The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Dude giveaways are to spread the wealth you premined not to throw a penny for beggars. You should give away at least a block value of coin per member. Digibyte and other succesfull premined coins paid in giveaway several block values per member

Premine 2%
Here dev, please learn how to make a fair premine + giveaway: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483847.0Let it be known. After premine, a giveaway of less than 1 block means nothing but "not to be trusted".Also add a ledger.

I believe they will have also some giveaway but I do support big amount for free, maybe for services yes. 1000 per address as free giveaway it is more than good start, or maybe 5000 for first 100-200 address pool exist : http://p2pool.e-pool.net:8851/static/

But 2% premine must pair with generous giveaway which stay in multiple block value for a single person. Look at digibyte or leafcoin. Massive giveaway is for alternetive sharing coins not only by minning and by tipping pool operators with millions of coins this will not get enough attention. Masses are needed to support the coin and masses wont suport for 1k- 10k coins which will never worth even 0.01 btc

So I now have a gabillion birdcoins. Well, not quite that many, but I have hit several blocks today. But what do I do with them? Print out the keys and frame it and hang it on the wall? Or is someone working on a marketplace? Or getting them on an exchange?

Ok. I just tried to buy some birds with these coins. But the people at the pet shop just looked at me funny. I don't want to alarm anyone, but I am beginning to believe that these coins are not actually exchangeable for birds.

Within about an hour and a half a pool will be up at http://birdcoinpool.tk. It's gonna be 1% fee with PPLNS payout system, and like my other pool we will do a weekly giveaway of approximately 25% of the pool's earnings. Please give me a little while to get DNS set up and a wallet running. See you soon!

What the heck is going on with this linux wallet? I'm having hell getting it to run on my server... Compiled on my home box, ran, uploaded to server, won't run... Working on it! Soon as that's fixed the pool will be ready to go.

Several people have reported issues with it, specifically the DNSseed. I'm mining it from a linux box, but my wallet is on a windows machine. No issues with the windows wallet so far.

Not really wanting to do it but I may just have to host pool's wallet from my home windows machine, for now... Ugh. Oh well, it'll work. Pool ETA 30 mins.

addnode=120.145.149.109 HA! I tried a bunch of IP's and noticed a a pool on the same domain as a different coin, bam. Anyway, http://birdcoinpool.tk IS up and running now. Mr Developer, if you read this, please fix us up a linux wallet. I've got the pool hacked together at the moment and I hate stale shares. Everyone come mine with us and get a chance to win 25% of the pool's earnings!! Edit: I just soloed the first block. Everything is looking good. Everything will look better when the dev fixes up the linux wallet

Compiled a new linux wallet with the information I was given and now everything's working great! https://mega.co.nz/#!ydEz0YyJ!Z2xUV5qBUECBSYPizF5GH5f0L4BONJUg34Y6mJ-MdBMThere's a link to a .gz archive with the DNSSeed fix, there's also a compiled birdcoind in there as well. Anyone can use that or just compile a new one. I didn't strip debug symbols or anything, just left it as is. If you compile a new one, make sure to chmod 755 build_detect_platform in src/leveldb/ Remember everyone, every week we're giving away 25% of the pool's earnings, so come and mine with us at http://birdcoinpool.tk!

Sorry for the late response. An issue at work kept me away for a while. Congrats on finding a solution to the wallet problem - although that should be the job for the developer(s). Any word from him/her/them? Developer involvement seems to be an important part in the success and popularity of a coin, so it would be nice to hear something.

lol you guys.. Surely we can do something with birdcoin, possibly talk an exchange into accepting them? I haven't looked around much but isn't there an open source solution for setting up some type of *coin gambling site? That might be fun. What I don't get is how you dump a halfway broken release and just abandon it. Maybe the dev is brewing up a new broken coin. Or, maybe that's the point, to distract everyone so we're busy collecting birdies while they're doing something more profitable.. Just dumb conjecture. Anyway, I'll keep the pool open a while, it's fun watching the auto payouts pop up every minute or two, in the meantime getting ready for OctoCoin!

What about the 140,000,000 pre-mined coins? We'd have to overcome that. If we fix this coin (which has mostly been done, thanks to Edric), and get it on an exchange (which wouldn't take tremendous effort), the dev will dump the premine, profit off our work, and drive the price down in the process. Is it still worth it for us?

