Yeah, that's probably close.  Though generally if you get the first batch it seems to be much better.  I have been running my Z9 minis at 14-16k sols since batch 1 and they have almost payed for themselves already... and its been about 120 days, and they are still mining away.

I just use the 100 days ROI as starting point using current numbers.  If it says its going to take a year, that probably really means never.  If I get it at a price that puts it at 100 days currently, I'll probably make my money back and then some.

A 100 day ROI is perfectly fine by me.  I would buy every one I could afford if they drop that low.

Today!Merchant have 90 Second-hand Z1 machines for USD$2,200 to me,
but ROI needs 110 day and profit is drop so fast,
finally I gave up to buy it. Undecided

What merchants are selling for $2200?

CNY 15500 around USD2200
Free Power Supply

Expect a sub $2500 fire sales on Zig Z1 soon from all vendors.

100 days, not gonna happen. Basic rule, add double the amount on your calculation day for an Asic and you are most likely there +- some days. And this only includes the difficulty increase, not an upswing or downswing of the market.

Right, 250-300 days most likely.

About HDAC you guys are talking about...

They did a algo-swap from Lyra2Rev2 to Skunk
Source: https://hdactech.com/en/News/news.do?mode=view&articleNo=6951

Quote: The change will be applied from block number 151,880, and it will be applied on (GMT + 9) October 22, 2018.

All the guys mining there did just come "here" to us.
That's why the hashrate went up...

Just asking myself how this coin had this hashpower...anyway.
It is what it is....

Too bad. They occupied more than 50% of the Vertcoin network. Is this from a single mining pool or are they scattered everywhere?
So the date October 22, 2018 is already passed but the profit remaining still very slow for Z1.So maybe the reason of low profit is not HDAC ? Or is it normal after this change the profit to not increase ?

You guys don't get how this works do you? Blows me away that people willing to spend 5K on a miner don't even comprehend the basics.

Yes its because of HDAC, the fact that it forked on Oct 22 means nothing, let me break it down.

On October 21st, lets say there were 10,000 people using Z1 ASICS to mine HDAC , HDAC didn't like that, decided to fork on Oct 22.

Now, its Oct 22, and all 10,000 of those Z1 ASICS can no longer mine HDAC, so, they are going to jump to the next most profitable coins, which is, MONA, XVG, and VERT.

Those 10,000 ASICS will continue to mine these coins, because HDAC will never be mineable with a Z1 ever again, AKA the profit is not ever going to increase, unless the coins go up in value, or a new coin comes out that pulls people off of MONA/XVG/VERT

Make sense?
Hello. Thanks for your reply but this can not explain what happened to profitability of machine.Because as you know, the profitability of Z1 is decreased by whole -50$ in just one day (basically this happened in just few hours)!!
So it is impossible all these people of thousand miners bought their machines in same day.
But explanation given from someone, is the HDAC.But also, this seems not to explain what happened (this is why i still asking).
If all these people of HDAC it was possible to came to Lyra (by any miracle) from other algorithm, then yes , only by this way, HDAC can explain the sudden increase of difficulty. But this, as we know, it can not be happened (or, it could be happen, only if there is another machine out there, which can produce multi algorithms for example "old algorithm of HDAC" and new algorithm of HDAC, Lyra, but as i know there is not such machine).
So HDAC didnt bring new people to network from other algorithm for sure, but used existing people who already produced until now other coins (on existing profitability of 70$).
So HDAC seems is not to be the reason of profitability decreasing (or, if by anyway so happened, then by stopping produce HDAC, then difficulty should become again to normal state). Especially now we see that 22 October is passed.
Except, if we accept the impossible : that thousands people bought many thousand miners in same day, (multiple thousands of machines than already are bought in all days of life of Z1 until now), in order to produce just HDAC ! (this is impossible).
So im thinking maybe some other possible reasons
1.HDAC is not the reason , but maybe one very strong "player" started his own machines in 1 day by a extremely huge order from Dayun, or
2.Number of blocks of HDAC still didnt reach, so change to Skunk didnt happen yet (?) or
3.Many HDAC coins already produced so this increased the difficulty too much by the done POW (i am not sure how Lyra difficulty increasing) and it will be counted to any future transactions so this will increase the difficulty.
I am not sure of course and as you said , yes i am not very experienced to this !

@litecoiners - you did not understand how this works.

These figures are for explanation only.

