It's anonymous so I don't think there could be any problem in whatever country.

Hi, I'm new to both bitcoin and bitcoin gambling (or gambling in general).

I'm wondering, if I bet 1 bitcoin, and the payout is 9.901x, I should get 9.901, right? Then why does the profit calculator say 8.901? Does the house take the rest as a service fee or something?

Thanks, and sorry if it's a dumb question, I really have no idea how this works.
You get 9.901 Payout as a whole and since 1 BTC is your original bet so the pure profit is 8.901

If there's no house edge, you'd get 9btc profit, so the 0.099btc gap is the house fee.

Ah, yes. I guess it doesn't really matter if you call it "house edge" or just a "commission fee," it's the same thing in this case. So a 0.99% fee compared to SatoshiDice's 1.9%. Pretty reasonable. Why is SD still so popular, then?

On ED you can invest and be the casino roll if it is legal in your country
Aren't "bitcoin casinos" legal pretty much everywhere, except in countries where bitcoin is considered an actual currency? Iceland and Germany come to mind, and the USA where it's not really clear from the legal perspective, but people just don't want potential trouble.

I would say it is illegal in most countries

Ah, ok then.

I'd say it's "questionable" rather than illegal, since most countries don't have a legislature surrounding bitcoin yet.

SatoshiDice claims it has a 1.9% house edge, so why is it that when you bet 1 bitcoin on a 50% chance game, the profit is 1.957x?

2 - 1.957 = 0.043
(0.043/2) * 100 = 2.15%

With an 1.9% edge, the profit should be 1.962x, 0.005 more.

Are they lying, or is my math junk?

So you're saying my account has been blocked from manual rolling? If that's the case thank you very much. I know it seems kinda crazy but I'd like to let my investment be for awhile. Maybe in a month or so do I have the option of getting unblocked? Also, I still have my abilities to deposit and withdraw? Thanks Everydice.

Even you cannot be unblocked automatically, I think you can always start a new account if you really want to bet. Well, that seems like a gambling problem again.

Hi Cech.. Unfortunately no reward on the 500,000th bet, the announcement also will be too sudden. But after discussion with the team, we are agree to use Uptweets idea to reward to the 1,000,000th bet.

The rule will be as follows:

  • 0.05 BTC for the first and the second one who wagers 0.05 BTC or more after one million-th bet
Will post this to our blog too Smiley

He f3tus, none of the above, this case is well explained in an old thread:

SatoshiDice is not lying, you just made a simple mistake in your calculations. Specifically, you forgot that SatoshiDice pays you a small amount (0.5% of your wager) if you lose, that way you always get something back whether you win or not (unless something's gone wrong), allowing you to easily tell the difference between a loss and a failure to pay out a win due to technical problems.

In the case of lessthan 32768, you will win 1.957x your wager 50% of the time, and 0.005x your wager the other 50%, giving an expected return of (1.957x0.5 + 0.005x0.5) = 0.981 for a house edge of 1.9%.

I don't recommend SatoshiDice because it brings a lot of pollution to the blockchain.

It's the main reason we have a massive block chain

You will get that 0.15 bonus back pretty fast because there will tens of 0.1+bets and hundreds of 0.05 when we get really close to the threshold, it will be very exciting. PD3 will have a promotion as well