Woohoo, I'm glad there's finally interest! I'm not much of a coder, more of a sysadmin and technician, but I'll be glad to help in any way possible. Also for getting on an exchange, I would suggest spamming support@xnigma.com with emails and visiting xnigma.com (maybe) and see if they're interested in adding. Hey, they added OctoCoin I believe without any persuasion. As far as premines go, yeah, that's kinda a pain in the arse, but we've seen worse survive. Please support our pool at http://birdcoinpool (dot) tk by mining with us and donating to the pool!

Whoever is taking over this project needs to speak with support@xnigma.com about getting on the exchange. It's possible he'll add it if we have enough support and the dev on board.

Yesss, I just dumped my stupid 888 Octocoins I solomined at launch for a very nice .007 BTC at xnigma. Apparently anything goes over there. They have things I never heard of. I will email them or see about getting Bird added. At the very very least, it would be nice to have a place to unload our Birdcoins.

Good, don't let this one die. Difficulty is still extremely low, you could solomine blocks with 30kh. If we can get into an exchange, even at 1 satoshi, you can make a nice little profit off this one.

The Xnigma admin is going to add Birdcoin, but he wants someone to make up a better logo for him to show on his site. Not the parrot or the default one lol. Let's make this happen, guys!
You mean he doesn't like my parrot?

I'm interested in purchasing some Bird coin. Don't get your hopes up... I don't want to pay a lot for it. But, it might be an option to dump a bunch of it that you were thinking of deleting anyway.
Offers?

THE BIRD lol, where the heck have you been? We fixed your wallet, got pools ( http://birdcoinpool(dot)tk) and a block explorer going, and started negotiations with some exchanges while you were MIA! We had your back and didn't let it die off while you were gone so shoot us a little bit of that premine Anyway, whatever you have planned for a new logo, give support@xnigma.com an email and show him and let him know what's planned, I exchanged a few emails with him earlier, linked him to the source code I modded and he's got a wallet running but was wanting to see a new logo, something he can show on the site that'll catch the eye. I was thinking something like an "angry bird"-ish face (but discernably different so as not to create copyright issues) on a shiny coin would be kind of cool, but I'm no artist and no good with Photoshop. What do you guys think??

Also, for the first weekly giveaway at my pool, I'm estimating 250k Birdcoin to give away. Don't miss out! Just be an active miner anytime this week and trigger an automatic or manual payout and you'll be entered into the drawing.
Throwing some hash power your way.

I like the new logo, maybe the little BRD coin icon can be spiffed up a little though. Also you forgot to put a new icon on the actual .exe. I'm glad you're back, though, OP! I have no plans to shut down my BirdCoin Pool and hope the network grows and grows!

I hope that not everyone does. I'd like for BRD to be worth more than 1 satoshi, lol. I'm working on getting my pools to be self-sustaining for a start, then work on making a real income off after that, while still offering competitive fees, incentives, and excellent service for people who select my pools.

When is your Pool Draw ? Drawing is going to be Thursday. Looks like around 300k is up for grabs. I'm putting my personal earnings in the mix as well so may be a little more. Here's how it's going to work. I find the number of users at the time of the drawing in the DB, then do a random(number of users here) and I will take the number it returns (userID), find username from that, and then verify that they are eligible (they received any payout over the week), then send them the prize winnings. If the userID drawn isn't eligible, or it's me, I just repeat the process til I find one that is. I'm just wondering since the prize is such a big one if I should pick 2 winners and split it? What do you guys think? I really want to offer you guys something that other pools do not, an added value for mining with me.

OK, I was bored!! I think this coin needs an attitude!!! LMAO marty! Went to bed last night because the cable went out and the only wifi I can get into has a horrible signal and is slow as dialup.. We were around 85~ MH last night but it's died back off to 4-ish. At one point we were just hitting consecutive blocks, about 3 a minute! Good thing about it dying back off is diff went down again. This is a lot of fun!

You need to update the title thread that you are now on an exchange. That will get interest in the coin again.

What are the right settings to make this work?

