After lengthy discussions I have managed to persuade KingArbin, against his better judgement I have to admit, to release the demo version of the game as it stands.

Networking problems are just taking too long to resolve and we think you guys deserve something for all your patience.

This will be by no means the final version of the game and there won't be a lot of original stuff but hopefully this will help confirm that the Coin2 project is moving forward.

New levels and original content are being worked on everyday and updates will be provided regularly.

There may be glitches. There may be teething problems so please be patient with us. We've gone out on a limb a bit here. It would have been much better to have several more weeks to smooth down the rough edges but you've all waited long enough.

Please remember, this is just a demo. No great fanfare, no huge claims. Just an opportunity for you to get a feel for what we are developing and the huge opportunity we are going to provide for gamers and investors alike.

System requirements to run the demo:

Desktop PC or Mac:

Windows 7 32-bit or Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later
Quad-core Intel or AMD processor, 2.5 GHz or faster
NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series card or higher
8 GB RAM

Laptops:

Here are some laptop specs that other users have and how well they reportedly work:

OS: Windows 7 32bit
Processor: Intel i7 2.3ghz
Memory: 12gb
Graphics: gtx670m
Average fps: 20~30

**WinRAR 5 required**

12.00PM GMT - 13.00 BST - 14.00 CET

2 hours until release

This is the basic engine for the game. A further demo will feature unique levels and multiplayer options. Then comes Coin2 integration and a full beta release.

I will be pestering constantly for a date for the Coin2 demo/beta and will update when I have any more news.

System requirements are a little high aren't they? An i7 with 12gb RAM puts out only 20-30 FPS...
The percentage of the world's population that have machines that even come close to this spec is minuscule.

Thomas Edison (yeah, the guy that invented motion pictures) said that a minimum of 40 FPS was required for smooth video and that was in 1894!

An i5 will run it... most machines within the last 3 years will run this on low graphics, those were specs copied to run the editor for the game itself. dont worry about it til you try it, just make sure you have directx 11 and visual C++ redistributal 2013 installed before you do, and open the rar file with winrar 5 or better. Just think of these as what is required to run the game smoothly, not the minimum.

So, the minimum then.

Sorry man, will try to get kalisto to compile a mac version

and one of our level designers is able to run it with a 1gb graphics card.. so should be fine for most systems as long as u have all the required things needed to run it. Dx11 and microsoft visual C++ redistributal 2013

Good news its here! Smiley

I'm able to run it on a duo core 32bit with 3 gigs. soon I will have a extra gig of mem soon when I upgrade to 64bit. I got a 1gig card too
You should run it in fullscreen mode if you are low on ram. it seems to run better, then in a window.  My computer is really old though.

Cool. Can someone post a picture or two. Running a machine with no card.

Glen, given the release of a demo, are we now to expect a development roadmap?

That's the plan. I'll be all over the team trying to get news and solid dates, you can count on it.

Progress has been slow but with more people working on the game now hopefully things can speed up.

There are some technical questions emerging that I can't answer unfortunately.

One of the board members will be along in due course to answer these.

From next week I will be posting DAILY updates with progress reports. They will most probably be short and sweet but even if it's 'no news today because....etc.' there will be something coming from me as long as the board allow me to hang around.

I want an exact date for the full demo release ASAP. It's a top priority and absolutely crucial so we can begin promotion and build interest. I'm also going to attempt to get an estimate for the full game release although I know this is like asking 'how long is a piece of string'. Nevertheless, a rough date in the future shouldn't be too difficult to predict once everything is taken into account and the devs have been consulted.

I would also like to gauge interest for a weekly IRC meeting where we can all get together. I will try and get at least one board member to attend along with myself. If anyone is interested in this idea and attending, let me know. We have to start engaging and communicating more.

First 5 people to post 5 screenshots of the game engine in this thread get 1000 Coin2 from my personal kick.

GO!