Before 22nd Oct:

Number of Zig miners on VERT/Mona etc = 1000
Number of Zig miners on HDAC = 1000
Total 2000 Zig miners

Profit available per day on VERT etc = $100,000
Profit on HDAC = $100,000
Total $200,000

So 2000 miners sharing $200,000
Hence $100 for each miner

After 22nd, HDAC fork:

Number of Zig miners on VERT/Mona etc = 2000
Number of Zig miners on HDAC = 0
Total 2000 Zig miners
I.e. all Zig miners moved to VERT/Mona

Profit available per day on VERT etc = $100,000
Total $100,000

So 2000 miners now sharing only $100,000
Hence $50 for each miner

Hope this helps.

Is not that.Because profit dropped many days before 22nd and not at 22nd , i thought HDAC was new to Lyra.So the truth is the profit dropped the date when announced that leaving.

@litecoiners

Nope, profit was moving between 50-75$ daily. That's common and easy to understand for anyone with the slightest knowledge in mining.

Coin price can raise and lower. People can be thrown from some random algo to lyra on their GPU using Nicehash if it become the most profitable thing to mine. When that happens, the global payment for all lyra miners stays roughly the same, but having more miners mean each get a smaller part of it.

Anyway, yrk explained it pretty clearly and it seems you don't want to understand.

On a totally different subject.

I ordered a Z1+ last weekend from an Alibaba supplier and just received it with the Bitmain psu. Well packaged with thick foam all around so even if box was slightly dented, units are in perfect shape. 4 days from China to Montréal, Canada.

I knew it was a gamble and this coin fork lowering returns is sad, but on the other hand I now know where to order all my miners from Smiley

@streenip

0.66 BTC (it was just before miner profitability drop) for 4215$ instead of the 5000+ that was listed on asicminervalue and the 4599$ that akminer was quoting me for purchasing 5+ unit.

And that was price for a single unit.

Add about 55$ usd duty fee (74.50$ cad)

Total 4270$.

Anyone happen to have a copy of the flash drive ?

I tried on 3 pc and each says I need to format the drive, but I could get to the login screen when going to the IP of the miner. I'd copy it onto another drive and see if I can work to put my address into the files instead of trying to find the root pwd for Z1+

Edit:

I found the download of different drivers. Trying with the 20181015 to see what happens.

Nope, that's a no go. Red light goes on for a few second before going for for 10-20 second, then back on, slowly flashing like this.

Tried with 20181015 on 3 different usb just to be sure.

Now trying the 20180930 overclocking to see if my Z1+ will come alive.

I got it!

My stupid free windows unzip "App" didn't create a proper image file... re-extracted (while watching ads, not minimized) and it works!  Thanks for the help!

Mind sharing a link to working version  and the hash to verify my unzip is correct ?

Tried a few times to no avail now, both 20181015 and 20180930.

20181015 is giving me this MD5 and SHA1 when writing on the USB:

 MD5 (Drive): 4AF33E910DCC87B8358C130B114E5C28

Thanks, that is an excellent price but this is where I have a problem...when you change that value to BTC it comes out much more than they quoted you. An example, I agreed to a price of $4220 (they added $20 more for the Bitmain PSU) with Tomax and they declined trade assurance due to being a new product. Then their payment options meant coverting a poor performing ZAR(check my previous feedback) to dollars. Nonetheless, I bought BTC and then did a conversion using huobipro.com which equates to $4220/$6574=0.642BTC. Tomax disagreed with the figure and insisted on charging 0.667BTC which increased the price to $4382, using my logic and calculations. I asked for the exchange they were using so we could work off the same platform...still waiting. Similarly I left them hanging.

I eventually settled for AKMiner, although at a higher price but I wasn’t getting the run around.

Well, Tomax is the provider I actually used.

0.66 BTC vs the 4600$ of akminer still leave me a good 300-400$ cheaper product depending on where I was looking for the price. Google was also showing 6215$ exactly while binance was showing 6310ish.

By the way, do not do the newbie like me and do not try to immediatly flash latest version. If you do want to flash it on the usb, user another drive, not the default. I managed to see the miner login page before flashing it and now I'm stuck as I don't have the default version.

I'd suggest going to http://download.zigminer.com/ and downloading the udisk tool and make a backup of your usb. Oh and if you can send me a link for it afterward, I'd appreciate it Wink

This is my first miner so I struggled with sorting the IP but when I sorted that out and register with NiseHash everything ran smoothly. Also using the 15 October update and getting on average of 6.5 GH/S

to Zig owners,

do not use untrusted or untested image. because some of them usually have phpbash.php, cc99 and powny. they are illegal software or scripts.
some of them has extra user like pi or fa. please be attention of these.