Nice to see a bright looking and colorful logo for a coin. I also like birds so downloaded the wallet today. I also wanted to check the price on the exchange but it is down at the moment so off for a cuppa tea. I will check back tomorrow.

I've got exact numbers now for the giveaway! I went ahead and rounded it off to an even 2M BRD!
It's going to be split in 2 pieces, with the first winner getting 1333333.333333333 and the runner-up getting 666666.6666666667
I'll announce the winners in 3 hours! Make sure your payout addresses are set and valid and you've received at least one payout, I'm validating userID's against payout logs!

There's some guides here and there, I kinda adapted the quick start page on MPOS github to my own needs. It's really not all that hard, just installing a billion dependencies, editing config files and getting everything to play nicely. It's when its running and things break that it gets rough. So far the BRD pool has been the most trouble free I've ever dealt with, aside from the initial issues getting the wallet to compile and sync. Zero problems out of MPOS or my database! If you're interested in getting into MPOS, read the entire github site, and read it again, then start playing with it on a local install of ubuntu or something, to get used to it.

Because Edric needs brd too :b God, at 1 satoshi even, if I had a good miner, this would be a decent little earner. I still think it can go to maybe 7-8 satoshi if we could get in a decent exchange. It wouldn't hurt to PM Bittrex-Bill here on the forums and see if it's possible to get in there. This coin may be little and holding on for dear life but we are holding it together. Getting it in a good exchange would probably be pretty good for it. Honestly, though, I'd be nice if my pool would be 15-20MH during the night, and die off during the day so diff falls back off, and as long as tons of people and Multipools don't rape it, we got us a small little monopoly here :b At first glance you'd think our network was dead, but it isn't.. Sleeper coin.

I was awake a while longer and looking around for "dice" scripts and crap, and just found nothing but a buttload of scams or people wanting money for ripped off scripts (with plenty of coded in scams), so I went digging around on github for a bit and found some stuff.. I'll post more later but this one caught my eye, it can be easily modded to work with BRD, for fun! https://github.com/ripper234/Bitcoin-Potato.gitIf anyone has any gambling or gaming scripts, we need some games up for BirdCoin, and for 888 as well. I could probably sweep off some server space somewhere if we need a game script hosted, gotta be verified clean though!

Its the amazing fountain of youth... Birdcoin!
In just twenty minutes or so you can solo mine enough coins to be worth 41 cents US if its only at one satoshi. But its going to sell for 8 satoshis. So, with a decent $500 video card you can make four dollars an hour with this coin. You will break even in less than a week. After one month you will have made $1500.
Of course, it needs to be on an exchange for that to happen. And it is on one, but that one doesn't seem to have a line up of buyers. But the next exchange will fix that up.
When you finish mining Birdcoin... I have a bridge to sell you.
I also have three brand new R9-280X cards for sale. PM for details on price in BTC... or... the price in Birdcoin if you have some spare.

Huh.. My sarcasm detector is working today! 8 satoshi... crazier things have happened.. My druggie ex wife made me sell most of my BTC not long after it came out and was worth 50 cents! Heads up everyone, http://birdcoinpool.tk is changing domain names tomorrow to http://brd.fedaykin.us. Bitcoin is a Rollercoaster ride, It was going for just under $600 AUD Last week and a few days ago was at $725 AUD, This is the reason why people say It's Volatile but it stays at its Median Range, We will never see a $100-$300 BTC EVER Again, Trust Me !

Bitcoin was more or less stable for the last weeks. Now out of the blue a small downtrend that started on Saturday is amplifying . If you do remember the history of bitcoin , you should know that those kind of downtrends that start for no reasons at all persist until there are good news (really good) or huge volume coming out of nowhere in the exchanges. But , lately... those things are not that likely any more .Huge amounts of coins and cash lost , credibility of exchanges down the drain. Investors are starting to use off market buying and so on... I might be wrong , and that might happen seconds after I type this , but the situation isn't going to change to soon. Without this , the downtrend will continue. And in this situation even 10% of a loss is cutting in the profits of altcoin like hell. Besides , all the alt are suffering even more than bitcoin and this is just increasing the fear.

We need the developer back in here and we need some fresh ideas.. We have a coin that isn't quite dead, hanging on for dear life, already in an exchange, but not doing anything. We need stuff to SPEND it on. I can't remember the name of the place now, but there's a place where you can buy stuff, and they take tons of different *coin.

