DC, MI and UPW have qualified for the playoffs stage while RCB and GG got knocked out. MI and DC have pretty much dominated the first season of the WPL which is why I am expecting a tense final between them.
Am not expecting any surprises from UPW and I still think that DC will win the first season primarily thanks to Lanning.

Gujarat Giants are knocked out of the tournament, and because of the tournament format this time Royal Challengers Bangalore women are also not in the contention anymore. The match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will decide who will play in the eliminator and who will directly qualify for the final. I would prefer Delhi Capitals winning the trophy this time, because they did their homework without much showoff. They have the momentum with them, and Mumbai has lost two of their last three matches.

I have seen several matches of Delhi Capitals. This team is very good. I did not find any weakness in the batting and bowling line-up. Delhi Capitals Women's Team is now playing against the UP Warriors Women's Team. And it looks like Delhi is going for a very easy win. UP Warriors' players' collection was only 138 runs. It is not enough collection if they want to win against a strong team like Delhi. At least more than 160 were required to be collected. At the end of 14 overs, Delhi Capital's women's team collected 114 runs. Delhi needs only 25 runs from 36 balls to win. Delhi is going to get an easy win in this match. One weird thing that I noticed today is that MI and DC fumbled at the end thanks to pointless mistakes, but they still made it across the finish line. DC moves to the final while MI will face UPW in the eliminator.

I will be stunned if UPW somehow screw MI and proceed to the final against DC.

Delhi Capitals Women's Team is now playing against the UP Warriors Women's Team. And it looks like Delhi is going for a very easy win. UP Warriors' players' collection was only 138 runs. To compete with a top team one must perform well and have to set a big target to the opponent. UP Warriorz failed to throw big targets. They set a target of just 138 runs where Delhi Capitals Women won the match losing 5 wickets with in 17.5 overs. If more than 170 runs had been scored there would have been some optimism about winning the match. Because Delhi Capitals Women are capable of scoring 200 runs. Chasing 138 definitely a low score for them.

Prediction in T20 cricket is a very difficult task. Because the team cannot perform according to that prediction. And the number of such matches are not less. The team who is the most expected to win but finally they loss. This is very common in t20 cricket. When I first saw Mumbai Indians Women's performance in the match, I thought there is no other team in this tournament above it. It is true that overseas players (especially those from Australia, England and South Africa) are dominating first season of the WPL. And it is not surprising. The BCCI ignored women's cricket for so long. They should have started the league at least a decade back, but then the Sharad Pawar-N Srinivasan mafia was in power and they refused to invest in women's cricket. But ECB and CA launched franchise T20 leagues for women without any delay, and as a result they are in such a good position now in terms of women's game.

Are you talking about the restriction on the number of players on the team? I think this restriction is good to have. Because otherwise, the Indian women players are not going to come forward with their contribution and the overseas players are going to dominate. So this restriction is important and will be good in the long term. Of course, some changes will be made along the way in the journey of women's IPL. It is also going to take a little more patience from the BCCI to actually get a good amount of profit from the women's IPL.

There is no surprise in the overdependence on foreign players. It was also inflated by the fact that some capped Indian players were out of form.

But at the same time, we can confidently say that this inaugural season will only help Indian women's cricket as far as the talent pool is concerned. Yes, it'll take some time to mature but things are going in the right direction.

The tournament is a success as more people are watching the Women's Cricket and more opportunities for the players to earn a good purse which is much bigger than their International remunerations and the young generations will be taking note of that on a global scale and will be focusing on earning these WIPL contacts and in the future we will see more talents.
