That was really a wonderful game, almost like that overtime game against New Zealand. But this time we owned the game at home. Playing on your home court really helps, especially with the crowd giving the team extra energy.
Kai Sotto really saved the day. Right now, many people are focusing on Scottie’s mistake, but there are also posts saying he was the unsung hero of the game. He may not have focused much on offense, but he helped limit the production of Jordan’s import, and that was a big reason why Gilas won. His defense and rebounding were also very important. Sometimes we don’t notice those things because we are too focused on scoring, but Scottie’s impact was really there.

There is a reason why Coach Tim Cone still included him in the lineup, and that is mainly because of his defense. And if we observe the game, once Scottie was already handling the point guard duties, the flow became much better. He was not looking to score every time, he was looking to pass and move the ball, and that ball movement was really one of the most effective strategies for Gilas in that win. It was only a one-point win, but it was still big considering we did it without our naturalized player. Hopefully they can carry the same kind of play against Iran, which is ranked higher than Jordan.

Thanks to Kai and of course to everyone who's part of the Gilas team but that block by Kaiju really did it. Imagine the last shot was done by Olajuwon, son of Hakeem and then just some tall guy in the Gilas roster of Philippines block his shot. Dang! history in the making. The crowd was so happy on that and on everyone's home watching the guy, it's certainly that all of us have cheered for that moment.

So Jordan has two naturalized players, Harris and Olajuwon, and they still lost to the Philippines? Does this already show that Gilas has really improved? I mean, we didn’t even have Brownlee and we were still able to beat them. Now going into another game tomorrow, is it still good to back Gilas? Checking the odds now, Gilas is -4.5 against Iran. Hmm... does this mean Jordan was actually the stronger team compared to Iran?

As I usually bet, this time I want to simply give my sympathy and support for them without any betting in it. I don't know why but it gives me that feeling this time and I hope that they'll win against Iran later.

Each players have their own contributions even those who didn't got the chance to play they are all in that lineup showing their intension to help, the motivations brings the win to the team, let us focus on how to support them in their upcoming game just hoping to see those young guns Like Tamayo (if he can play as I understand that he got injured) Kai, KQ,Edu and Ramos those selections who are always ready to bring all in just give them minutes and they will give the team a good outcome. Good luck mga kabayan!

Odds on my favorites bookies showing that Iran is the slight favorite to win against Gilas. Iran has a close game against New Zealand the other day, it went into overtime and they looked good on that game. There are shooters in every position from guard to their center so i don't think that Jordan is better than Iran but i think Gilas could do well today because of their high morale with that win against Jordan. I just hope though that Gilas' shooters could find their mark early so that we won't play catchup basketball.

I like to bet for Iran tonight but i dont want to betray my country I will just enjoy and watch the game with some glass of whisky. I really hope Gilas will Win tonight. Are we in favor because of the Homecourt? Or Iran is weaker than opur roster now?

If you don’t fully trust Gilas, maybe just bet a little. $20 would do, at least you are still backing and supporting them. Iran may look better on paper, but home court is still an advantage. Remember, Gilas came back from an 18-point deficit and still won against Jordan. That was only their first game too, so now they should have a better idea of their chemistry and what works for the team. I’m still backing Gilas here.

As usual, Gilas were behind in the first quarter but were able to come back in the second. Iran only has a single-digit lead now, so no need to worry yet, we still have the whole second half.
Gilas already made some adjustments, and what I like is their defense is still there. They are forcing Iran to take more outside shots, and if Iran gets tired in the second half, those shots may not keep falling.
I actually like Gilas as a halftime bet here. I think they can get this one again.

Huge second-quarter run by Gilas, 29-16. At halftime they are already leading by 2 points, 36-34. Hopefully this will be the same story as the Jordan game, but this time no overtime please . Just let Gilas take control in the second half and win the game without making us nervous again.

They are way behind and Iran made double digits lead against Philippines on early quarter, but great adjustment made and now Gilas is leading at dying minutes on fourth quarter. Everyone is clicking and now they are now at 10 pts lead, I think Gilas will take this win again and this is huge boost for them and also for fans watching this game. This current roster is so promising and imagine even if they don't have import they manage to defeat Jordan and Iran which is consider one of strong teams in Asia.