I'm not giving up on this coin yet. Mining right now in the pool. Dev has to step forward and tell about his/her future association with the coin. If the dev is not interested the community can take over.

I'm not wanting to give up either, but the pool costs money to run. We really need the dev to get interactive with the community. I hope he's not just "coding" another coin right now! lol It's going to be up to the community as to how long my pool survives. As long as there's interest, it's open. To try to breathe some life into BRD, I'm doing the giveaway today, and instead of 25% I'm going to put some of mine in the mix so there's 3m up for grabs. Good luck!

Agreed, wish I could speak chinese! Thanks, dev, for the 1m.. It'll take a while but I'll go into the payout logs and try to find the best way to equitably distribute it to people who've mined in the past couple weeks! That is why I did the coin with an attitude logo, the Chinese eat that shit up!!! Plus maybe we can find a bird related charity, like a animal hospital for necleted birds. We need something to give value to our little coin. You start advertising that Save the abuse parrots accepts birdcoin. It gives people a reason to hit the exchanges!!!

If it helps any... seeing your post caused me to go open my Birdcoin wallet for the first time in a while. Turns out I have 5 million. At one point I was buying some for CASH coins... CASH is selling for 2000 satoshi's right now. I probably should have kept them! Crap... its still updating to the network and it appears I'm getting more BIRD. I have a bad feeling I forgot a 80kh/s rig mining it on the P2P pool. Turns out I actually have 6 Million Bird. I guess the question is really why I only made a million over a few days - I can't believe anyone else is still mining it. I'd give you ten CASH coins for ten million BIRD... just so I can say I have 16 million of a crap coin!

Putting off the giveaway til tomorrow, Birdcoin dev said he's going to contribute 1m brd, when that comes I'm going to try to split that as equally as I can among those who've been active in the pool, and I'll do the giveaway then.. If anyone wants to contribute to the giveaway, please send coins to LEVgfhsc9Rz6BUE786Z24rA8TnKfYJ1uMe
If you contributed, please make sure to mention how much you've sent so I can calculate everything properly. It's somewhere over 2m total up for grabs but I'll have to calculate what I've moved around too, then round it off to something nice. Thanks!
I've noticed something peculiar with birdcoind.. When the pool generates blocks, the address it appears to come from starts with a K, and when I run birdcoind getaccountaddress "" I get the default address which starts with a K, but all other addresses I generate start with L like they should. It's weird because the more I send stuff back and forth to the pool's wallet, the more addresses birdcoind keeps generating under the pool's wallet. Not sure if the "K" thing is a feature or a bug. Dev, you know anything about this? My other pools wallets all have addresses with the correct designations, birdcoind is the only one exhibiting this specific behavior I've seen so far. I was moving a few payments back and forth to make sure that the deposit address I have provided is functional, which it works fine, some of these coins have odd wallet behavior.
Edit: Apparently even if you send coins to the "K" address, that works too. Maybe its because of the blocks mined that show up as "immature"? Just weird, and I'm trying to comprehend why the strange addresses.

I've got maybe 3.5m in my personal wallet.. Need to figure out how to make this stuff trade-able. Maybe we could contact some sort of bird rescue organization, see if they would be interested in taking birdcoin as a form of donations, see if we can get some community support behind it. I'm not the most financially-minded guy, more of a techie, so if anyone has any ideas to expand upon these thoughts, I'd be glad to hear it. I'd like to be able to do some good for people (or animals), as well as make a few bucks too.

Sweet, I Actually Won Something Finally Figures it would be a pile of birdshit hahaha.. I'm experimenting with some stuff I found on GitHub for gambling. I'm testing and modifying it on my VM, we'll see if I can make it work with birdcoin. I've found some scripts here, one called CoinDice 2.0, but I'm absolutely sure that it's got some kind of hole in it and unfortunately my php-fu isn't up to par, at least not to where I'll know the flaw if I see it.. I want to host some games!

Like I suggested we need to get in with a national bird related charity that will accept birdcoin for donations, and have them let people know that if they buy coins the charity can exchange for MONEY!! Without something like that to spark interest, all our coins are nothing but the paper at the bottom of a birdcage!!

