Tamim Iqbal has made the decision to step down as Bangladesh ODI captain. Also, he won't be part in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 due to a back injury. Since taking charge as the ODI captain in 2021, Tamim Iqbal has had a decent record. Liton Das may lead Bangladesh ODI team for the Asia Cup 2023.

I think It's a great decision, as this will allow him concentrate on his batting. There is also a possibility that he may comeback during the upcoming ODI home series vs New Zealand.

If Tamim Iqbal is not able to play in the upcoming World Cup then I think it will be a big bad news for cricket as we all know he is one of the top batsmen in Bangladesh so Bangladesh cricket will understand his shortcoming. Since Tamim Iqbal will not be able to play due to his back injury or he will not be in ODI captaincy we as cricket fans will surely wish him a speedy recovery so that we can enjoy his game sitting in the gallery or in front of the television in the upcoming World Cup.

Tamim Iqbal's injury could put the Bangladesh cricket team in a lot of trouble.  Because if he cannot play for Bangladesh as Team Captain then Bangladesh will be very weak.  And it does not seem that a player like Shakib Al Hasan can take Bangladesh in a good position as Team Vice-Captain.  Although Bangladesh has better players but no one can fully fill the void of Tamim Iqbal. So it remains to be seen how much Tamim Iqbal can overcome his injury before November.  And how much he can do for Bangladesh

I doubt if Rishab will make a comeback anytime soon, his recovery will take a minimum of 6-8 months and then there is a match fitness issue. Forget about the ODI wc (Oct 2023), atm Indian management is not even considering him for the test series against SA and England, which is scheduled around Dec 2023-Jan 2024 and Jan-Mar 2024.

Regarding his consistency.

Sky's average is 24 after playing 26 matches and Sanju's 55 after featuring in 13 matches.

OK.. so Pant is not going to be fit anytime soon. Samson's average is boosted by the fact that he remained not out on 5 out of 12 occasions when he got to bat. He has scored a total of 390 runs from 13 ODI matches (and his best average is against Zimbabwe). For Suryakumar Yadav, the average is impacted by the fact that he scored 0 runs in three matches against Australia. He has decent average against teams such as Sri Lanka and South Africa. Also, SKY played a majority of his ODI matches in SENA conditions (6 in West Indies).

Well, that's how average works in general. Most of the time Sanju goes not out because he bats in the lower middle order.

But anyway look at Sky's recent numbers, if we leave out his first 6-7 innings then it does say something about his consistency in ODI.

I actually wanted to see Shardul Thakur get five wickets in the last match. But the performance was good from him anyway. He got four wickets. I think probably the only disappointing thing for India was to actually lose the second match of this series.

Tbh, I fail to understand how Thakur ends up picking wickets when there is some sort of partnership going on. When everyone fails he comes with his golden arm and breaks a partnership.

Surprising because he's not a very skilled bowler or has any pace but according to his teammates he does have immense confidence in his limited abilities and is a proper workhorse in challenging situations.

Liton Das may lead Bangladesh ODI team for the Asia Cup 2023.

I do not know about the decision of Liton Das being the captain of Bangladesh. I certainly think that he does not have enough experience to be the captain. But what I have seen so far from him being the vice captain of Bangladesh, he has really good awareness. He displays a profound understanding of the on-field dynamics and exhibits swift decision-making capabilities.

But he is old at this point, and he is also not in good form anymore. The best course of action for Bangladesh would be his retirement, as it would urge them to explore alternative opening batsmen who possess greater potential and skill.

The coms were saying that in ODI he's the leading wicket taker for India, since the last ODI wc. Maybe because not many bowlers like Shami, Bumrah etc are playing regularly.

His domestic stats do suggest that he's an average cricketer at best but in international it's completely opposite, which is pleasing and surprising at the same time. A big plus is his batting down the order.

In a press conference yesterday, Tamim stepped down from ODI cricket captaincy in the presence of BCB president. He blamed the injury issue for stepping down from the captaincy as his back injury is also a concern for his World Cup tournament. If he is not fully fit during the World Cup, he will miss the World Cup tournament. If Tamim Iqbal misses the World Cup tournament then it will be a big bad news for Bangladesh cricket as he is one of the most reliable and successful opening batsman in Bangladesh cricket. The team relies a lot on his performance in ODI cricket so his absence could be a worry for the management. The ODI cricket captain is yet to be announced by BCB, if Shakib Al Hasan is offered the captaincy till the World Cup, Shakib Al Hasan will not accept the offer directly as he will not take charge of the team except for a long term.

Even I agreed about this but mostly Asian sports and fans are not familiar with this all just because of this we feel complexity about this in European leagues and few times big events this all is regular just because of this we never feel any problem about these things there for me now it's time for us to have things like these because with these things can go in positive way even this all is not easy but if someone tries then most chances things can take good turn about this all.

Sports it surely needs to have something positive for bringing peoples near and ending tensions and many other conflicts which are currently creating problems for common peoples and countries as well in future we need Bangladesh and Nepal also try in this way and then Pakistan with Afghanistan can also go with this same way again in future.

Its good that we are having Asia cup finally. Since BCCI is one of the biggest board, its very hard for small board like PCB to fight with them. Its a win-win situation for BCCI that hey are not going to Pakistan for Asia cup and also hosting Pakistan in India. PCB former chairmen took stance on that but you cant expect anything sane from a journalist like Sethi. Who became PCB head only for his services for ruling party PML-N.

This has actually been done before already. The 2015 world cup was hosted by Australia and New Zealand. But obviously something like this has not been done in the Asia cup. At least not as far as I know. So this is certainly going to be interesting. Only four matches are going to be played in Pakistan. Considering the fact that it was almost decided that Pakistan is not going to host the Asia cup, I see this as an absolute win for Pakistan.

I think it is actually a good thing that the Pakistan versus India match is going to be played in Sri Lanka. Who knows what could have happened if the match was actually played in Pakistan!

If he plays on a slow pitch he is really very much effective, player like him always perform well on slow pitch. and to be honest he he is really aged and doesnot have much pace. So in a fast track, he is not going to be very useful. even if he is useful in a fast track, there are other players in the Indian team who will be far better options compared to him.  He is a player who has to be utilized properly by the captain. Like he cannot be used towards the end overs. He also cannot be used as the opener while bowling in my opinion.

And my perspective is, if those fans called him "Lord" as fun then it is normal, but if they have any bad intentions by calling him "Lord" then it is really disgusting.  But sometimes people misunderstand things. Anyway India certainly has better options compared to him. But if he is used properly, I think he will be a great asset for India. Especially when he is in form.

I just realized that the first four matches are not going to be played in Pakistan as I thought. I thought the first four matches were going to be played in Pakistan and after that everyone was going to move to Sri Lanka. But that is not the case. The venues are going to be changing. Don’t know if that is very efficient to be honest.

Bangladesh did not do very well recently in the ODI series. So I think Afghanistan does actually have a chance to pull something incredible off.

Actually, it's the opposite. He flourishes and performs well when playing on seam, bouncy and fast wickets, hence he only features in SENA (SA, ENG,NZ,AUS) countries.

He debuted in India tho but only bowled less than 2 overs and got injured. After that, he never got a chance to play in India and considering his domestic record on Indian tracks, it seems a right decision.
