I do not understand Google's probability/prediction. Just checked the schedule for tomorrow's match against GT and CSK and found GT has 54% chance of winning the match against CSK. I know the win probability changes as the match progresses but why update it in a day advance. BTW who do you think will win the opening match of IPL?

Did anyone checked the number 7 ideology advertisement on Star sports. It seem Star sports copied the whole concept from another forum board and never gave any credit to them.

I did see that advertisement not on Start sports but on social media. CSK has aggressively marketed their player, who is none but Dhoni. I also found out that he is now being called Thalanos as in Thanos from Marvel movies on social media as he has the power to conquer the IPL  . This is too much coming out from CSK but in reality, they would lose against GT tomorrow.

Substitute in cricket!

This is a very familiar image with football. In football parlance this is called a substitute. In other words, if a player on the field performs poorly, if the coach thinks that a player is sitting on the bench instead of that player, then the player is substituted through the third referee.

Until now, this rule was only in football. But for the sake of IPL, such substitutes will be seen in cricket from now on.  The IPL authorities have set some rules for such substitutes in cricket. After the toss, the captain may name four additional players, any one of those four may come in as a substitute to bat or bowl. But player must be Indian and substitute must be done before 15 overs. If a player from another country is substituted instead of an Indian player, then instead of the four players decided before entering the field, three players from other countries can enter the field only if a foreign player can play in the field as a substitute during the middle of the match.

But it seems to me that it is to be seen how much the beautiful IPL authorities will be able to develop such rules in cricket.

This can be said because the players of almost all countries of the cricket world can be seen in IPL. When those players play with the Indians they get a better idea of each player and also get enough experience playing at Asian venues. If the Indian top order perform well at the beginning then have the possibility to get win in most of the matches.

IMO, advantage is with Gujarat Titans. They will have the home advantage as well, as the match is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Chennai Super Kings is one of the legacy teams.. and they have tons of experience with them, as they have players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu. On the other hand, GT is a very young team, led by a very young captain. I checked the odds as well, and in all of the sportsbooks GT are given better odds when compared to CSK.

So I don't think we should judge India by the performance that they are doing right now and just remember they will be doing well in the world cup. LOL... India performs well in the world cup? When did that happened? Do you know when was the last time when they won a trophy in one of the ICC tournaments? That was long back, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain. India under Kohli and Rohit has performed extremely poorly in all the ICC tournaments, including the T20 and ODI world cups. Anyway, this year the ODI world cup is being hosted by India and they should be the favorites to win the tournament. But a few days back, they lost the ODI series to Australia by a margin of 2-1.

GT has inform Indian batters like Pandaya and Gill. Kane Williamson and Matthew Wade are in form as well (the former did well in tests). Although they will miss David Millar as he's not available due to national duties but they also have clutch player Rahul Tewatia. Their bowling looks a bit weak to me despite having a Shami-Rashid duo.

CSK is too strong on paper, they bat deep (Deepak Chahar bats at number 9 and he's no mug with the bat). They also have 2 ATG all-rounders Ben Stokes and Jadeja + 2 batting all-rounders Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube. The top order looks set as well and then there is Thala's effect.

Both teams are packed with quality players but GT looks weak in the bowling department and I don't know who is going to replace Miller in the middle order so my money is on CSK.

It is also essential to note that the Indian team was trying some new things ahead of the World Cup. They were experimenting with different combinations and giving opportunities to new players. This approach may cost them some matches but it will definitely help them in the long run.

India has a strong team and they have a history of doing well in major tournaments like the World Cup. They have a talented pool of players who can step up and deliver when needed. India is a big market. The progress of Indian cricket team at times experience downturn which used to change in short time period. India having big number of players is another reason for the lack of performance, because selectors itself gets confused on putting right player on the order. Players lacking consistency and not performing at the right time happens most of the time. This used to be the reason for most of India's losing matches.

When it comes to major tournament, the team used to get knocked out at the earlier stage or it reaches atleast the semifinals. India maintain its position, however the fine tuning and the different combinations were a trial as more experienced hands are with injury.

None of the younger players are performing well at this point. If you take out the senior players such as Balbirnie and Stirling, then nothing is left in their bating lineup. The two youngsters - Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector, showed a lot of promise last year, but during this tour their performance has remained below par. The most promising young player has been Curtis Campher. But he has also failed to realize his potential in full. At times, he contributed either with the bat or with the ball, but consistency was sorely lacking in his game.

LOL.. is this much of a surprise? England had some very good bowlers like Mark Wood and Jofra Archer, and that is the reason why Bangladeshi batsmen scored at a strike rate of 80-120. Irish bowlers are no match for Wood and Archer (or for that matter Ali or Adil). On top of that, Ireland was missing two of their most important bowlers and was heavily relying on the younger players to take up the responsibility in bowling. But that didn't worked that well, as Litton and Rony just smashed these rookie bowlers all around the park.

I agree with your point of view. We have seen Bangladesh's slow batting in the last T20 World Cup as well. But now the batsmen of Bangladesh are not batting slowly. The strike rate of Liton Das was 202 in the last match. He scored 83 runs off just 41 balls. Rony Talukder's strike rate was 191. Also, Shakib 158 and Towhid Hridoy batted at 184 strike rate. Every batsman in the team is now batting brilliantly. And if this continues, the Bangladesh team will be able to challenge any big team in the future. If the top-order players are able to continue this good performance then the Bangladesh team will be able to perform well in the upcoming ODI World Cup as well.
