Thank for this.

So is it a good idea to unlock the wallet and let the POS/minting work?

Thanks

How does the POS work?

Don't really understand the POS/POW jargon to be honest!

Is it safe to unlock the C2.1 wallet for POS and when and how does it all work?

Help understanding it all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!  Smiley

Proof of Stake is a proposed alternative to Proof of Work. Like proof of work, proof of stake provides a mechanism for determining who signs bitcoin transactions (see "main" bitcointalk thread, and a Bounty Thread).

It was probably first proposed here by Quantum Mechanic. With Proof of Work, the probability of mining a block depends on the work done by the miner (e.g. CPU/GPU cycles spent checking hashes). With Proof of Stake, the resource that's compared is the amount of Bitcoin a miner holds - someone holding 1% of the Bitcoin can mine 1% of the "Proof of Stake blocks".

Some argue that methods based on Proof of Work alone might lead to a low network security in a cryptocurrency with block incentives that decline over time (like bitcoin) due to Tragedy of the Commons, and Proof of Stake is one way of changing the miner's incentives in favor of higher network security.

Quote
A proof of work is a piece of data which was difficult (costly, time-consuming) to produce so as to satisfy certain requirements. It must be trivial to check whether data satisfies said requirements. Producing a proof of work can be a random process with low probability, so that a lot of trial and error is required on average before a valid proof of work is generated. Bitcoin uses the Hashcash proof of work.

One application of this idea is using hashcash as a method to preventing email spam, requiring a proof of work on the email's contents (including the To address), on every email. Legitimate emails will be able to do the work to generate the proof easily (not much work is required for a single email), but mass spam emailers will have difficulty generating the required proofs (which would require huge computational resources).

Hashcash proofs of work are used in Bitcoin for block generation. Proofs of work that are tied to the data of each block are required for the blocks to be accepted. The difficulty of this work is adjusted so as to limit the rate at which new blocks can be generated by the network to one every 10 minutes. Due to the very low probability of successful generation, this makes it unpredictable which worker computer in the network will be able to generate the next block.

For a block to be valid it must hash to a value less than the current target; this means that each block indicates that work has been done generating it. Each block contains the hash of the preceding block, thus each block has a chain of blocks that together contain a large amount of work. Changing a block (which can only be done by making a new block containing the same predecessor) requires regenerating all successors and redoing the work they contain. This protects the block chain from tampering.

The most widely used proof-of-work scheme is SHA-256, which was introduced by Bitcoin. Some other hashing algorithms that are used for proof-of-work include scrypt, Blake-256, CryptoNight,[1] HEFTY1, Quark, SHA-3, scrypt-jane, scrypt-n, and combinations.

Did it again  Grin

This time I created, printed and lacquered my own C2 QR-Codes to spread them again Wink
I would love to see them everywhere around the globe...
So if anyone interested in getting some of these (need to be cutten by yourself) let me know.
We might be able to donate a little for cost of materials. This way I might be able to ship some to you for free....

Yes. By doing so you help protect the network and also earn coins in return Smiley

To Quote UdjinM6 and to address this question about the Mintpal BTC payment, everyone take notice of
this chart, and this Wallet address:

CWbPEgm3RUVQKkzEASuv17cn6yegtmiiNC 96599.34216270

Notice how this one seems to be collecting the most C2, it also has over 38.73 MH/s

Bittzy rented a mining rig to secure our network until block 30,000 when the PoW phase Ends.

Mintpal offered 3 BTC for our trouble and wont pay til PoW phase is done.

So since Bittzy has had to spend his own personal BTC to secure the network, the board agreed to compensate him for his efforts.

Does anyone object to this?

I wouldn't think there should be that many objections since so little of you have offered hashes to help. UdjinM6 even added block rewards to help entice people to mine and secure the PoW blocks and hardly anyone has helped but a handful.

I do not object. As a matter of fact if you need some C2 donations I can offer a few.

I would definately mine but i do not have the hardware to do so. Dont think my laptop could offer any help. Honestly its one of the reasons i started looking at c2 before the 'pos' craze. I felt i was at a disadvantage not being able to mine.

As far as the 3 btc from minty....by all means bittzy should get it....maybe bitz can even offer some to kalisto to buy a new computer. Some posts back kalisto posted he was working off an old computer....

Cant wait til the pow is done so we can move forward....and remember all; if u arent playing the trade game, stick your c2 in your wallet to help secure the network and you will get some additional c2 for your doing so.

I am working off a old ass server lol. But i wouldn't ask for a new computer from him, since by the time all the mining is done
he may have .25btc leftover from his mining contracts.

If anyone wants to buy me a new pc though. Tiger direct takes Bitcoin.!

That sounds fair of course. 3 BTC spread out over the community wouldn't make much difference anyway. I was just curious if they were true to their word and if it was anything more than a token.

I have talked to Mintpal Jay several times on this issue and he really seems to be on the up and up.

They wanted to wait until Block 30,000 to do the payout though, so I will wait.

Yeah, by the time this is all over, I will be in the hole somewhere north of 2.5 Bitcoins.

Well guys we had a change of heart, and since this is page 420 it needs to be graced with something epic, proudly presenting Two of our models for Chain of Conflict, done by Nikhil, posed by Roslin.  You will recognize the banker to the left, and im gonna call the female one Sigorney Croft, lol.

Notice the Epic Mountains!!!

Also a showcase is included of some of Nikhils custom weapon models made for the game.

Very nice and the girl looks quite similar to Mrs Hoddle  Cheesy

Nothing to do in airport waiting area, decided to take a peek on exchanges. I couldn't believe seeing BTer and Bittrex, even Mintpal price are dropping. Then I checked on top100 richlist, Mintpal is dumping it's Coin2.1 cold wallet holding?  The number seems match on the traded in across exchanges. Could someone enlighten me?

I dont understand the question...mintpal is dumping its holding? Mint pal as an exchage does not own coins but rather "houses" peoples coins for them to trade with...if the mintpal wallet is going down that means people are taking their coins off the exchange...which is a good thing. Last time too many people held their coins on the exchages and didnt stake their holdings...(which still boggles my mind that someone would trust an exchage to be their wallet.) How many need to 'poof' and disappear before people learn.

As far as prices go. Its been pretty stable between 270-360 sats give or take for awhile.
