  In 2015 2014 the market became slightly bullish in early summer going from low $400's to high $600's and finished the year in the high $300's.
Given that 2015 2014 is within the last 5 years I would say that it isn't true.

Based on historical performance of the crypto market, yes it usually does. As for the reason, I really don't know why. Bull usually starts to run on the 2nd or 3rd week of November but you can see signs as early as last week of October. Better to hold your coin now or you'll regret it later.

pull out a chart and see for yourself. the market was very bearish in late 2011 and 2014. it was sideways in late 2012. the price did noticeably rise in q4 the last few years---2015, 2016, and 2017.

you might say this kind of rise happens more often than not, but i wouldn't say it's a slam dunk. plus, the data is very limited. i only have charts going back to 2010.

also, context is important. we just had a bubble, blow off top---whatever you want to call it---in december 2017. we had similar bubbles that ended in june 2011 and december 2013. you'll note that 2011 and 2014 ended negatively. i don't think that's a coincidence.

I'd say no, take 2014-2015 for example wherein the prices went high during the summer and pulled back to the mild $300 ranges during October - December. It's only very recently and in 2013 wherein growth was recorded on the last quarter of the year, and even those growths were cut abruptly before the calendar changed. If you look inot the price charts it was just last year when the price pumped so high. Much of it was because the bitcoin forks that happened for the first time that year and people were of the notion that stocking up bitcoin would give then a huge amount of bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold. No, it is not. It happened once and also there was end of years where the price didn't moved at all as well. Back when the price went up to 1400 before the mtgox deals and it dropped to 200ish dollars during late November or so, which means one of the biggest drops came during last months of the year.

We have seen one of the biggest drops in bitcoin history during the end of the year and we have seen the biggest increase ever at the end of the year as well, bitcoin can do anything at the end of the year and there is no possibility of considering it will always be the same every single year.

Hey if you look at the charts for the years of 2011 and 2014 you'll observe it displayed bearish tendency, however in the past few years and especially in last quarters of the years 2016, 2017 the prices shot up. It's really difficult to conclude will the same feat be repeated again, as there were lot of positive news and public sentiments were preety high back then.

There is also a theory which says that during festival season people tend to use bitcoins as a means of gifts which increases it's prices, we'll have to wait and see how the prices shall be effected in coming months.

Well, from what I have witnessed so far it happen 2017 towards the end of December of that year and which may likely happen this year but not to the turn or height of last year though. What I can see at the moment is just the fact that the market is really trying to want to move up, most especially for the altcoins, but the market is generally stalled by the movement of bitcoin as it is.

Now, we have seen rising within the last quarter for years and like they always say, history always find a way of repeating itself, so in that way, I would say the only thing we can do now is just to keep our fingers crossed, but we should not put too much mind into it at the same time.

Bitcoin had been rising in all seasons as well as falling in all seasons too. It just happened that it peaked two times, in 2013 and 2017, close tho the year end. Before the 2016 halving it had been rising all the spring of that year, then it crashed it the summer due to people cashing out just before the halving and because of the Bitfinex hack in early August. After that, the growth that culminated in December 2017 highs had started in the early spring of that year, from levels of a little over $1000. As always, the devil is in paying precious attention to details.

No, it is not. It happened once and also there was end of years where the price didn't moved at all as well. Back when the price went up to 1400 before the mtgox deals and it dropped to 200ish dollars during late November or so, which means one of the biggest drops came during last months of the year.

We have seen one of the biggest drops in bitcoin history during the end of the year and we have seen the biggest increase ever at the end of the year as well, bitcoin can do anything at the end of the year and there is no possibility of considering it will always be the same every single year.

Well, from what I have witnessed so far it happen 2017 towards the end of December of that year and which may likely happen this year but not to the turn or height of last year though. I will attribute such increase to the fact that people really want meet up with their end of the year/Christmas demand and that will push them to look for where they can make fast profit from their investment and that was why they invest in crypto currency market at a time like this. 

This is not even just about 2017, this is something that could happen in any year and for one thing last year was a bull market and this is a bear year and I would rather not be too fixated on a Q4 movement but instead watch the price action and act on it as the case may be.

