Sai Sudarshan looks very good and aggressive. He has already got his half-century, and it seems like he will get his test century. The ball is coming to the bat easily now, and the pitch does not seem to offer anything to the bowlers. Rahul, as usual, looks consistent with his approach on the other end. He has also got his half century and is still batting after lunch.

Sudarshan rode his luck and gave 2 chances to afghans but slip and keeper kept napping every time. He's lucky that he reached his fifty and end up scoring 80 odd runs. If afghan held these catches then sai should have been in hut at just 18 runs.

Afghans were pretty good in outfield but lazy af in 30 yards circle and missed fair amount of half chances, they had opportunity to transform these half chances into wickets but they failed and every batter cashed in.

Maybe except Jaiswal, he also gave some half chances but got out for a boundary ball, other than that everyone made good opportunity to increase their stat, KL could played for a big daddy hundred but he also gave his wicket cheaply.

It's obvious that India is going to win the game but it is going to decide the opportunity for the batters to decide their future, and we don't have much left in this WTC cycle if I am not wrong so the upcoming NZ series will be a key one.

Good fielding is very important if you want to do well in the Test format against teams like India, Australia or England. If you miss an opportunity, you will lose the match. India have scored a huge 368 runs. India will probably declare their innings after scoring 550+. Although the pitch is batting friendly, I don't think Afghanistan's players will be able to do well against experienced Indian bowlers. I am sure India will win this match.

The Kiwis are getting clobbered in the first test thanks to some epic bowling by the English(Especially Robinson). Never knew about this Nathan Smith dude from the Kiwis side, but he impressed me quite a bit. Jamieson was epic with both bat and ball.

Root and Willy are not at their best here. Hope Kiwis take the 2nd test for an intense finale between both sides.

It is a really difficult wicket to bat on. Today, England only bowled 9.4 overs but they were able to pick 2 wickets and if they get a session's play tomorrow, they could win the match. As per the weather report there is no rain tomorrow and if that is the situation, England could wipe out the rest of the batsmen and close the day early.

Rain plays spoilsport in such an interesting test yet again. The T20 format used to be my favorite one before, but not anymore. The test format is my new favorite these days and it sucks to see such interesting matches getting screwed by rain as usual.

NZ is done for in the 1st test and rain is simply delaying the inevitable here.

Tom Latham is already back in the pavilion, the match depends upon how long New Zealand can bat and whether the remaining batsman can rescue the team from this situation.

Everyone knows what is the result of the match will be even before the start so there is no doubt in that, but how long AFG can fight this match and I would say if they stretch this game to 5th day then it is an achievement for them. And about India, I don't think they would want to declare at all, they will go on to bat all out or atleast close to 700 before the declaration.

It looks like a flat batting wicket and it will be difficult for a team like Afghanistan to trouble the famed batting line up like India and too without the presence of Rashid Khan.

This is good opportunity for Afghanistan batters to improve there batting in test format as they will bat against top bowling side. This is only thing Afghanistan can take from this test because India won't let them win this test.

This series can be considered as an experience and in the meantime India is using this match as a batting practice to improve the average of players. 
I was expecting the England and New Zealand match to end tonight, but unfortunately rain has disrupted the match. Hopefully we will see a full day match tomorrow, without any rain interruption.

The first test match between India and Afghanistan is underway, and India has already lost Yashasvi Jaiswal. At the moment they are 41/1. The match is taking place at New Chandigarh, and therefore we can expect some assistance from the pitch for the pace bowlers. BTW, it was the right-arm pacer Mohammad Saleem who picked the wicket of Jaiswal. India is going to this test with a relatively young squad, captained by Shubman Gill. Manav Suthar of Rajasthan is making his debut, after a highly successful Ranji Trophy season. Also Prasidh Krishna is back to the squad after a brief interval.

His bad form continues from the IPL, and it will not do well for him in a very competitive environment within the team for the opening slot. I want to see how good Sai Sudarshan does in this match. The guy was in incredible touch in the IPL although he is playing a different format this time but he has the skills required to excel in this format.

India needs to focus on Yashasvi Jaiswal because his game has changed now, whereas previously he was playing easily, calmly and smoothly.  In the current days, he is struggling a lot, and the main thing behind this is the fear of scoring many runs. Need more matches so they can build up confidence in real match scenario. Fixtures will be loopsided but that's a only way they'll learn.

Well, if we look at the overall game, KL Rahul scored a century while batting at number two. The management of the Indian team also needs to understand from this that he might be more comfortable batting at this position than lower down the order.

With so many good batsmen waiting in the queue, pressure is always there on batsmen in India playing XI. If you don't score runs you will be replaced with another one. Jaiswal stats in test are good but he need to maintain consistency. He plays one big innings and next few innings are  dry. It looks like he won't get second chance in this test because Indian team has scored 475 runs in first innings and they are heading towards 600 runs. Mohammad Saleem got 4 wickets for his side and he is just playing his second test.

England has opportunity to make come back from this stage, they are already dominating at Lord's, got three wickets of New Zealand where as New Zealand are standing on just 55 runs and they still needs to score 199 runs more which is impossible for them if they play with this style, needs to come back or accept the loss because there is no option to play defensive cricket because the pitch is different. And at the same time, today rain interrupted the game, that's why the pitch became even better for the bowlers, which provides extra bounce.

India is playing really well first innings and for now they made 540 runs in 120 overs and lost 8 wickets. Afghanistan unable to collect the stars wickets. Almost every player contributed well from India especially Gill played really well with 126 runs. KL Rahul completed his century. Sai made 81 runs and Rishabh also made 81 runs. They all made a good total and still playing. I think India can made 580 runs. So let's wait for the Afghanistan and see what they do?

India's batsmen have batted brilliantly in India's Test match against Afghanistan today. They have already collected 544 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, India's opening batsmen have batted very well. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul's brilliant centuries were really impressive, besides Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant also batted brilliantly. KL Rahul got out after scoring 100 runs and Shubman Gill got out after scoring 126 runs. However, Mohammad Saleem Safi was in the best form in the bowling performance of the Afghanistan team, he alone took 6 wickets. However, the chances of Afghanistan winning this Test match against India are very low, as the Indian team has quite good bowling and batting, in that case it will be difficult for Afghanistan to meet the target.

Agreed, they lack experience as they hardly play test cricket. In total, they have played 13 matches, out of which they lost 7, won 5, and drew 1. This is one of the matches that is being played out of blue, as I have not seen India playing test matches at home in the month of June. I saw KL Rahul struggling in the heat. I have zero idea what compelled BCCI to come up with test cricket in the month of June. Panth is Panth always before he can reach his century. I guess he has feet anxiety which cause this issue

English bowlers maintained pressure in both innings and didn't allowed NZ batsmen to score runs.
