Grin
Its my gut feeling that in the year 2014, more coin developers will place an emphasis on anonymity. Many coins are announcing the plans for adding anonymous features now, just as an after thought.

Seems like bitcoin was beta however mainstream beta. It is true we need more privacy. Bitcoin devs like Gavin Andresen find altcoins more interesting when they address the transactions differently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxEWRORzLSc he says so in the first minute here. He doesnt mention Darkcoin by name but says only a few altcoins interest him. They are cool but will struggle with bitcoin for mainstream adoption. Wallets are cool too but only go so far as to stay within the confines of bitcoin protocol.

"The most technically solid method for protecting the anonymity of bitcoin transactions may be to create a new bitcoin altogether, starting with privacy as a first principle. That’s the approach taken by Darkcoin, an alternative cryptocurrency launched in January.  Darkcoin implements CoinJoin, though it calls the feature DarkSend." http://www.wired.com/2014/05/bitcoin-anonymous-projects/

Economicaly speaking:
same amount of max coins as bitcoin.                                 DRK 1 / 1 BTC
# of wallets 100x less the bitcoin                                       DRK 1 / 100 BTC
currently priced  100 drk to 1 btc1                                    DRK 100/ 1 BTC
far more anonymous then bitcoin will ever be.                       DRK 1/ 0 BTC
Truly genius full time Darkcoin developer Evan, who made the X11 algorythm for the next generation digital currencies.
X11 Over X3 times faster then bitcoin. 30% less electricity and heat by 50%.
Many factors have me, an unbiased cryptomaniac to prefer Dark. The final target price of DRK is atleast 1 to 1 BTC. I may sell a few when the price hits the mid 400s.  Cool

Once people realize MRO's superior anonimity to DRK this coin will explode. DRK is doomed due being a Bitcoin fork, which means big problems when trying to have fully functional ring signatures.

The best coin for me to invest in 2014 is NEM. No other coin has such an enthusiastic community.

I would really start to look into Darkcoin...seems that one of the features Cryptocurrency users value most, is anonymity.

Darkcoin has just a hype like auroracoin had before. It seems to me like a typical pump and dump.
Do you remember when auroracoin hit 25 USD?
Maybe Darkcoin is just something like Aurora 2.0.

+100

100% it is. its not the only crypto doing anonymous tx's. nxt could have done it but theres far more important projects that had to be developed instead so they put nxt privacy(thats what they are calling it, different levels of privicy for different users) to the back of the Que!

yes, and i think that ANC with Zerocoin implementation is next big thing in cryptoworld

The biggest issue in Cryptocurrency today is anonymity.

The only real anonymous technology is cryptonote.

Monero is the best of all cryptonote coins.

For this reason, Monero is the most important altcoin you should invest.

Experts agree with that.

I know you from the Monero-thread. Now its crystal clear why you're promoting Monero right here. Wink
Well, i can understand you.
For me the best altcoins are NEM, EXO, maybe NXT, too. (without holding EXO or NXT at the moment).

Monero is inferior to Bytecoin (BCN).

Monero is a Fork of BCN, at any point BCN could make changes to their coin that are difficult to replicate as they are the true proffesionals.

I read and disagreed with the analysis for the following reasons:

1. Darkcoin instant mining is NOT true. Darkcoin value at formation was close to zero. ANYONE could have bought available supply in the early days. The fact that the devs bought and held attests to their foresight and self belief.  But, I don't think they hold anywhere near 2 Million coins.  I know one Chinese miner who has 300k darks though.

2. Monero is not tested technology. I just don't know anything about it and it hasn't been around long enough.  However, if darkcoin works, why should I bother with untested tech?

3. Darkcoin is based on the bitcoin protocol, which is tested.  It is not perfect but it is definitely good enough.

4. Darkcoin is undervalued compared to litecoin, which offers no privacy.

5. If monero tech is any good, why shouldn't I buy bytecoin, upon which it is based?

These are my objections.  Please debunk and question them.

Few comments regarding DRK.
Anyone who truly believes that what happened with Darkcoin launch was a "mistake" or "accident" deserves the award for being naive.
It was well planned and executed by developer, who now probably has complete control over this coin.

But just maybe - Its not too bad that dev controls the coin? Lets suppose that he will just gradually sell hes stake and will be a multimillionaire soon. Perhaps he desires even higher price and only sells when he needs some money. Price rise will give him more motivation to work hard and perhaps even take on Litecoin market cap some day.
Lets just hope that he doesnt get bored or stuck in hes development which results with massive dump and clear death for the coin.
Do hope so.

so many shitcoins to choose.

True, theres only really a handful of worthwhile altcoins, top of the pack is darkcoin.
The fact so many people resort to bad attempts at defacing it because they want their shitcoin to rise just shows how much of a threat it is.

From someone who has created a coin (rather than purely cloning one), I can tell you it is not easy to work with the protocol.  I can easily imagine a situation where the coin formula was messed up.  In fact, I know dogecoin will eventually run into integer issues.  Also, max coin in the protocol does not actually mean max coin in circulation.  There are many issues to deal with.  I can easily see a new developer getting caught out.

Also, let's not forget the Devs were actively trying to buy their own coin in the early days. Now, if they actually had 2 million coins from day one, why would they do that?!?  Anyway, I can understand the general scepticism but from what I can tell, the Darkcoin Decentralised Privacy innovations are genuine. Darkcoin deserves to be valued above litecoin, which offers zero privacy.