Just had an alert from the pool. A ton of payouts got stuck. I'll fix them, just give me a little while.
Something has gone horribly wrong.
I think I'm going to have to shut down the pool.

Oh my god. Something has gone very very wrong.
Thousands of payouts are reflected in the pool's DB as credited, yet there's no TXID and my validation script is saying they're missing. I don't know what's up with that, but after manually crediting like 25 million worth, the pool's wallet tracking is showing us hugely in the negative. There's THOUSANDS of transactions that seem to have not been credited but I really don't know if they have or not. Something is very, very wrong.
If I cannot get a handle on this I may have to shut it down, or just start a fresh pool.

Ok, things are very screwed up. I'm going to set up a fresh pool, I need everyone to withdraw their coins from the pool, and I'll have to manually fix whatever doesn't get sent. Did the blockchain fork or something? I've never personally experienced that so I wouldn't know. Everyone will have to stop mining for the moment and give everything time to confirm, just withdraw whatever you can. Once that's done, I'll have a look at what's left over, run validation on it and see where we're at. I'm very sorry. Keep an eye on the thread for the new pool and other news.

I have 5468.80959712 BRD just sitting Unconfirmed in Wallet... Even mining on P2pool BRD Server accepting shares yet nothing in wallet is confirming :/ UPDATE: Has Been Confirmed Now, so fork hasn't Happened That's good to hear, but on my pool, things are WAY screwed up. It started with crons getting stuck, so I ran my payout validation script.. Thousands of missing payouts. I ran a LOT of them manually, come to find out after digging through the block explorer, even though my validator flagged them as missing, some of these payouts did go through, and they're weeks old. Well, ok, so what's going on? Why didn't it assign a TXID to these payments? So, I run some more through, run the validate a few more times, still flagged as missing. And there's a TON of payments in the payout ledger that are all identical, so even if they're missing, running them by hand isn't going to matter. Now the wallet is saying we're near 30m in the hole. This is a real mess and there's many, many millions of BRD on the line. The wallet not assigning TXID's really screwed up things in the database. At this point, I really have no way of telling if anyone did or didn't get their payment, other than checking on a case-by-case basis. My thoughts are to stop the pool, start up a new one and move everyone to that one, since all our unconfirmed blocks are going to take forever to confirm if I just flat shut the pool down. I admittedly was not prepared for this type of scenario so I don't know what the best course of action would be. If anyone gets shorted or screwed over, I deeply apologize. I guess for now, keep mining in the pool, I adjusted some things and hopefully the discrepancies in the database won't prevent everyone from withdrawing their coins... I'm going to make a backup pool and later on we'll see about getting everyone moved to that, keeping the old one open for people to w/d their coins. I'm deeply sorry about all this.

Lots of double payouts. I still don't know why the wallet didn't give TXID to those tons of payouts, but this is a huge mess. If anyone is kind enough to return extra that they got paid out, or to chip in to help fix the pool's balance, the address is KwgpnEnaNTh53CUvdirEeqmgiyPwDqJoBd (weird that some addresses start with K, some with L)
I'm very frustrated right now, this isn't what I had in mind for this pool.

I'm just trying to get my mind around how it lets you send more than you had? Or do you mean that you lost a bunch of your own coins? I thought the point was that you couldn't run a negative balance?

I'm just trying to get my mind around how it lets you send more than you had? Or do you mean that you lost a bunch of your own coins? I thought the point was that you couldn't run a negative balance? Well, our liquid assets are in the hole. You have so much in the wallet, minus what's "locked for users", the difference is the liquid assets. In this case, in the hole. I sent all my personal stash to counter some of it, Still around -24m How the system got out of whack, I'll probably never know. The problem is, I'm not even sure if the payout discrepancies subtracted what they were supposed to from the "locked" balance. I've seen transactions get stuck before and pay them out manually, then run the validation script on them again and they show the TXID. In this case there's way too many, and the ones I fixed still didn't show up with a TXID, and a lot got double paid. At this point, it's so far out of whack that there's no hope of getting it fixed by hand, either we can let the system even itself out (by accumulating fees, donations, what I mine, etc) and pray there's no more errors and legitimately stuck payouts, or start fresh on a new pool, let people withdraw what they can, and let me slowly pay back whatever we are missing. This is the worst mess I've ever seen.

