It all depends on Bitcoin. Its capitalization rules the market, and as we see its fall, although critical for other coins, it did not kill the market.

I think Bitcoin will be the major driver of any recovery. We need to watch BTC price movements closely, particularly historic support levels and any psychologically important thresholds. $5k is the next big one going up.

This stands true for most altcoins, but not for all. Some have their own micro-economy and seem to stay somewhat detached of Bitcoin.

true that every altcoin is affected in bitcoin performance .especially if bitcoin value gradually decreasing and experience massive declined which surely all alts will turn to red suddenly like what happened nowadays. And for sure it will be fine again unless if bitcoin getting value and become green again.

It does not have to be that when the Bitcoin value increases, the altcoins value will decrease. If you look at it, over the last weeks the value of altcoins increases at the same moment in which the Bitcoin value increases. I think that the details of each project will be more important during valuation than position relative to the price of Bitcoin.

This can be considered as the bottom of bitcoin but there was a chance for the price to go even lower but remember i never think if the price of bitcoin will go even lower than this rate. Altcoin which offers product can survive.

No need to worry that all altcoins will die. Altcoins tend to increase the cost much more than BTC. But some altcoins  probably won't be able to rise. This is a natural selection and fraudulent projects.

Not all altcoins have decreased, there are several coins that have increased. but this is not a problem because when the price of bitcoin increases, the satoshi value will increase and that will make the exchange rate against bitcoin change. I don't mind the price of the altcoin Rates decreasing because I focus on the development of bitcoin. for me that when bitcoin experiences positive rates, it will slowly open up the market. it takes time to reach that phase and we have to be patient.

Seeing altcoins gaining while Bitcoin's price is down is a good sign of growth and its an advantage because once the price of Bitcoin will go up again potential profits in return.

the market itself is never going to die. there will always be a lot of altcoins in it to be traded because people will always want to make profit. and also there will eventually be better altcoins too.

as for depending on bitcoin i have to say it is a false assumption. we have seen before the bitcoin recoveries creates some upward movement in altcoins but it won't lead to much else. they still need to be individually pumped to go back up again. and they can do that without bitcoin while bitcoin rise doesn't guarantee their pumps.

Although altcoin has its own space, their prices have a standard size with bitcoin, like the dollar as standardization of world money. At the moment bitcoin will move at $ 3700 but if it fails it will drop at $ 2800, so how bad for the altcoin price depends on how bad the price of bitcoin is. the value of alts in this today market is very bad, most of the time the value of alts depends on the price of bitcoin. Very few alts in the market has their own track of price like CHT. That is also the reason why many alts to be release got postponed because of the price issue in todays market.

Can you point out which altcoin is going to increase its price more than BTC? Currently bitcoin is dominant in this market and the prices is untouchable for any others even if the price of bitcoin is bottomed out now.All altcoins is not going to die but most of them will eventually by days passes.
