In this match, the pitch conditions were actually a bit more bowling friendly and because of this, neither team was able to improve their batting performance. However, England recovered somewhat in the second innings. Although their scoring average was lower than a good score in the Test format, the New Zealand batsmen still couldn't beat it.

Although it was clear before match time that New Zealand would lose this match, they lost their wickets very quickly, just like in the first innings.

Both England an NZ have terrible first innings in terms of batting but English Batsmen did well to score 226 runs in second innings and that was also turning point of the match. NZ batsmen were not able to score runs in second innings also as a result England won the match by 115 runs. The pitch was not batting friendly but still credit goes to English batsmen for scoring runs in second innings. English bowlers maintained pressure in both innings and didn't allowed NZ batsmen to score runs.

Bizarre batting from New Zealand in this test no batsman was able to stay on the crease and do something positive for his team in the second inning just 3 batsmen were able to touch double figures; others went cheaply and faced humiliating defeat.
After this big win against Ireland, few were expected to be able to put on a good display of batting, but they were completely clueless. This let them down in the first test at Lords; rain gave some way, but this was also not enough.
Now the second test is going to be started on 17th June, enough time for New Zealand to have some improvement; otherwise, it's going to be humiliating defeats if they are not having good batting.

AFG lacked strategies too, they leaked singles as well as boundaries, which is not a good sign. Either they should go attacking or defensive and going with that can stop boundaries or singles, but failed. Saleem Safi did well, but their spinners were not even troubling but I expected them to bowl at least tighter lines.

Everyone bagged runs, should be a good practice match before the real game begins.

Every one should take this as good excercise and for the strong teams it should real match practice and for afg and ire it's fine way to gain more experience.

At the same time, BCCI need to up their scheduling tactics and stop being brainless. This afgan test would have helped more if we had next big home series (against sena teams) in next week or two.

England won this Test match by 115 runs. Considering that batting wasn't easy on this pitch, it is a win by a big margin. The New Zealand batsmen has no clue how to bat on this pitch and they failed miserably.  They made 113 runs in the first innings and 138 runs in the 2nd innings.

Glenn Phillips is the only New Zealand batsman who tried to bat better than the others, as he made 34 and 44 (not out) runs in both innings. Other than this, you can hardly find any batsmen reaching double figures.

Yes It is true when rashid khan is not playing in team Afghanistan team loses a lot of its energy and also the team looks unbalanced and weaker . Rashid khan is kind of player who can change the whole match anyways India is very strong team and Afghanistan cannot win match against India but we want to see that the match should be not one sided . Hashmat need to be more aggressive in decisions and reviews taking.because when u are playing against a world class team you have to take every single chance and risk u get .

Ollie Robinson was dominant in the first inning because he took 5 wickets in this match and he gave good strength to his team and in the second inning, Ollie Robinson  2 wickets in this match and he took 7 wickets in this match which was a good effort by that player and there was a same  type of performance by another player who also took 7 wickets in this match and that was Gus Atkinson who took 2  wickets in the first inning and he took 5 wickets in the second inning and  England International cricket team was dominant in this match because they tried to dominate in this match and they easily won this match. Emilio Gay made a score in the second inning which was good effort by that player.

Weak teams usually do mistakes like that when they play with a very strong opponent. It was pretty much expected that their bowlers wouldn't be able to do well in front of this strong batting line-up of India. Afghanistan has played only 1 test match with India until now. It was in 2018 and they had lost it by an innings. Looks like the same thing is going to repeat in this match.

Rashid Khan was ineffective in Test format and he was deadly in T20I and he is not even the same in the past couple of IPL season and in this red ball format, there is no hurry they can simply choose to eat away his over as much as they can and that is when he also starts bowling too many loose balls.

As I said, they made a strategic error by going with only one primary spinner, which is a crime and not taking the reviews is just a joke, maybe they will learn to handle the pressure in the future.

I was expecting 500 to 550 could be good for India; they declare after having this figure, while now India is having a good chance of winning this match by an inning because mostly Afghan mainstream players are not interested in this five-day game just because of this having too many youngsters and inexperienced players who are not having enough knowledge.

As these matches go on, like Ireland vs. New Zealand and now India vs. Afghanistan, I want them to have only the T20 format, which could be enough for them because they can do much better and also have a chance of improvement. This is going to be quite boring and a waste of money and time as well.
