Contrary to what the bitcoin maximalists claim, Ethereum is going to stick around in the long run with its massive ecosystem of developers and major corporations partnering and building with it. As the market matures, investors and especially institutions will be sticking with only a few altcoins - it won't be like 2017 when almost every alt skyrocketed in value. The winners will be bitcoin, Ethereum, and a few others.

There are some rumours about eth future: there are some people pessimistic about it and that its 2nd position is threaten by other altcoins.
I think ethereum is strong and has a solid base of supporters, so it will hardly happen, on the other hand it's still an altcoin and even being superior to bitcoin in some aspects it's still a copy of btc. Anyway, a strong altcoin like this worths the investment.

I am sure that investing in altcoin still worth it in 2019, and we have so many potential coins at the market so we can choose more than 10 coins list. But the problem is we cannot always manage and watch the coin movement so we might get too late to see that coin increase later if we are not ready for the increasing of the price.

If that person will invest in only those coins which have a better future and the developers are very active for the project then buying them and holding for a long time will be a safe way to invest in these altcoins in this year as now the crypto market is on its best timing.

Of course it does. The only issue or what I think is the motive for asking is owing to the scam issues present in the crypto space. But of a truth, it is worthy to keep investing in altcoins,but in this case only those that have shown serious development within the platform not hype or pump and dump.

Ethereum team made many things right but it still doesn't guarantee them a share of market in the future, in 2017 there were no other trustful platforms to make shitcoins fast so everybody started creating erc-20. Fees in ethereum, lack of scalability and number of huge project made IPOs in form erc-20 coin (plus kitties) displayed the lack of scalability and at the same time created huge natural demand for ethereum coins to pay for coins transactions, and brought money not only to coins creators but also to eth creators and holders.
Now there is a number of competitors trustful enough (many have zero or close to zero fees, some allow to create own blockchains), even at current price and current demand (after trx, icx, and many others swap) eth transaction fees are significantly higher than most of the other coins, and tps is low, that makes probability of new really big ico's on top of eth quite low. They can improve the scalability - that should decrease the fees at the same time, but it will also decrease organic demand. Sure there is also a chance of growth because of manipulations, but eth is so big already that makes it not as simple to manipulate, and it still doesn't have a reputation of bitcoin.
Sure it doesn't mean there will be no new bright days in eth future, I'm just saying probability of returning its maximum market share is not high. Maybe they'll even introduce something as huge as erc-20, but at the moment on this scammy market developers prefer to create a new coin they can fully control and get all money from for any more or less good idea
