AIR will be relaunched, under a different name w/ the original features as promised (and a few new ones).  The connections many of you will perceive to "legitimize" the coin (whatever that means varies I think) have been put into place.   All that's left is the Dev team I've been working on. I've also restricted access to this account so that ONE person will be responding and posting on this site for consistency.

DM me for more details about project release timeline, specifics, and there will be an IIRC available for a conversation with those interested.  Eventually, I will have a Skype address up and running for video chat and planning. Here's your chance to be part of this experiment again: this time conducted the correct way using data from the first time around, to minimize risk all around.

So what will happen to all of our old AirCoin. Are you just going to create a new token and render the old one useless? Might want to consider switching to POS as with POW people just stopped mining the coin.

All old coins will indeed be invalidated.  Phase I trial is over.  It will most likely be heavy modification of a fork (to keep things straightforward, as you know the innovative concepts of this coin are more on the financial side), but of a fork that has some nice features: the current candidate is HTMLcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=971382.0 <== really give their social media presentations a look, if you haven't), with NeoScrypt, implementing X11 later.

Forgoing x11 or Neoscrypt hash for now, using current Master at Litecoin.

Implementing Segwit (BIP141, BIP143, and BIP147 specifically, on nHeight == 2) in latest fork.

Still trying to determine difficulty readjustment algorithm, probably something based on a list of floating averages.

Extending internal REST capabilities of core found: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/blob/master/doc/REST-interface.md the problem is the lack of authentification of both endpoints. No need to add a new REST client to core though if one already exists.

Working on a draft of a QRL (Quantum Resistant Ledger, original open source project here: https://theqrl.org/) as part of the Small Change Service (see below, in UPDATES) which is back compatible with extant altcoin chains.  It will, of course, be open source. Details to be posted in Slack in the coming weeks.

UPDATES: the draft of level 2 protection (dynamic block reward based on market price) should be available by  08-01-2017.  The source will be available only to those joining the developer side of the project and will be released to everyone at a later date.

Difficulty readjustment algorithms are still under consideration.

Work on the Small Change Service app begins after the actual crypto asset has been developed. After app development, the actual details of the Small Change Service will be made available. The Service will provide buy support for the asset.

UDATE: Fixed, up to a certain level of backward compatibility on MS Visual Studio and Mingw.  If the asset works on Windows it should work elsewhere...right?

There seems to be some confusion about trading in old AIR for new Aleph.  You MUST be one of the commentators on this forum BEFORE page 108 to be eligible for a refund, and that refund is for 5 AIR to 5 Aleph. The rest you should sell immediately.  The Aircoins you see on other threads linking back to OUR logo and OUR block explorers are frauds.  They don't even have any source code you can download, and it's obvious that the AIRcoin on Novaexchange has been around ONLY since 2014 through its block explorer.

The alpha test of the Small Change Webapp will require more time; the onboarding is an awkward phase for brick and mortar businesses. Once it's in a better place we'll release promotional content for it. The cryptoasset, Aleph, will be released when Small Change is on its feet.

Trying to keep Smallchange (we contracted it to this from Small Change Service) and Aleph Web Store different services that use the same backend.  Fiat payment options that are free in the U.S. exist (see Zelle) but in other places, this could get hairy.

I haven't forgotten about the QRL draft, that's on the docket right after the Aleph0 Extension.  We're still working on the Web Store right now though. It will come equipped w/ Insured Positions (similar to the concept of futures), which come in at 4 risk levels.  The fee rates range from 2% - 20%, and the expiration dates go from a few hours to half a year.

As time goes on we'll add other cryptocurrencies and cryptoasset tokens.  We will also offer the Insured Positions on services/other subsidiaries of Aleph0 (kinda like stock).  As you can probably tell, we're really big on compatibility and integration. We think that's "where the future is headed". We don't want to leave behind the core values and attributes the cryptocurrency community has come to expect and appreciate; but you have to admit the heavy consideration of the mechanics involved in the economics of crypto are starting to dominate the purchasing decisions of ERC20 token holders, and consequently the rest of us.  Things ARE moving in the direction AIR had predicted some time ago.
  

Now a note on "what makes us qualified to be the administrators here":

Well for one, we'll have our money transmission licenses in place long before start offering anything like this.  We're starting w/ licensing in places where it's even a big deal (like in the U.S. and China).

For another, Aleph is a for-profit cryptoasset with very tight restrictions on what we can or can't promise (so no more of this anonymity stuff from founders/co-founders) and Smallchange is a non-profit organization.  Meaning before you ever give us a cent (in Smallchange or Aleph) you will know who we are and what you can do if we fail to uphold a sale or cheat you.  On top of that, we are striving for more transparency than in the last "regime" of AIRcoin.  Instead of transparency releases, you'll get to know what should happen before it happens, and then we'll write some more telling you what actually did happen and why we think so.  All in an easy to digest single page. If you'd like us to write more, we can do so. If you'd like to sue us instead, you can do so.

Lastly, we're pushing strongly for decentralization of this platform, but in the beginning that just can't be the case: you will need to establish trust w/ fiat-crypto exchangers at least until we can get Lightening or Interledger (possibly both?) working. What you will see, however, is that even at this stage we store as little info as possible about payments and identities as we can (we aren't Paypal, or even a payment processor for that matter).  As we write better software for these things and observe useful trends to pick up, you'll start getting more autonomous "wallets", brick-and-mortar payment infrastructure compatible, economically minded features and organizations/companies separate from Aleph0 that provide value to businesses and consumers.  That is the ultimate goal after all.

Of course, let's see how the cryptoasset performs first. None of this is worth much if we can't all get back up from AIR, dust ourselves off, and get back into the marathon. Because that's what this all is, a marathon. You don't have to win, you just have to be one of the competitors that finished successfully.  It's not too late, just get creative.
