many do not have enough power of their computers, they can take external game servers to play on their “weak” machines

this is called distributed computing, a huge supercomputer to which we give tasks.

there must be a lot of technological challenges with this project...
they do not invent anything new. they take solutions that are already on the market, that have proven themselves and have already been tested.

but Not everyone understands why these VR games are needed? what we will do with those VR worlds?

but why should economically decentralized approach will be more advantageous than centralized? Why don't companies that own data centers get into this business and earn money?

companies that own data centers are already actively playing in this market. For example, IBM. But every day the volume of work increases significantly. If we are talking about the same video, today the standard is already 4K, tomorrow it will be 8K, and this is dozens of days of rendering.
Minecraft already connected to the blockchain in-game items
so it also develops its own currency?

We are not talking about the game currency, but about a kind of storage of unique game items.
after publishing Java API for game developers, the company itself will release a plugin for Minecraft Java Edition servers. In addition, the company plans to launch its Minecraft server on which this technology will be used.

Blockchain technology is used to ensure the uniqueness of items found, obtained from other players or purchased items.
I want to note that the possibility of selling items that give any advantage to players is clearly prohibited by the Minecraft user agreement...

I do not think it will fit into the game
By the way, did I alone remember the locked chest?

I got from wp that NETVRK is a huge virtual constructor with a non-linear plot, in which there are no boundaries of the flight of fancy. But do they need blockchain anyway???

Why blockchain, you ask? This will further stimulate people to create Sandbox worlds and fill them with creative objects. Players will create amazing things, such as landscapes with natural disasters; autonomous characters and interactive elements - water, metals, electricity; or even full arcade game levels with guided characters and multiple game styles.
Every world and game created on this platform will belong to the creator. This will be possible through the introduction of tokens into the ecosystem.

The NETVRK  development team believes that a properly integrated blockchain system can significantly improve both creative user experience and the economic dynamics of games with user generated content. The blockchain itself does not make the game better, it does not load faster and does not become more exciting.

also, today there are plenty of traditional games where you can create any kind of content as much as you wish. In consequence of this, these same games cannot thank the creators with tangible rewards. So the initiative to create disappears.

in any case blockchain is better than centralized platforms. Some centralized games allow users to sell things within the system, but not directly among themselves, but through the platform as an intermediary. With such a scheme of work fees are usually charged.

yes. These can be simple rules, written as texts, or more complex algorithms, including in-game currency, missions, etc.

Will users be able to make changes to the game world?
it would be great if  users would be able to dig caves and build mountains, flood the oceans, etc. Also if the owner and creator of the land could  determine permissions for guests on the subject of change opportunities on this land.

they need to move gradually and make sure that the first experience for solo authors will be pleasant and trouble-free.
