I've tried my hand at short-term trading in stocks and cryptocurrencies, and I can say it's absolutely one of the most stressful things I've done online.  I don't know how day traders do this for a living and keep their sanity and/or don't resort to mind-altering substances to keep their nerves steady.  And when I traded, it was never with huge sums of money, either.  I know damn well there are people who trade with large bankrolls, and it's got to be so much worse for them--if they're not winning, anyway.  If they're successful, I'm sure it's got to be euphoric for them.

And so the stress is why I stopped trying to beat the markets a few years ago.  Since then I've adopted a buy-and-hold strategy, which is infinitely less stressful, even in bear markets.  The reason for that is because I've gotten in to PoS coins that pay rewards regardless of the price, and in the stock market I only invest in stocks that pay dividends.  It's much easier on my mental status, believe me.

Good luck to all the day traders, and remember there's Rogaine in your local pharmacy when you start losing your hair.

It was indeed very stressful for me when the bear market came in. I was always anxious looking at my blockfolio app and it hurts me that it just never stop falling. And another thing is my bad decision not selling when everything is on all time high and that stupidity added another factor to my stress.
Learning in the hard way will give you much better decision making afterwards, it's stressful as you needed to overcome both the pressures of selling
your tokens while staring with your  assets losing its value, make some room for yourself and stay out around the market, you will lose you money if
you will keep looking panic will push you to make another bad decision.

That's right it actually depends on the trader how he sees it, for me at first its hard and stressful because it seems like all my efforts are useless, I kept on losing, I always misunderstood the market to the point that I really want to quit but instead I still continue to study the market thoroughly and I made sure to as much as possible not do the same mistakes again, and little by little I was able to understand the market well and I can say I got better. If trading is stressful for you take a break and rethink of the things that you might have done wrong and still continue to study the market.

Yes that I myself have experienced this. under any circumstances or usual trading. someone will definitely experience a condition where they will be stressed when indeed a large loss or technical error occurs.
But you don't allow that to happen to you all the time, as you improve, you also need to learn how to control your emotion.
Accepting the fact that you being a trader would also loss, therefore losing is just a normal to you.

With your ability to control your emotion, that would certainly help you to focus on your future and improve yourself in trading.

It's nice to hear about emotional control mate, but if you're on the crucial situations with trading I can't definitely stand against the reality vs. conviction. Trading really a stressful thing when it comes to decision making, specially those times that you're in need of money to spend for and yet you're dedicated to hold those important coins that you had with you. Sometimes you ended up to become weaker handed traded for the sake of financial purposes, which you need in order to be comforted by your spending needs.

I believe it is!

What do you do to relief trading stress? Do you have any alternatives?

As for me I stopped trading for 3 months and play blockchain games. Now I feel myself better!

UPD #1

Some people asked about blockchain games and how to find them. so I've made this list of games https://www.producthunt.com/@house_lama/collections/blockchain-games

UPD #2

There is a good blockchain shooter War Field. it’s 100% not scam so I can send it here. you can read details about this game here (I don’t send direct link to their website not to make them advertisement) https://gameunculus.io/blog/96
Yes, in some what there are times I also stress because of trading so if I am already stress, the best way to ease that stress is to have a massage and relax yourself while listening to a calm music. I also stop trading in some point when I think I am really over stress already.

As soon as you take risks each time when you trade, it is stressful. Certainly, you should not take pills to fight with these stresses: just take it as a usual job, with its ups and downs, and you will calm down.

Yes, it is stressful when the prices will not exceed our target, sometimes we need to wait for a long time in order to execute the order we placed. If it more takes more than a month then we are not comfortable and start selling them at the lower prices. So, not only for me there are many people who are stressful with the trading activity they do.
Indeed, almost everyone is stressed and out of control with trading because each price, every process in trading activity always contains a lot of expectations from us, we put a lot of expectations for our speculation and calculation. And the result will not always appear immediately, it always needs a short or long time to appear, and our psychology will really feel very uncomfortable during this time when things don't go as we want, pressure and stress will increase when time to wait becomes longer, but accepting this feeling is that the traders need to do, no pain will not succeed

The OP is from way back 2018.
As of now many things might have changed.
But as far as the question is concerned, i will say that Yes.
Rather it can also be concluded that it depends upon the user.
If the user himself finds that trading gives him unnecessary stress,  then we can say that it is stressful.
This happenes with me a lot.
So i gonna say, trading is really stressful.

for anyone trading it remains stressful, especially when coin trading is experiencing a dump and it is difficult to increase it will create stress. but that is just how we react and how we relieve stress

About the original question - yes, it's stressful. Value investing is much more productive: use your time to earn money (not sit in front of a computer drawing straight lines on top of charts) and use that money to buy and hodl. You can't lose that trade.

There are many ways to avoid stress, and it is with the Exchange when you make positions with Stop Loss and Take Profit at the same time, and that way you are not stuck all day to the pc. This greatly reduces stress, because when opening positions there is no need to be on the lookout, but to wait, until you have won or assume the loss. I think that way is better.
frankly, trading sometimes makes people who do it stress. well, we need to pay attention to it and hope to rise. for me that is a stressful thing. but, it can disappear if we make a profit, especially if the profit is 100%.

yes because we will feel worried if the target cannot be achieved or reality does not match the expectation and that is what makes the pressure increase when trading. but if we are sure about the path that might happen according to predictions, then the possibility that it will reduce pressure and will make us comfortable in trading so it will not create stress

I believe that in trading activity, it is a stressful work especially when you are not gaining any profit and you are losing your investment. However, I think that losing an investment could somehow part of your learning process in performing the day trading. What is important is that you need do some analysis before making any decisions in connection to your crypto investment and trading. I think experience is more important as you may able to familiarize the crypto market movement and it may no longer stressful next time.
Its true, but it teach you to learn how to be patience. But it makes you better when you experience that. All are experienced to lose their investment so the result they stress, but its not the end perhaps you should be more strategy to use in trading. You dont need to stress but instead you just accept it and think that no one is perfect.

Of course, each of us can receive positive emotions if all of his plans for trade come true.  But due to the current state of the cryptocurrency market, there are much more negative emotions.  Many companies have fallen in price several times and all investments have fallen in price by 300 and 400%.  Of course with the help of daily trading you can correct the situation.

As for me, trading is just a job, and it is in the majority of cases about keeping in control of the emotions. Before I was trading in non-systemathic way, having more losses than profits. Currently I understand the importance of the emotional stability and it enabled me to leave job and earn more with trading

The results you can see in my thread

Good for you if you have ability to control your emotions you will be able to get profit from trading, it is not stressful for me at all because I know with time if price is down it will rise and I will have to keep patience, those who get worry faster with fallen price gets stress but I am also not one of those who take stress at any cost, for me trading is just a way to gain profit.

Day trading is quite stressful.

So I schedule my trading for 1-3 months while following up on the projects

Youre positiveness will motivate people along the field. Perhaps, trading is not stressful for those who are knowledgeable by engaging and contour the possible consequences. And with those people who has wide patience will conquer abundant profits in the mean time.

Trading doesn't work like that, you can increase your time frame of trading but you need to keep analyse the market as well,if you simply buy cryptos and selling after three months might give losses for you as well.
