20th September 2011: Britcoin has now migrated to Intersango, our new platform that has been in development for the last 3 months

https://intersango.com/

For more information about the people behind the exchange, visit:

Company website: http://bitcoinconsultancy.com/
Personal biographies: https://intersango.com/about-us.php

For now it's being run very cautiously. Therefore I'm personally authorising all payments and transactions until I'm confident to switch on automation.

You can find our sourcecode on Gitorious.

Right. Check under your profile.

I'm carefully monitoring the site ATM. Everything requires my permission before the scripts can deposit into your account. This is because I'm checking + double checking in case there's errors.

Your payment should be authorised soon.

EDIT: Did you refresh the page yet? It should show up under your profile as an not yet authorised request.
EDIT2: OK, it's actually my fault. Refresh your profile now.

I hate online banking so much, it is so much work to do such a simple thing. This is one of the reasons I love bitcoin, in comparison it's so simple, so easy. And with sites like mybitcoin.com it's really so much more easy than any kind of online banking.

Whether it's more secure or not, that really depends in the individual user.

Haha, know the feeling.

Seems everybody is trying to bluff the other side to meet their prices ATM. Starting to see buyers/sellers converge towards each other.

Tomorrow I have unexpected business come up that I have to attend to. So payments may not show up in accounts until later in the day/at night.

Shame some of the values on the exchange are so wild as it really skews the average.

OK, as per a few people's suggestions, it now uses the best rate.

It says "payments have to be authorised before being added to your balance for security reasons". What does this mean?

It means that when you pay into the system, firstly new payments go into one database and appear under your profile as 'verifying'.

Then some tools are run, and after 24 hours they get credited to your account.

This is mainly because I check everyday for errors, bugs or security problems. So it gives me time to inspect what's happening before anything occurs.

In many places banks are responsible for your money, and they want that your money is safe and can only be transferred by you. That's why they have to validate that you is you. With bitcoin on the other hand, you are responsible for the bitcoins.

Besides that, card readers (doesn't really need to be USB, or actually a CARD reader) are the most secure implementations I've seen yet (I've seen a lot of unsecure "security" measures as well).

Thanks for your efforts on britcoin. I'd like to use it but was a little put off by an apparent typo on this page:

https://britcoin.co.uk/?page=deposit

Are those the details of a real account to electronically transfer money to? If so, the bank name is currently stated as "Llyods TSB". And who is Mr Taaki? Being ultra paranoid.
