i want to get involved but that 20btc deposit on the first day of the announcement into the IPO bitcoin wallet makes me suspicious that you just bought your own ipo or something to that effect, seems strange that someone should invest such a large amount of money in such a short space of time. Excuse my suspicious mind :p

Because it's pure premine but it's wrapped in another cover.

We strongly encourage potential IPO investors to "do their homework" and study our website, video demo and this thread very carefully before deciding whether to invest.
We are not making a huge, speculation based marketing campaign. Heavycoin is about new ideas and innovations and we believe investment should be guided by these.
For those individuals who still feel the IPO carries too much risk, then we encourage you to partake in the mining phase or bounties phase instead.

We are actually quite surprised people think the 20 BTC is from us, because it makes no sense. If we did invest into our own IPO, then it would decrease/dilute the capital we can raise in the IPO. So, it is not to our advantage to invest in our own IPO. We want what is best for Heavycoin and the best thing for Heavycoin is to achieve a good distribution in the IPO phase. As we've repeated many time in this thread, we believe the free market will provide a good distribution in the end, as many prudent investors are likely to wait more toward the end of the IPO to invest.

I'm sorry but why can you not just do our homework for us and show us the proof you're not going to be the next STACK ? It's nothing to do with marketing campaigns it's about being open and transparent to encourage confidence to invest in your coin, if you really wanted your coin to succeed something like this would be one of your top priorities from the outset considering how bad some coin launches have been which have been incredibly counter productive to promoting trust in crypto currency

Why is there a need for Step 3? Not necessary, but helps with our bookkeeping. Also, means each IPO investor who chose procedure 2 can see their funds at an address (eg. on block explorer) until they claim them.

Why is there a need for Step 3? For those who can't be bothered doing IPO procedure 1 by generating a key address. I opted for IPO procedure 2, donated 0.01 and keccak512 sent me back a confirmation and a temporary heavycoin address until the launch.

We cannot do your homework for you. We cannot prove we are legit other than by releasing Heavycoin. And you will see that in due course.
We've done everything we are willing to do. The IPO is only a small part of the Heavycoin launch. I think that if you go back and read our posts you will find that we are being open and transparent. The Heavycoin IPO may not match your risk level. In that case you should not invest. However, we encourage you to take part in the mining and the bounties phases.

The Heavycoin IPO may not match your risk level. In that case you should not invest. However, we encourage you to take part in the mining and the bounties phases. I have read and I understand your problem with the escrow service but surely you could have come to compromise to find a solution or at least look for other escrow alternatives, I'm sure you're legit, however STACK dev seemed legit too and was often posting to encourage confidence and look how that ended up, so I hope you understand why people are looking for proof of concept in your venture (and looking from your previous posts you do have some empathy towards this) Would it not be possible to have registration for IPO but not accept payment until launch is complete ? You're still getting your money but investors are assured with confidence that they can see a launch before committing their assets without need for escrow ? To me this would be best option for your venture whilst protecting investors unless you're in desperate need for the money upfront to cover your overheads before launch, there are of course other alternatives to encouraging confidence but it would depend on how willing you are to disclose personal information about yourself with evidence which could be considered a security risk and possibly against the ToS of this forum. I will be mining this come launch as it does seem an interesting coin, so I hope it turns out well but investing is just too high risk right now based solely on promises from another stranger on the internet. I wish we had a world where everyone was honest so things like this wouldn't be an issue however that isn't reality

I guess I don't see where you're coming from. The 5M isn't a premine from my perspective. It's an IPO, a chance to get something by giving something. It's not as if the Dev's are going "The 5M coins are ours as well." Instead, they're giving the community the chance to buy a portion of the coins. So, I guess, I'm asking those out there, how is it you're viewing an IPO as premine? Are you the same folks that view the NXT IPO as premine? Are all IPOs premines to you?
The other portion is clearly stated as pre-mine and for what purposes the premine exists.
Premine isn't seen as a good thing because people don't really like coins whose developers are into getting rich from the coin rather than creating really good and balanced coin. IPO is even worse that premine in this case, as the developers starting to dump their premine even before the actual mining started. Which just gives them the opportunity to launch the coin afterwards and forget about it support altogether. Because what's the point? Following your logic, bounties are not premine either: the developers are not keeping the coins to themselves. IPO is definitely premine. It's also because only 90-95% of the total supply is available to the miners, not 98-99%. The rule is simple: whatever coins are already issued before it's available to the miners are called PRE-MINE.

To me, they seem like very distinct and different aspects of a coin, or coin launch. Whereas, I suppose you see a % of total coins that are potentially mineable by yourself: I see each of these launches as an opportunity to get X amount of C coin, and (in this instance) continue afterwards to mine Y amount of C coin. Realistically, for a small-time miner like myself, I could and would never see a large portion of that 90-95%. It just would never happen. I might see fractions of a percent. From my perspective, this doesn't really seem like a bad deal. I'm ensured X+Y coins, instead of Y coins.
