from ico rating, maybe I believe 50%. because the ico rating alone does not determine ico's success. how the project works is what determines the success or failure of ico at the end of the period.

the first thing I did to choose an ICO usually did see the rating first. but over time and I've also searched for information in this forum. it turns out that the rating is only open but needs to be noticed, but also from the ICO team, are they already handling any projects and looking for information on social media about the ICO?

all the top ICO rating site have package plan for any ICO being listed on their website which varies from premium to free rating. some premium rating are the paid rating that you are talking about. some of this site even have advertisement banner to promote some site being listed on the website. however investors should know that ico rating site is not enough in accessing any ICO. you need to do your own research before taking part in any ICO. it is no more news that some top rated ICO have turn out to scam.

I personally do not trust ICO rating sites which get paid for their reviews. There are many ICO rating sites which review for free. One can trust these sites for their unbiased review but stay away from paid review sites.

With all that said, should it still be a factor to look at when investing in ICO?
I do not trust any ICO rating sites as of now. When looking for a factor in ICO you need to spot a good ICO. I will just share my ways of finding one. Let's start with Total coins, in this the fewer the better. In fundraising goal below $50m is good. You also need to know what will happen to unsold coins/token. Discount, it's good to know if there's a discount. Read the whitepaper, see for you self if the goal is attainble. Look for the Team Track record, i advise don't base on the adviser, to me a lot of them are paid. What type of coin, i preferred utility coin. What market are they targetting, gaming, advertising, etc. Distribution of fundraised money, see what % allocated in marketing, legal, product. I preferred more allocation of funds in marketing, more marketing more hype.

They seem biased to me. A friend of mine who's doing an ICO told me that they paid 10ETH for 5 quality ratings and that's that! I noticed that some ICOs with good project, team, and good social media presence are struggling with getting good reviews.

With all that said, should it still be a factor to look at when investing in ICO?

To be honest, do not trust these sites. Truth is told by people in the comments "information can be bought", on these sites you can take useful information about the project. Trust only yourself and do the analysis of projects yourself. You will understand this.

there can be fake ratings.  so do not trust all of them.  i personally would refer to icodrops. but still, i will always do my own research and always follow my guts.  but no matter what, never invest money that you cannot afford to lose.  this is the first principle in investment.
That's exactly the same opinion I adhere to, because I also think that ratings can not be delivered correctly. This is not a correct system, which basically has a lot of minuses and disadvantages are very significant.

No, I don't, Usually, these sites only put the ratings to those sites who request them to and who pay them money to list the rating and give them above 4 starts. So this is only business I do not trust them as the website and the ICO is making money through the work of people.

No, i dont trust ICO rating sites because they are just paid to make good review even though the project is not good enough. Many people are losing asset because they invest to not so good campaign review by the ICO rating websites.

I never believed in ICO rating sites, because in my opinion ICO rating sites can be obtained by voting or paying and it makes me not too confident with the ICO rating sites.

rating sites are not the main reason to get the best ico, if you pay, you can get a good rating. so can it be trusted? do they provide real and objective value? I'm sure not.

Instead of looking through different rating of different ICO rating sites, you should learn how to assess and research the ICO that you want to invest thoroughly. These ICO ratings doesn't dictate the future price of the coin.

I do not really trust the ratings and I analyze all the information I get on the Internet. Rating is needed only to get acquainted with the project. I think that need to learn everything yourself.

I always paid attention to the ratings, which different resources put projects. I certainly suspected that they could be bought, but after your words I thought even more Sad

We should not go blindly with the ico rating website. At least we can take it as reference. We cannot search all of the ico right. So we could take this as filter medium. From this we can research in our own way.

Well you basically need to view those ico rating scams to get more information about the project but if you think that the site did not get that much info.or as you say that its biased then you should conduct your own research before getting into any ICO.

the sites give a good overall overview over how other people sees the ICO you are interested in.

with that said whenever you invest your own money you should ALWAYS make the decision from your own data and gutfeeling.

everybody can tell you to buy X but only you can make the decision to pull the trigger.

I think rating ICO is not good factor to identify the good one. Faith on your own research. Recently, i follow scidex  they are helping scientists to share data.

Personally I do nut trust to the ICO rating sites. I try to analyse the data that I can find and collect aout the project itself, the team, advisors, and try to understand their idea and strategy - after I make the conclusion, very often I ask for advise my close friends who are in crypto and aftr make the final conclusion about the project.
