much Mr. Dimon bought..

Regarding Blackcoin; I like their work and really the market still has so much room for change if the technology wants to become adoptable. The current water-cooler buzz to the market is annoying for sure, but alts will bounce. Despite the BTC/BCH pushing the name, not sure if they're the winners in the end so suck it china.

BCH is actually spending money advertising itself on bus shelters and so on.   They want revenue in mining fees and so on, I presume its not an open system exactly someone has an advantage to gain possibly.    Banks already do use blockchain technology apparently, its open source code so no theft required.   Nasdaq uses blockchain I think I read a few times, to what extent Im not sure.   This is just the nature of the beast, I dont think anyone will be able to dominate the market exactly I just hope the consumer wins and even 'little' transactions will be possible easily in a widespread way.   If that happens then I look to a mutual benefit to give everyone a positive gain from liquidity and easier business, possibly naive but that is the basis for capitalism over other fixed mind sets I think.

I do believe ETH switching to POS will shine a light on other solid proof of stake coins like BLK for all the new crypto enthusiasts that don't understand or even know they exist yet... so a little advertising even just online (Facebook adds etc) could go a long way. 

Considering the dramatic climb BTC has had this year BLK has done extremely well... even gaining vs the Dollar, long term stakers have nice big smiles on their faces right about now. Network weight stays high making for a strong network... many % based poscoins struggle to keep healthy networks (VRC even had to add a whole second chain to secure their VRC chain) So I think static rewards (1.5 per block etc) like BLK will do much better than  the % based ones as static rewards encourages competition similar to mining on a POW coin. 

Looking back at what I used to stake in 2014/2015... if I had kept staking them I would be nearing filthy rich right now and have some serious passive income  I should have trusted my gut instead of listening to trolls and BTC maximalists.

I believe it was Scrypt during the mining phase, but is currently SHA256d. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

you guys need to ditch blackcoin and buy bitbay. It uses the blackcoin code but has a full time team and very active development. You aint gona make any money sticking with Blackcoin. Why would people buy Blackcoin?? what is its Unique selling point? . . exactly there isnt one. Bitbay have a tether like peg called a dynamic peg in Feb which will make it go X10 in value. Its not too late. Its hard switching religions. . . sorry i mean coins but its either you wanting to make money or you dont

lol why would we ditch a coin that has how many years of blockchain/trust behind it? that was one of the first of it's kind. for a coin suggested by a noob account that is probably one of many for him? wasn't bitbay 1 of many pump and dump groups coins? tethering is stupid to me, if you have to tether to a dollar is it really worth a dollar?  kind of the opposite of let the market decide. If you can't make money off trading a coin like BLK and need hype to keep you interested good for you. A few months ago I was buying/trading at 12 cents  now it's been over 30 cents lately. So I'm fine right where I am

Lol i remember bitbay very good from the past, leaded by an pump and dump group. Stayed away very far from that coin.
Dont know how current developments are ongoing for bitbay but that shouldnt be discussed here because this the blackcoin thread and not a place to hype any other coin.

Well this is wrong. BitBay is where I devote most of my time developing. The original team screwed me and stole the dev funds but the project itself is awesome. I've worked blood sweat and tears for a couple years to make sure investors made a profit and I won't hear that type of bullshit here.

Also it's not tethered, the supply will be dynamic so it will inflate and deflate based on voting and algorithms which will allow it for solid stable rise and an excellent hedge against volatility (more like a decentralized tether but dynamic price). There is no coin that exists that can currently defend against volatility and hence that feature was designed to dig investors from the grave.

Also I agree, please nobody promote other coins in this thread.

With that said I'm still working on BlackHalo and BitHalo. The software is extremely stable with almost 4 years of proven unbreakable contracts.
