Ben Stokes returns to captain England in the series-deciding third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, while Gus Atkinson is also back in the XI as England named their side two days before the match.

Stokes, Atkinson, Jamie Smith and Shoaib Bashir replace James Rew, Jordan Cox, Matthew Fisher and Sonny Baker in four changes to the side that suffered a 253-run defeat at The Oval. The XI largely resembles the one that helped England take a 1-0 lead at Lord's, with Jofra Archer's inclusion in place of Ollie Robinson the only difference from that winning combination.

England's heavily reshuffled side struggled in the second Test after making five changes to the team that won at Lord's. Chasing 463, they were bowled out for 209 as New Zealand levelled the series and forced a decider at Trent Bridge.

The first test pitch was nightmare for batsmen and such pitches must not be prepared for test cricket. English team is too much dependent on Ben Stokes and his absence leave the team clueless. To me, this match seems one sided after the innings and efforts of both of them because Essex batsmen did not play well in both the innings and scored runs in both the innings like a normal team but their opponents Nottinghamshire played very strongly and created a lot of problems for Essex. Essex batsmen gave such a low target due to which Nottinghamshire created a big problem for them. They scored 457 runs in the first innings itself and this was all because of Essex's careless bowling. If they had been tough on them and tried to stop the runs, it would have been easy for them to victory this match. Nottinghamshire scored runs with a good effort in the 1st innings and played with a lot of hard work and effort in their bowling which made Essex batsmen have to be defeated.

Still, I think England team will be the favorite to win the series by winning the last match of the series with the home field advantage. However, I can guess something different, New Zealand may be going to win the last match of the series. England got a great win in the first match, but England lost the second match by a huge margin, although some important players of England were absent in the second match, Ben Stokes returned in the last match of the series, i.e. the third Test match. Whatever the situation, the result of the match depends on the pitch. If the pitch is good, New Zealand will win the match.

Is the pitch in Nottingham batting friendly ? Both the New zealand openers are playing brilliantly. England bowlers have not taken any wickets in 21 overs. New Zealand have scored 76 runs. The average first innings score at this ground in Nottingham is 327. This is quite helpful for the batsmen. If New Zealand can bat responsibly, I estimate that they will collect at least  450+ in the first innings.

ESS played first innings but their  batsman were not energetic. Every players contributed with little scores. Not a single players were able to reached even fifty. Even they couldn't produce strong partnerships so in first innings they posted only 184 runs. Then NOT gave furious reply, their planning and players attitude towards the game was very serious. Especially Jack Haynes and Haseeb Hameed added big numbers for the team. Team NOT posted 457 such challenging and difficult target for the opponents. ESS came again for the reply but again first eight overs were quite difficult for them. NOT took their 3 important wickets. However after that they team showed some serious attitude and focus on their wickets. James Allison was the top scorer with 56 runs. But again NOT put the pressure through the ball and got all players wickets or win the game by the gap of 52 runs. NOT proved themselves in the series very strong and well prepared team with both aspects of ball and bat.

An impressive display of batting from Kiwis after winning the toss and having batted first in the third test at Birmingham, 181 for no loss, Devon Conway 83 and Tom Latham 87 punishing English bowlers who have no rhythm again after losing the second test at the Oval.

Again, four changes in the English team are not helping them in any way, as they are badly down and out of this match and series. Even New Zealand is also facing problems due to injuries of Matt Henry and Glenn Phillips, but they have better batsmen and bowlers who can give them good results.

I feel bad for England, as they are having a braindead system and selectors.