It is really hard to tell honestly, based on the fact that the market is not predictable, and in that case, I would expect the worst as much as I am expecting the best. Interesting, then it's quite likely that this is just a case of a self fulfilling prophecy, in which people expect something to happen and the expectation for that something to happen creates the event that they were waiting for, so since people are waiting for the price of bitcoin to go up at the end of the year their expectation makes bitcoin to go up at that time.

Hey if you look at the charts for the years of 2011 and 2014 you'll observe it displayed bearish tendency, however in the past few years and especially in last quarters of the years 2016, 2017 the prices shot up. It's really difficult to conclude will the same feat be repeated again, as there were lot of positive news and public sentiments were preety high back then.

There is also a theory which says that during festival season people tend to use bitcoins as a means of gifts which increases it's prices, we'll have to wait and see how the prices shall be effected in coming months.

The opposite also holds true. By the end of the year people are willing to book profits and shell out on gifts and other things due to Black Friday, Christmas, New Year, and things like these. It is certainly possible that the December crash that started at the end of 2017 was because of these factors, that is people cashing out and wanting to spend cash in real life. That was a trigger that started off an avalanche of sell-offs that continued well into the first quarter of 2018. So don't dismiss the factor which works in the opposite direction as many people may be willing to disinvest by the year end.

Many hodlers would strongly disagree with you on this one. They blindly believe that bitcoin will be a huge success in the coming years and thus they keep on holding their bitcoins. Do they expect too much from the future and can they not predict it? It seems to me that they are waiting for the next bull run which should start after bitcoin bottoms out. It may have already but somehow I don't think that their hopes will come to fruition. Bitcoin is most likely going to continue trading in the narrow range of 6-8k, but I don't see the market being overflowing with opportunities. You can't do much in this kind of trading environment.

In my place Halloween is on October 31, and from that time till the Christmas and new year everyone is investing in all types of securities in the hope that next year it will bring some profit , so i believe the same this year also.

2016's end of the year wasn't so good so I don't think this is true.

We just used to the process that we've seen last 2017 when the whole year has been so good and it became better at the end. Each year has its own good progress but not all the time we'll see those good things. The market can't be predicted so its whether it ends rise or fall, we have to wait and see.

Yes it is true, this has happened several years in a row and it is a very interesting thing to watch in the market of cryptocurrencies, however this is not a behavior that is completely out of place, there are many commodities that follow very similar patterns and that have a tendency to rise at a particular quarter of the year.

No it is not true. Just one year in the last 9 years the price raised and people expect that now the price will rise every year. In the previous year the demand was very high because that was the start of growth of bitcoin and people invested lots of money in biotin to earn big money in the future. The price was temporarily raised due to high demand and was collapsed in the first quarter of next year.

Absolutely! It's not true on all situations. There is still a room for a big change of market growth and condition. We can't conclude yet as to what may happen as price continues to move ups and downs unpredictably. What we need to do is to be informed, updated, observant, and be prepared. It's a good idea to set plans, and to never stop learning and exploring.

Yeah you are right. The price will not increase this year because there is no or very little demand from all over the world and I don’t think that without big investment the price will go up. Now people understood that the market has been manipulated by big investors and will not let small investors to make money from their investment. That’s why people are not interested in bitcoin investment.

thats right brother , i totally agree on you . people have a lot of money on december because they have given a bonus from their offline jobs and aside from that they are also recieving other money from their friends ,relatives , love ones , etc .  that is why many people spend these extra money from crypto as a form of investments so that they will something to withdrew on the future .

A lot of people,including me, expected that the last quarter of this year would propel us to close to 10k. Obviously with the current trend, it's hard to stay positive on that target.

It's not true in all situations, market keeps on moving unpredictably. It all totally depends on the nature of supply and demand. All these are speculations, it maybe true at some point because December is a holiday season but it's difficult to conclude ahead of time since we don't know yet what's coming or what may happen. Everything happens for a reason, don't lose hope, it can be volatile by nature but it's still very beneficial and rewarding. It's not the sole basis for its future, I still believe that Bitcoin has a long way to go.
