For me, 1 year of investment is good if you buy Bitcoin or ethereum. Both have proven it's ATH and now that it's price is cheaper, then buying either of the two is a good option.

Top 100 coins is still risky, it's just based on the marketcap but only few of them have a real working team.
Sure they can show up in media, have a picture and share it to their supporters, but honestly, I only see few projects that are strong enough to stay at a good price despite of the bear market.

Unrealistic profit will always get us in danger even though it is just a normal thing to make 500% profits in one year when in bull run,we have to pick the right coin not some coin from top 100 which is very important than the current price of that coin.

There is no security that your money in 1 year will grow or with the possibility of earning by investing in cryptocurrency. With the current market condition, we are not one hundred percent sure it will double unless we see a reversal from bear to bull which is highly unlikely this year as many experts predicted only movements but not sharp. But if we get lucky to have an early bull return, then you will get your $1000 double or even more than it in one year. If you are still eager you can risk it, I recommend get Cardano.

The fact is you have some extra money and want to invest it. and after 1 year you wanna see some profit on it. it's possible but you have to understand crypto market change anytime. so no one can say what happen after 1 year. but if you interested then my opinion is buy some BNB if you want. That's a huge numbers mate, even though you have a lot money but investing for 50 different coins might be a big risk for anyone. I suggest to have at least 10 coins or below depending of the our capabilities and funds. This good enough and seems to manageable for us. And of course, it must be on the top altcoins including Btc.

well, maybe to zoom out, choose 5 or 10 coins above.
