No, it is impossible to find the cryptocurrency network stand without bitcoin. Bitcoin has got the dominance level close to the 50% mark which confirm its contribution. Each and every digital currency and ico's were taking bitcoin as the reference to make calculations on the asset value. With this I never find anything in the place of bitcoin.

It surely can just that the market will just dwindle a bit and many other investors will get scared with less trust at the same time. therefore cryptocurrency will not die without bitcoin

No it cannot stand by itself because the main source of all crypto currency was bitcoin. As you can see when the price of bitcoin was fall down then every coin will going down so they cannot stand on their own and base on my analysis if bitcoin die every currency would die.

There will be something else to appear in the future, but so far without Bitcoin it is hard to imagine the world of crypto currencies. |

cryptocurrency is not all about bitcoin, it exist because of blockchain technology. therefore cryptocurrency would exist even if bitcoin is gone. but to say that some altcoin will surpass bitcoin in cmc is not realistic for me. altcoin may rise but not to the point that it will overcome bitcoin.  |

Any Altcoins could replace Bitcoin if it will disappear but the question is when and how? Bitcoin already build a legacy and a deep foundation of trust among the people that is why it doesn't need commodities just to attract more people to invest because the people already believed that Bitcoin is the most potential and the most promising crypto investment therefore it is really very impossible for any Altcoins to supersede Bitcoin. |

Yes, of course. Cryptocurrencies can exist without bitcoin. It’s a similar answer to the question of “can blockchain exist without bitcoin?” We all know that blockchain tech was invented for bitcoin. After the implementation, blockchain has been dubbed as a revolutionary technology that can bring transparency in the system. This also means that other blockchain apps can support other cryptos. All these coins co-exist but do not rely on each in order to survive. Who will remain on top? Well, it’s the survival of the fittest, IMO.

There are a lot of possibilities that a different cryptocurrency can replace bitcoin. Most people in the crypto world are more concern about the transaction fees and how safe it is to use a particular cryptocurrency. Looking at the crypto market now, the market cap and volume of some cryptos is increasing exponentially. With this kind of increase, there are a lot of possibilities.

I think.cryptocurrency can stand alone even without bitcoin. Bitcoin was just another cryptocurrency, and some cryptocurrencies do not depend on bitcoin. Investors got their sharea through dollars for them to have their tokens, not by means of bitcoins. Others got theirs through ethereum, not bitcoin. Meaning, altcoins as cryptocurrencies can stand alone.

I think it is impossible that some other altcoins can stand up without bitcoin because, in my opinion, bitcoin is the reason why there are a lot of cryptocurrencies now. It is hard to imagine that bitcoin is gone but others are still there. It is easy now to convert our altcoin through bitcoin.

Theoritically it is, but as we already know, the fact is bitcoin is more popular than the other coins. Also, a lot of altcoins already pair with btc. It means that, when the price of btc is going down, then the altcoin is going down too and so on. |

the beginning of the first crypto is the bitcoin followed by altcoin. at this point the base of all altcoin is bitcoin, so when bitcoin dies then altcoin dies. so in my opinion cryptocurrency can not be without bitcoin.

In terms of usability Bitcoin is one of the most used mode of payment within the Cryptoworld as it has one of the highest value in ratio to Fiat. It is the cheapest and fastest mode of transfer of Currency as compared to Fiat. It has replaced one of the most common assests known as property as its value increased significantlly last year. It is one of the most secure and safe way of trading in Crypto exchange. All Alts are traded using Bitcoin.
Now if you are looking to replace Bitcoin you need to change the above usage. I doubt if it will ever happen. Might happen or Might not, only the Future will tell.

Possibly, but not now. Eventually, when something really disrupt this whole blockchain era. Something that will be actually used globally without too much restrictions, boundless reach. But that maybe is still not now, but who knows. Some alts now are proving their worth and compared to bitcoin, has really sunstantial potential. Only time will tell.
We have different opinion on the above topic as posted, its a bit crazy to know that your are here in Bitcoin forum and yet the posted question is quite the opposite, What Bitcoin has become now is because of the superior System of technology, the blockchain, the fundamentals, the market structure and the high level of confidence of investors for Bitcoin. It is still the number one among the ALT coin posted in the market until of this writing. i don't think crypto currency can stand as of today in the market with out Bitcoin. |

I'm thinking of many logical comparisons where we can describe bitcoin has the highest position of them all.
But to explain briefly since there are too many posts that have said their opinions about the question and most of them told almost the same on my mind.
I'll only say to those that are thinking that crypto market can stand without bitcoin, crypto's will never be too strong and the same without bitcoin.

I know we can not underestimated the power of altcoin, but for now, i think it will be very hard to altcoin to beat the domination of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the first, and the most popular coin among all, and if want to break all of that domination, i think we have to wait maybe 10 years from now, but i think it will be very hard. |

No because bitcoin makes the crypto grow and if there is no bitcoin then the crypto will not grow for the reason that the bitcoin makes the crypto grow and it is the only coin that has the higest value and the higest volume that is circulating not like in other coins the volume is few and the value is not that high so the other coins are not that profitable unless you are harworking in finding ways to add up your coins.
