All the caching we have implemented might have the one or other glitch. Our apologies, we are working on fixing it.

Thank you for getting the exchange back up and running pretty quickly and keeping our coins safe in what must have been very difficult and stressful circumstances! I'm very glad your exchange is there and appreciate the contribution it makes to the alt-crypto community.

Having said that...  Smiley

Regarding the stopping of trading in IXC & SSC without notice and the deadline for withdrawal set for the day before the next alt trader (cryptotrade) is due to open.

Lucky for me I had nothing significant in these, but at least one new user is already facing a 99%+ loss in value of what had an exchange value of thousands of dollars until Vircurex went down: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=169602.0

I'm astonished you're not worried about the potential reputation hit of this.

Regardless of the technicalities or fairness, after lots of Chinese whispers there will surely be future discussions that at best include Vircurex in the list of exchanges where an attack combined with the exchange's own decisions resulted in the loss of users' coins, and at worst as a confiscation/haircut of customer's money.

The merits or otherwise *ahem* of IXC & SSC will be beside the point.

Though the reasons for discontinuing of SC and IXC came very abrupt, this decision did not come easy. As we were working on addressing upgrading the infrastructure to larger and newer operating systems it became apparent, that those two chains had little if any support at all when it comes to source code maintenance.  Both chains had been not receiving any development support for ages and all of us providing support for these chains had been running a consistent and measurable risk in doing so. We as an Exchange have an obligation to protect our overall customers, and as such sometimes need to take decisions that might conflict with the interset of an individual.

Should you be interested and willing to run a BTC/IXC or a BTC/SC exchange, let me know, I'll be more than willing to help set it up.

Which currency?  IXC?  Well, if noone is mining it, then there are no block to confirm -> no deposits possible.

No, one of the others.  It is showing now so it might have just been a caching thing or something.

Thanks for fixing it so fast.

I've found a little displaying problem.
I use German as the language in the vircurex settings.
Before the reopening the numbers were displayed in the German number format with a comma instead of the point (1,5 for one and a half).
Now the numbers are displayed in some sections of the website in the German format in others in the English format with German settings.
E.g. the "Your balances" section is showing commas and the "BTC - Bitcoin" is sowing points.

Keep up the good work!

Me too.

Is the discontinuation of stop order functionality really permanent? That seems like a strange step to take for an exchange... I usually just buy and hold so it won't affect me too much, but it seems rather odd to get rid of such an important function...

Otherwise, nice job getting up and running. Happy to be using Vircurex once again for all my scammy altcoin needs (lol). Tip: If something like this happens in the future, the first thing you should say on Bitcointalk is "THE WALLETS ARE SAFE." :-D Just so we don't have heart attacks.

I am pleased to know that vircurex is back online.  Cool

I'm also pleased to announce:

JDBIF (http://jdbif7.blogspot.com.br/) is breathing a wind of life into the options tab, both on Vircurex(www.vircurex.com) and on Crypto::Stocks (www.cryptostocks.com). I hope it gets some trade movimentation really soon.

Only good news!  Grin

With many users contacting us about IXC, we have decided to put it up again,  BUT please remember there is no source code maintenance being done on this chain, USE AT OWN RISK, if the chain breaks, ultimately all coins are lost.

mmpool.bitparking.com will soon be reactivating the merged mining that there should be sufficient network hashing power to get those incoming and outgoing transactions posted again.
