In my view there is less chance for India to win the Asia Cup based on the recent performance. Though it is an ODI the performance of the players doesn't have much of variation. I think one of the small team will make miracles and reach till the finals. I'm not sure about the result of the match.

It's too early to say that India will not reach the finals of the Asia Cup. Yes, India lost to WI in a T20 series but Asia Cup is a different format, a format of ODI with different playing conditions of Asia, which may suit India better.

I think let the Asia Cup start, see how India plays their initial games, see how other teams are performing and then we may be in a position to predict that this Asia cup may or may not be for the Indians. Until then, all the fears and speculations mean no value.

Although India lost the T20 series against West Indies, It will not the same bad performance in the ODI Asia Cup. There is a big difference  between a series game and a tournament. As there will be a big opponent like Pakistan so India will try to impose their maximum effort on the tournament.

Both of team can (Afghanistan and Pakistan) play against a country who is participating in the Asia Cup in this session before the tournament, it is undoubtedly a big opportunity. One can get an early idea of how they will fare, especially in the Asia Cup 2023. Although Pakistan and Afghanistan are divided into two groups, the two teams will be able to further their warm-up in such a series almost a week before the Asia Cup. Pakistan is one of the leading countries in world cricket. Even now their position is better. They have a chance to win this tournament as well if they manage to beat India.

The situation is not black and white but gray.

It's true majority of the fans love fast-paced cricket that's why we are witnessing T-20 Franchise cricket everywhere but at the same Test cricket does matter, at least in England, Australia and India. Indian stadium might go empty during any test series but media rights for these test series are creating new records especially when it's against Australia and to some extent England.

I absolutely agree that the situation is not black and white. At the same time, the majority of the people who do not want to watch test cricket. But at the same time the top four teams are good at test cricket and they do earn good money. It is important for them. And we all know that  ICC is always taking orders from the top four teams.

So even though ICC can actually improve the situation and popularity of cricket by giving the T-20 format more importance and not having test cricket as a format, they are not going to do that. So this is a very interesting situation. I also know that even though a lot of people do not want to watch test cricket, if ICC does decide to remove test cricket totally, a lot of people are going to say that “it was not that bad”.

The series is going to start on August 22. And I also believe that this is going to be the best preparation for both of them. For Pakistan, I don’t think it is going to be the best preparation. I think it would have been a bit of preparation for Pakistan if they could have played against bigger opponents. But it is what it is. Afghanistan is also not a very bad opponent, to be honest. For Afghanistan, it is definitely going to be a good preparation. Furthermore, dare I opine that Pakistan, fueled by an unwavering determination, shall strive to transcend all expectations within the grand stage of the Asia Cup. After all, they are not going to forget the disrespect of not being able to host the Asia Cup in their country. (the whole Asia Cup tournament)

They performed really well initially, but in the end lost to an out of form Sri Lankan side (Pakistan initially lost to India in the group phase, but defeated them during Super-4). Nice to see that they are preparing well for the tournament. And Afghanistan is a team that is constantly improving (despite all the internal issues, such as a freeze on funding from the ICC).

Had this Asia Cup tournament been held in any country other than Pakistan, Pakistan would never have organized such a bilateral series just before the start of the Asia Cup tournament. While the various teams participating in the Asia Cup tournament are busy planning how to do well in the tournament, Pakistan as the host team is planning a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan right before the Asia Cup. This series between Afghanistan and Pakistan is not as good for Pakistan as it is for Afghanistan as Afghanistan get a chance to play three matches against one of the favorites of the Asia tournament before the start of the tournament which will give them the strength to do well in the Asia Cup tournament.

Can't comment on the team morale.. Initially the tournament was scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, but then as a result of opposition from India it was moved to Sri Lanka. This would have definitely had an impact on the morale of the Pak players. But they are in good form, and the real competition starts from super-4 phase onwards by next month. Last time, Pakistan lost the finals against Sri Lanka, despite being favored by gamblers to win the trophy. Hopefully this time they will make up for that lost opportunity and win the tournament.

I do not think that Pakistan is going to have any change because they have never been ideal side for learning from their mistakes because their setup and all background is never been ideal for any improvement like we have few peoples back in management which are not good and have tag of biased and also create problems just for their own ego so with this all how can anyone think they are going to have changes in coming events.

Asia Cup has never been ideal event for them as well with most chances we will have winner from the Sri Lanka or India and Pakistan is going to be ended with another second spot or just eliminate from the semifinal after this Asia Cup we have no time for the World Cup which is mega event and most chances things will also not good for Pakistan in this event as well.

As far as I know Pakistan is currently preparing hard to change itself. How far Pakistan have been able to improve their turnaround will only be known when the 3-match ODI series between Afghanistan vs Pakistan begins on August 22. It is expected that Pakistan will be able to present the best tie to the cricket lovers in this series. I have decided to bet for Pakistan team in this ODI series and I am fully prepared to enjoy this series.

And 1 good news for Indian fans, there are some reports coming out that Rishab Pant played in a practice match, not sure about the field but he did come to bat.

I will tell you that you can bet for any team. But placing bets before the start of the game or match is not at all right. Because many times matches are abandoned due to various reasons. I will tell you that it is much better to bet during the match. And it is also not possible to say how well Pakistan can do in this series.  Pakistan cricket team has left evidence in many previous matches, although they played a bit better in the beginning of the game, they had to return home in a shambles in the last stage of the game.

Since it is T20 then it can be competitive but India does have a good side and they will be struggling against the returning Jasprit Bumrah and really curious how he will be performing after a long gap.

Wish Rinku Singh will get a chance to make his debut as he is deserving to be in the team and hopefully Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal continue with their impressive form in this series as well.

Well.. I am skeptical about Ireland's chances. They have the home advantage for sure, as the matches are taking place at the Malahide ground in Dublin. But Ireland's recent form has been disappointing. In fact, they have performed below par ever since they were awarded the test status in 2019. One player who can make a difference is Josh Little. He has been a regular feature in T20 leagues around the world and he can trouble Indian batsmen at home. And the Irish batsmen need to think about how to handle Jasprit Bumrah, who is making a comeback in this series.

Guess uncertainty around the tournament and participation of teams added more headaches to this. They should be happy tho, as far as I understand it should be Diwali time for them and they must milk it.

Aha, I doubt that. It's India A Emerging vs Ireland, not India vs Ireland so it won't be one-sided series. I'd be very surprised if it's a dud.

Well.. you can label the squad as India A or India Emerging, but officially it is the Indian senior team. Jasprit Bumrah got an opportunity to captain the team, with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the deputy. Sanju Samson gets another opportunity despite repeated failures. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma will be hoping to continue with their good form with the bat. So will be Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar with the ball. India lost against West Indies due to the absence of senior players. But Ireland is so pathetic right now, that they would get defeated even by an Indian U-15 team.
