Ive never bought any coins before and am considering opening an account while the coins are low

How would you invest $1000 - 2000

Thanks

If you could wait further, try to invest on coins such as IRX, which is surely profitable since their project was good, just a reminder, IRX's ICO just finished, and will going to dominate the market soon.

I probably would have invested the entire amount in Ethereum, especially when launching the hard forks of this coin is on the way!

I personally think that as a newbie, the best thing you can do for now is to first learn about the crypto market because investing in a market which you have lot knowledge of is destined to bring you lose and regret. You have to first learn about the knowledge before you invest in it. Knowledge will surely bring you profit sooner or later.
But if you are bent on investing then it's better to play it safe by investing in the top 5 coins.

a coin for a newbie might be ethereum. you can buy and hold. My advice for newbies is to buy coins that are quite stable and have a large trading volume. this makes it easy for you to make analysis. do not try to buy new coins or coins that are warm because it is good, if you make a wrong choice you can lose a lot.

At the beginning the best choise is Bitcoin. It's very easy to buy Bitcoin. You even don't need to register at crypto-exchange. Also there is a lot of Bitcoin ATMs. So you can buy BTC for fiat cash

if you don't have any experience in investing in my opinion the safest investment to avoid losing a lot of money is ethereum and if you succeed in investing ethereum in the long run you will get a lot of benefits

As a beginner it can be confusing taking into account the thousands of coins/tokens out there but it's best to invest in future proof coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP among others.

Spread your assets on few sides. Give chance to some coin that you believe in, that has small value in price and has a potential to grow in the future. Participate with smaller amount of cash on that.
Rest of the money put in bitcoin and ethereum investment, also spread the investment on 40/60, 70/30 or something like that. Personally I would invest more in btc than on eth but both are good choices, final decisions would be up to you.

For beginners choose altcoin in top 10 coinmarketcap is the best and has little risk.A lot of people sometimes invest in altcoin that they themselves do not know the function and purpose of the developer makes it. So make sure you know that altcoin with the function of what you choose and once again do not be influenced by the encouragement of others. Doing research and analysis yourself. Make suggestions for people just as an extra.

if you ask about invest then i suggest btc because it's the most stable coin.
dont need to look the price everyday, just buy and keep it for 1 or 2 year.
its different if you want to trade, you must choose the great coin at that time, because trading can give you fast profit and also with risk.

Bitcoin first and if you started to become knowledgeable about the market, you can do deeper with these altcoins. Likewise, go for bitcoin for the first time and beginner investors would feel excited on how much you'll make with it. Don't fall for those altcoins that has nothing to do with you and can even make your standing worst of having an exit scam.

In the end you also need a good chunk of luck to hit an alt coin that goes up several times. Many people will tell you it's only about analysis, but believe luck is a good part of the success in crypto.

Using common sense and not getting blinded by greed is important, too.

If you are a beginner, it is obvious that you need to buy only time-tested coins, Ethereum, bitcoin, ripple and the like, when there is experience, then look at the other coins

I think a beginner should start with airdrops and faucets before they invest really money, that way they gets basic understanding of how cryptocurrencies work and function.

They can but it would take some time before they will learn to risk.
Airdrop and faucets though you can get free money but you don't make much, for some it could be a waste of time.

If you want to be serious, you need to risk your own money, beginners can start investing their own but should start with a small amount.

Airdrop can not give a basic understanding of the cryptocurrency, and in most cases it is a Scam, I think it's worth investing and understand the projects to be successful in trading!

Coins that are very suitable for beginner investment are Bitcoin, because Bitcoin will never disappear from the market and allow it to have the highest price. But if your funds are limited, you can try investing Ethereum, because I see the price of Ethereum often drops and rises. Maybe through Ethereum you can trade every day by buying when prices go down a little, and selling when prices go up a little, as a beginner you have to learn gradually starting from a little, and in the end it will also be a big advantage.

I suggest bitcoin as a investment fot beginners to avoid those other altcoins much more than risky than bitcoin because i can't predict other coins rather than bitcoin only.