I'm kinda freakin out here. Anyway, here's a couple of things that I've noticed about the wallet in the last little bit. I was transferring my personal stash back into the pool to make up for some of the double paid stuff, and had to break it into several transactions.. 100k - Transaction too big, 90k - went through, 500k - transaction too big, 500k - went through. I even had one instance where it gave me a message that it was too big, and went through anyway. There's some issues with this wallet. Going back into the payout logs, alot that were flagged as missing were from way back when I opened the pool, I just never noticed because no flags went up until today. This is a reason I didn't enable "sendmany" for my pool, to avoid issues like this. I'm going to keep it running a couple more days to see if it craps out or not. If it keeps running without issues, I pretty much owe the pool everything I can possibly mine for the next few weeks and I'm mining and donating 100% for the wallet, but we need the developer to come in and have a serious look at the wallet's code, if that's possible. I have a feeling this is just a copy/paste job and the issues are carried over from whatever this coin was forked from. I understand if anyone's pissed. I am too, extremely so. The best I can say is be patient, lets see if this thing irons itself out or not. If you feel you're missing a payment, check http://explorer2.sancrypto.info/chain/birdcoin/ and see if you can find it. If not, please contact me and I'll see what I can do! Thanks everyone, you guys have been awesome.

Its possible that the transaction issues are a side effect of the network being small, and screwed up. I've been working a little bit on a backup pool, and the wallet WILL NOT sync. I've added every node I can find, still will not sync. I love birdcoin, very much so, but I'm afraid that there may be more deep seated problems than my screwed up pool.

I tend to agree. I've noticed some very strange behavior even when I solo mine or use the P2P pool. I'm not an expert enough to know what causes it, but I know they don't happen with other coins. That has always made me suspicious of the wallet. If there any point continuing or should the coin just be abandoned? There are plenty of other choices out there that are already on exchanges but nearly as easy to mine.

Left me with a neg balance.

Birdcoin Dev, I need you.
Gotta have a look at the wallet, how it handles large transactions. I know the windows wallet doesn't handle large transactions well, randomly failing, I think this is the root of the problem with the pool, people cashing out with big transactions, the wallet is freezing up, processing them, but not returning TXID's and fooling my payout system. It may not even be a bug in the code but just an overload of the wallet's transaction capabilities, but someone who knows what they're doing with it needs to have a look at the code. I'm just not that good with C.

Quick update. My pool is constantly on the verge of meltdown. I had to wipe off some blocks, basically mark them as accounted when they werent, but some got double paid out. There may have been a better way to do it, but it wasn't readily apparent and was only able to get payouts and the crons running again after trial and error. The root of the problem is that we are simply just finding blocks too fast, and some are getting written in the DB erroneously as a result, and causing huge trouble. For now, things are back in action and I'm furiously researching ways to compensate for us finding blocks so fast. Thanks for being patient, everyone. Once we're out of the woods I'm going to find a way to give each miner a little something extra if possible! If someone would be kind enough to translate for our Chinese friends and let them know we've been having trouble, but I'm on top of it, I'd be very thankful. Edric

But we can give you some birdcoin currency. How much birdcoin to solve this problem? Thanks, we are almost caught up now thanks to people donating! We may still have problems in the future, since we find blocks too fast! I'm working on getting a fix for that but I am not sure if it's gonna help. If we have the same kinds of problems in the future, I'm sorry, but we'll just have to deal with it as it comes. I really hated having to wipe out those bad blocks, some people didn't get some credit, but it wasn't very much. Once we build up a healthy fee buffer, I'm going to give all active users bonuses, instead of doing the weekly giveaway.

Everything's back to normal, our messed up balance is fixed, and hopefully our fast block find rate won't screw up the DB anymore. I'll be keeping a watch on it. When we build up some more coin, I'll kick everyone some extra for the blocks that got wiped (5 I think). Thanks for your patience, everyone! It's 6AM and I've been up all night, so I'll see yall tomorrow!

Yeah, I've decided that was a lost cause so I'm working on it myself. Cleaned a few things up and I'm going to try to at least have a Chinese translated Beta version out in a few hours! There's some stuff I'm going to try with the transaction handling to see if I can make the server run a little better.

