Not sure if anyone posted the South Africans squad. Here we have it:

Good to see Imran Tahir. He is in his best shape form wise :-)
Tahir mentioned that he would retire from ODIs after the World cup. Good thing that this legend can still play in the IPL though. It will be interesting to see how Du Plessis captains such a diverse mix of incredible talent.

Tahir did the right thing by migrating to South Africa, at a time when South Africa was losing so many of its native-born players to teams such as England and New Zealand. Had he remained in Pakistan, then most probably he would have never got the recognition and fame.

True. A talent like him would have gotten wasted thanks to the current dirty politics problem in the Pakistan team. Always a pleasure to watch this man bowl and the way he celebrates his wickets is magnificent for a guy of his age.

Already there is a lot of criticism about the England team. The critics say that they are stealing talent from all over the world. The best player Ireland has ever produced will be captaining England in this tournament (the best Irish pacer also represented England in tests). Leus du Plooy was the most recent player to defect from South Africa to England, under the Kolpak loophole. Currently 43 Kolpak players are representing various English county sides and this has resulted in the quality of South African domestic cricket getting affected.

True, English county basically sucked out all juice from proteas - Talent drain just like brain drain- but now these days critics only do damage control with mouth piece, they know that damage is already done.

Not sure if anyone posted the South Africans squad. Here we have it:

https://twitter.com/cricketworldcup/status/1118836323203330048

This is okay team if we forget about their bowling unit.

Amla getting old and getting more slow in odi. He is lucky that his competitor Hendricks didn't performed well. If Amla performs in world cup then it can be treat to watch for spectators because he bats like a genuine traditional batsmen and avoids aerial shots.

Duminy is good but doesn't give much confidence as well.

Wish selectors could fit or at least try to select Chris Morris, he's very handy cricketer in down the order. May be his injury and long gap from international cricket hurt his chances.

Proteas bowling unit is very good and can upset any batting line up.

So not my favorite team for this world cup and I would be very very very very surprised if they managed to reach final or win the world cup.

I think Chris Morich is missing from the list. He deserved to be listed in the squad. However, if Dale Steyn can perform well, Africa will have one of the best bowling attacks with Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir. I hope SA will be better than the previous world cup.

You already have mentioned. I also felt the necessity of Morich despite Duminy (no longer fit for ODI and T20.)

Duminy didn't preformed well during the recent series against Sri Lanka. To tell the truth, I can't remember the last time when he performed well with the bat. His spin may prove useful, but then we need to remember that the conditions in England at this part of the year are not exactly suitable for his version of spin bowling.

Dale Steyn will perform well. Did you see his bowling yesterday in IPL? He was fully fit.

Dale Steyn
Kagiso Rabada
Imran Tahir

Undoubtedly one of the best bowling unit.

Someone was finding Jawaharlal Nehru yesterday. Here we have Sachin Tendulkar

May be if you try then you will find Royse777 too :-P

Damn! That is badass. I didn't understand what you meant by Nehru initially, but it all makes sense now. I think you could find Royse or Haunebu in there, but 777 will be missing.

Also, I agree that this could be the best bowling attack assembled by the SA team in years.

Thanks for the link. Why is the West Indian management taking so long to assemble their squad? Also, the Afghanistan squad is missing too. It is possible that both teams have been given more time since they qualified through the qualification stages in Zimbabwe.

Afghanistan has announced their preliminary 23 member squad. The final squad of 15 members will be announced this week. There are a few very good players announced for the preliminary squad and one of them is Hazratullah Zazai. One negative for Afghanistan is that their pacers are not as good as their spinners. And normally in England the playing XI will be having just one spin bowler.

Tahir did the right thing by migrating to South Africa, at a time when South Africa was losing so many of its native-born players to teams such as England and New Zealand. Had he remained in Pakistan, then most probably he would have never got the recognition and fame.
That can be said about Usman Khawaja too, if they were in Pakistan i really do not think so they would have got to the national team let alone fame and recognition, they made the right choice at the right time and so is the reason they are performing for the team they represent and they are doing that really well. I am not happy with the Indian selection omitting players like Pant who will strike the ball really well and Ambati Rayudu who averages 47.

Thanks for the link. Why is the West Indian management taking so long to assemble their squad? Also, the Afghanistan squad is missing too. It is possible that both teams have been given more time since they qualified through the qualification stages in Zimbabwe.
I think officially they are asked to provide the squad within 30th of this month. Considering today 21st just started so they still have time.

I totally forgot about Afghanistan. I am sure they are working in it.

Interesting fact. It's like CSK team LOL
Anyway, this means that Indian team has more chance to win the cup. Experience is always an advantage.

Usman Khawaja's case is different from that of Imran Tahir.

Imran Tahir immigrated to South Africa, in order to represent the South African side. He became a resident of South Africa at the age of 26, after a failed experiment with the English county cricket. He married a South African national later and obtained the South African citizenship.

Usman Khawaja, on the other hand immigrated to Australia with his family when he was 5 years old. And that was much before he dreamed of playing cricket. He is an Australian in every sense.

Honestly, age is just a number. I don't really care about age since fitness is what matters at the end of the day. I have seen young players like Pant who fail consistently while senior players like MSD perform consistently primarily due to the fitness factor.

Yeah, true but experience is needed in a big tournament of course. World cup is the big tournament and of course everyone comes here first time once. Every players feel nervous when they first participate. Here experienced players play a good rule to make them prepared. On the other hand, experience can tell where to put the effort to win a match.

Fitness is even more important when compared to experience in my opinion. Experience does matter, but other factors matter too. This is why I like the current Indian lineup since it is a good mix of young and experienced players overall.

I think I was responding to a post where it was saying the average age is 29.5 years or so.
Here are the things I consider matters in cricket:

Experience,
Fitness,
Captaincy,
Management,
Crowed,
Recent form
Fielding unit
Batting unit
Bowling unit
Ground
Pitch
Weather
Umpire
Wind
Light

and many more things matters :-P

Feel free to continue :-D
