I am not sure whether India vs Pakistan matches are so much of a thing now. They used to be hyped up previously. But now these matches have lost their x factor, simply because too many matches between these two teams are being played. And also, for quite some time there have been no major conflict incidents between these two countries, apart from the low-level guerilla warfare being waged in Kashmir. Fans have moved on, and India vs Pakistan is no longer one of their priorities. They are more concerned about India not winning a major ICC tournament for a while.

India had never lost to Pakistan in any ICC events till 2017 when Pakistan completely destroyed India in champions trophy final and then a 10 wickets defeat in T20I World Cup. That's why Indians don't have much interest left in match with Pakistan. Its good that there is no conflict between both countries and its in best in interest of Pakistan to not engage in any conflict with India.

The selection is definitely good. The first time when I saw this picture, I thought something was missing. And then I realized that Shikhar Dhawan is retiring. he was definitely a good opener for India in my opinion. But at the same time it is also true that India does not have any problem replacing him with younger players at this moment.

Anyway, desolation is definitely good right now. Pant is someone who could make the team stronger as @JSRAW said. But it is what it is. The team does look really strong anyway.

To be fair to KL Rahul his numbers in ODI as middle order batter is not bad, actually it's the opposite so not surprised of his inclusion in the squad and possibly playing XI.

SKY selection is surprising tho as his numbers are worst in ODI but i guess he gets the entry due to the X-factor. Other than that it's surprising to see a lack of quality spinners in the future planning considering WC is in India but i guess they are targeting a deep batting lineup overall.

Playing under his captaincy is really good and this gives the squad give their natural game. Inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav isn't a surprise for me, because he had been seen like grabbing an opportunity to play ODI though he's good at T20.

Considering the World Cup, these players getting chances to play is really good. If they were able to give better performance the same can be continued with the ODI World Cup squad.

I think we all know why it is only an issue with cricket. Cricket is very big in both of these countries. So of course there are going to be drama around cricket in both of these countries. I want people to understand that in a cricket match between India and Pakistan, there are so many big names coming to see the match which is absolutely insane. Those names do not even visit the NBA matches or not even any football match to be honest.

Almost every big Baller comes to see the match between India and Pakistan. That is why there are so much interest in a match between India and Pakistan. And that is also the reason why there are so many politics going on around this match. The other sports are not as affected as cricket by the political drama between these two countries, and that’s because the other sports are not big enough in these countries to be honest.

What is the point in having a series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at Sri Lanka? They could have hosted the series at either Pakistan or Afghanistan. Or even they could have hosted it at the United Arab Emirates. If they want to get adjusted to the climate conditions in Sri Lanka, then it would have been better to make it a triangular series by including Sri Lanka as well. It would have been better if Pakistan batted and bowled instead of batting because they are already in a lot of trouble. Pakistan have already lost 3 wickets which put them under a lot of pressure especially with Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan not at the crease, Pakistan team is under more pressure. Pakistan are not scoring too many runs today, Afghanistan bowlers are bowling very well and Pakistan are under good pressure. Although there are wickets in hand here, if Pakistan can improve their batting, runs will be possible.