Nothing fishy about it.. There's coins in the wallet, just not as much as the system thinks SHOULD be, so the liquid asset shows a negative. But yes, it's impossible for the wallet to have an actual negative balance.
Why are you guys reposting stuff I said a few days before? All that stuff is fixed now, and everyone is credited.

Still can't sync my birdcoin wallet, maybe there aint much to sync too? If a few people leave their wallets running for a few days it might give newcomers a point to sync to. Also some fresh nodes would be helpfull.
I've got all those birds but without a working wallet no way to send them out somewhere.

The wallet synced! Thanks everyone who left their wallet running.
So what's the story with the dev of this coin? He takes all the trouble of launching it premines a bunc, abandons it and then expects others to make it popular?

addnode=120.145.149.109 Glad you got it going. The dev might not be around but I am. I will be maintaining the project. I'm working on the Chinese translation. I stayed up all night last night, today's my birthday actually. I just need to get my dev tools into my new Windows VM and I'm gonna try to compile the Chinese translation.. What I did was translate strings to Chinese, then back to English and see if it still made sense. Some things I changed to try to make it easier to understand because after translation it didn't make any sense at all. Freakin google translate. Anyway, hopefully I'll have a test build up today.

Cool, I'm occasionally mining at your pool username starts with Kor and have around ~400KHs.
Diff is really low so it's easy to get a few million birds ATM. Is there any interest in China for this coin?

That's true, but the Bird is the Word! It's been around a little over a month and its still alive, so I think it'll do some good if it gets into an exchange. The chinese version hopefully will help get into an exchange!

asic scrypt is here if you want to pay $26,000 for 50 Mh/s!! Depending on how you play it, that 50MH could pay itself off in a year, possibly less. A little steep, though, if you ask me. I don't think scrypt asic is going to do to Scrypt coins what SHA asic did to BTC. The barrier of entry, pricewise, is a lot higher. I hope having a Chinese wallet gets some more interest from our friends

The pool and wallet are doing fine now, I only wish the coins tag was BIRD instead of the 3 letter BRD. Shortening it to 3 letters wasn't necessary, see MINT and MOON. Hopefully a few good people will see this coin as an opportunity and start promoting it, I would help if I had the time.

Thank you. I will work on it some more tonight or tomorrow. I didn't realize there was already a chinese localization for the wallet, I will see what I can do to fix those spots. Apparently, I did it the hard way, I edited the source code and translated it all under the English localization! Didn't realize there were already the files right there. Right in front of my eyes.

Connect with Google Chrome. Firefox just doesn't work well with it. The sysop is actively working on it, but there's still a long way to go. I'm trying to sell 100m BRD to make up for my server fees and things 100m for .4BTC

Could anyone please help me out, buy 103M Birdcoin at .5 BTC? I'm getting a bit desperate now, I'm about to go under.

How about promoting the coin instead of being desperate. You will make MUCH more money that way.

Anyway, time of desperation has passed, the servers are paid for and will stay alive! Anyway, I need to ask but I think dallas was going to make up another thread to get some more visibility. I'm supporting Bird from behind the scenes, maintaining the project, pool, and will be setting up other services as well.

Bird pool is back online. Whether it stays that way is up to the miners! It's been empty for the last several days. Likely because solo mining is just too darn easy. I soloed a couple of blocks with only 10kh.
Anyway madmartyk, if you want to find out the secret, check out the 888 thread! I'm getting ready to announce it soon.

Hello BirdCoin Community
We have added BRD to our voting poll You can vote for BRD at coinano.com/vote
What... are... you... thinking? Bird was already on another exchange and had no trades at all and eventually was removed. Why come and give false hope? I've made 30 million birdcoin in a few weeks using an 8kh miner. There simply can't be a market for it when its so plentiful.

So anything new going on? I've noticed the net hashrate has jumped and the pool's been more active. Also, when we find blocks really fast, the DB cannot keep up and we have problems.

Not too much going on I don't think. I just opened my client to see how much I have now, but it can only find two other nodes in the entire world and it is pretty slow to update. There is a fairly good chance there are just three of us left here now. What does one do with a coin that has only three people in the world? I'm thinking we need to start a museum of abandoned coins so that someone remembers them.

