I think the question should be,  is this research done by many investors enough to prevent people from investing into bad or scam ico project? Because i have seen some of the project people place in high esteem later ended up misleading and turning into a cheap scam, so in the scale of 1-10, how often has this research help in making right decision and prevent people from investing in bad project? Is research really enough to give guarantee on investing on ico's?

I prefer to buy through the IEO, because it is really real, after the IEO finished the token can be traded immediately, some time ago I bought OATH on lbank and only took 5 seconds to run out

I agree, the first thing that any investor should do is to study in detail the object of investing! Big money attracts many crooks. And in the field of ICO there are a lot of them because the market is not regulated and it is almost impossible to bring accountability to liability! Therefore, we must be vigilant and very careful.IEO is the next stage of development of ICO. There, investments are safer as the exchange assesses the project, risks and puts its reputation on the line

Yes of course, it is a very basic tool to become a successful investor. Do not do anything without any knowledge for you to never failed. Because little knowledge and of course no knowledge at all is very dangerous especially here in crypto world. Knowledge is power.

In fact, most ICO scams are blunt, obvious scams... people only feed these scammers if they are really blind... and they often are...
On the other hand there is no assurance that, even doing your research, and even having done it several times with success, you still won't be scammed...
It is just a wrong principle if someone you don't know is asking you money for something that most times is still only a sketch... no warranties, no attachments... most people probably hear: "just give me the cash and I'll make you rich"
Search for POW with no ICO and no premine... If the project has real value, there will be no need of an ICO

Yes obviously, i always do some research before investing my money in ICOs. You know right ICOs nowdays are not good anymore, mostly are scam too. So you need to becareful and don't blindly invest your money to random ICOs. Check it first before join, join their telegram, ask anything to the team.

ICOs, or Initial Coin Offerings, have become a popular way for cryptocurrencies to raise funds from the public. However, they have also become an easy way to prey on the vulnerable, and the financial regulator recently warned customers about what it calls “these very high risk, speculative investments”. It warns that there’s little consumer protection and high potential for fraud, as well as high volatility. Some ICOs are regulated by the FCA, but this is on a case-by-case basis, depending on how they are structured.

As the FCA says, you should fully research any ICO before handing over your money. “You should only invest in an ICO project if you are an experienced investor, confident in the quality of the ICO project itself,” a spokesman says. Alternatively, consider investing or trading with a regulated provider.

All right they say. Do not trust anyone in this market. I was convinced once again yesterday. That not all people and experts value their reputation. ICO is business today. sales ratings, fraudulent projects. Are you investing to make a profit? Well, this is a casino. So, put your money on zero with success. I think about as many projects for one good.

I think it's better to invest on established coins instead investing on icos, you can always check the progress of the project later, and most of the icos now are lazy about developing their coin, they could do so much things in a single quarter instead they just put a single update in the roadmap where as the established coins already done most of the things in their roadmap.

im not an investor of an ico but i like to particpate on ico bounties and airdrops on the past  . to be honest im not a fan of doing a research before i join . i only join them instantly . i would be happy if i recieve some coins but if not , i still accept it  . theres nothing to blame because joining them are free but lets say if im going to invest on ico or on other investment out there that involves real cash/cryptos  , i guess ill have to take the time to do a deep research before deciding if i continue or not  because i dont want to donate my money from a scammer  .

Of course, I make research before investing in ICO because if I don't do that, how I can find the good ICO in out there and I can prevent from the scam projects. That is what we need to do if we want to invest in any programs on the internet and real life so we can get more information related to the programs. We can know the details of the project, and it will help us to decide if the project is good or not so we can join it later. But of course, that is not easy to get almost all of the information for the project because the new project doesn't have a history and we need to search it by ourselves.

Researching before investing is what differentiate a professional from a newbie, buying ICO without knowing the usefulness of the project, without know what the project stands to offer if is realistic or not, without knowing much about the project team, if solid or just anyhow group of people, I guess is a wasted investment.

It is certain that before investing in ICO or conducting a trade we need to first examine how their work maps and the contents of their entire project, because this is concerned with personal funds and we must always be prepared to accept the risks as well.

I am wondering why the majority of people still do not research the project before investing money into it. The most blind investors are feeding fraud and scam projects and after they realise that the project was a scam, they are crying about their funds. Always do a good research.

You shouldn't be making any investments without doing deep research beforehand and that is universally true.  It does appear that ICOs have more than their fair share of risk associated with them though and they are an easy method for scammers to take people's money.

The ICO market is nowhere near as lucrative in recent years and I would look at any investment in them as a speculative long term investment.  Short term success from ICOs just doesn't exist in the current market and it is usually more cost effective to buy on an exchange after they are officially listed.

You have said it all with good points. Nowadays anyone investing in any ICO because of hype is not doing himself good. There is need to reduce scam rate which can only be done when an investor makes good research before investing in any project

I wonder reading so many users agreeing that they research before investing in ICO but I have also read in the scam accusation section on numerous scamming thread too.  Grin

Is it that the researches are not properly done or that the team his certain red alert information from researchers...

I use to research ICO's in 2017 , 2018 . Not Now , i don't see future in ICO's anymore . Ofcourse they are quite alive yet , but mostly IEO's is the ones i research . As i know , really good projects that collect 100+M USD - 1 Billion USD are behind closed doors with private investors . Ofcourse project IEO's on Binance launchpad is good ones aswell , but not as good as the ones behind the closed doors =] Sometimes you can see new token listed on coinmarketcap with like 100+M usd marketcap and if you check funding then you will see that most of them got private funders .

ICOs are a big risk. Do people still invest in ICOs despite how many of them failed in 2018? I think the IEO model is still a bit better than the old ICO ones which lack regulations
