the 10 minute block is a little long, it should be probably 1-5 minutes, so that transactions dont take forever, and a maybe kimoto should be also implemented so that if a pool stops mining it doesn't stop everything.

Did you get coins? The distribution is not over, you may get yours by tomorrow. People with empty wallets are not in the blockchain.