I finished syncing mine - I have 43.7 million now. It appears there is still around 200kh pointed at BRD. I account for 8 - I keep one old CPU miner pointed at it just to see what happens. But I'm curious where the other hash rate comes from? <Begin Self Promotion> We could use that 200kh over on the Coino coin if anyone is looking to move. I'm mining about 800 a day and the market price is pretty stable around 125 satoshi for them. Its not huge money... but its better than BRD at the moment. If you really want a deal... I'll buy all the Birdcoin anyone has for 100 Coino to get you started on that coin. <End Self Promotion>

I like this coin The logo is awful, but the coin is like DOGE, and only need some team and support. Let's move BirdCoin to Cryptsy? If someone knew the story about 'almost dead' RabbitCoin (RBBT)? This 'dead' Rabbit is on Cryptsy now - RBBT\LTC, and 5 days ago the price was about 16 liteoshi. So, who knows what will happen with Bird, if this coin appear on cryptsy... At this moment i am trying to push Bird to comkort.com - https://comkort.com/vote/#BRDWas trying to vote manually, but 3 votes a day is too slow, so i just send 0.01BTC to 1KwMsnxjWRwunH1yJmwVVyyYvUdwxNx4wy and this make +200Votes.

Not saying too much else because I'm not the project leader, that's someone else's department, but I am the one doing the compiling Keep your eyes open, new wallet is coming, and there's some ideas in the works for ways to spend your birdies, and some gambling. I've got a lot on my plate but I've been with Birdcoin from the start pretty much and have poured lots of energy into it so far. I've been neglecting the giveaway for a while, later on I'll get to it, have a few million to give away! My thanks to the community who have stood by in hard times! It's not over yet!

I still hold out some hope that we may yet be able to do something more with our birdies. I really thought our Chinese friends were gaining a fierce interest in it, but it seems to have died off. I've been so busy, I haven't really looked around at other coins lately.. Been quite a while since I just went browsing around looking at coins, got a lot to keep me busy, but if you guys need a pool for Coino let me know. Always down to help out where I can. Keep your eyes open for new developments, I just built a new wallet with a much nicer logo, handed it off to the guy who's taking charge of revamping the project.

Lets move BirdCoin to comkort.com https://comkort.com/voteVote at that moment: 2546 votes, we need more Registered users can make 3 vote in an hour, but simplest and effective way - send some BTC amount to their vote address: 1KwMsnxjWRwunH1yJmwVVyyYvUdwxNx4wy Just 0.05 BTC ($24) will do the job! We need to make this today, cause comkort.com added new markets on sunday (tomorrow - april 27).

I don't know what's going on with the release of BirdcoinV2, so I'm going to link the new logo'd wallet here as well, since people are interested. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42729667/birdcoin-qt.rarPlease note that at this time, the only changes have been graphical, so this is by no means a required update. Possibly more big things to come in the future, but I'll see what I can get done about setting up some gambling. The only problem is that, as I'm sure some of you guys are aware, the wallet does NOT do well with sending big transactions, over 20M, so I'm wary about setting up gambling, people trying to make big plays will have problems when trying to withdraw and it's a pain in the butt to recheck, verify, manually send back funds, etc.. So a few hurdles.

Im going to push this coin past 100,000 blocks, on 93k and some change, getting about 100 blocks in about 20 minutes with edrics pool with about 3.3mhs. I think alot of people see high rewards as a negative connotation. Is there any help needed from the devs ? Who is the dev or the one who is leading this coin at the moment? I could put together a site within the next couple of days. Im not the greatest on any of the artsy type stuff, but here is a go at an alternate coin image. Not that its needed, but I like this coin.

At least it's a better Logo now then the crazy eyed Bird lol

We do now, enjoy. https://mega.co.nz/#!BI5jxDSL!H5ZaTMy5zGhgVSgPEt5xVqT0kXrFhpaRcQTXdkOv2ps It is awesome to see a Mac wallet! It is, however, unfortunate that it is not compatible with 10.6

Imagine a future where IT infrastructures monitor themselves, are able to predict and respond to future business needs and can protect and heal themselves automatically.