We dominated the rebounding department, so we were able to control the game. The two bigs, Edu and Kai Sotto, protected the rim really well, which is why Iran struggled to attack inside and had to rely more on outside shooting. Only one player, Shaky, was really producing for Iran, but it was not enough against Gilas’ teamwork. As a result, we won by double digits, our biggest win so far. And this win is also a good dedication to JMF since this could be his last run with Gilas Pilipinas. He is getting older now, so maybe it is time to give more opportunities to the younger guys. Congrats Gilas and congrats to the backers.

I will still not bet for anytime on the next game and I hope Gilas will win again. what a night for PH fans.

. I just hope though that Gilas' shooters could find their mark early so that we won't play catchup basketball. Congratulations! Gilas won with 12 points lead and so this +2.5 of yours made it even better. After winning against Jordan, the all filipino roster is doing it. Just believe to the roster and they're going to win against these powerhouses that before our national team have been having a hard time to beat. I'm not saying that we don't need JB, we still need him and hopefully for the next games he'll be there. We're all hoping that this streak is going to continue for the next games until they qualify for the world cup. And June Mar Fajardo officially retires from the Gilas. Well done, Abai!

This all-Filipino roster just got different from the rest because of the presence of the towering Kai Sotto, he just made the difference. Yeah, we need Justine Brownlee, that's for sure and if ever he will make it to next window then that would be great for Gilas as he is the leading scorer of the team and having him will just ease the offensive load for Kai Sotto and he could just focus more on defense and rebounding. Good job Gilas and hope you will still do good on the next window.

When is there next game?
BTW, did you guys see the interview with Tim Cone? He mentioned contacting the Miami Heat regarding Kai Sotto. If something really comes out of that, we could finally see a full-blooded Filipino make it to the NBA. I’m sure they were impressed with what Kai showed, especially how he protected the paint and used his size inside. That kind of height and rim protection could be useful in the NBA. Hopefully he gets a real opportunity and finally fulfills that dream.

When is there next game?
It will be this November, later this year. But the games will not be in the Philippines, so that probably means the PBA will already be back by then. And when the November window comes, there is also a good chance Justin Brownlee will already be available. Even without him though, I think this current lineup can still compete as long as Kai is there. They already showed that they can win even without Brownlee. Based on the schedule, their next opponents are Syria, Iran, Jordan, and then Syria again. I think Gilas has a good chance in those games, especially since they already proved they can beat Iran and Jordan. ( 2 this year, 2 early next year)

When is there next game? November and this is their next game schedule. Syria is tough team, but I believe Gilas have huge chance to defeat team. The other games is a revenge game between Jordan and Iran, although gilas already defeated them earlier. But challenge still tough, since for sure that both Iran and Jordan is eager to bounce back then will try to defeat Gilas on their next match up. Rooting for Gilas to have clean winning record and advance in Worldcup.

But challenge still tough, since for sure that both Iran and Jordan is eager to bounce back then will try to defeat Gilas on their next match up. Rooting for Gilas to have clean winning record and advance in Worldcup. In contrast to what you said regarding Syria being a tough team, they're at the last spot of the groups right now, and the only 2 wins that they've got are against Iraq which is now eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers. I don't see them defeating anybody on the Group E including our Gilas team, but I guess let's not be complacent because like what they always say, "The ball is round" so let's always give our 100% in whatever opponents we are facing. Those wins against Iran and Jordan really boosted the morale of the whole team, and now they're 1 win behind those teams. The next 4 games will determine the faith of our team. Let's give the games to Syria a "sure win already" so that's a 6-4 record for the Gilas. They might've won against Iran and Jordan, but now they're playing away so that might be an advantage towards the home countries, but if they manage to win both, that would be 8-4 which means a sure 3rd spot and that will qualify them to the World Cup. That's the magic number right now. A 7-5 record is kind of dangerous still and that might not put them on the 3rd spot, but let's just see. I believe in our Gilas right now with or without a naturalized player. I guess not having one really helps the whole team as it gives them an opportunity to show their full potential in some of the biggest stages like this. Well, I really do hope that Kai Sotto will play for the team because it looks like he's the "morale booster" of the team as we've seen in those 2 games. Congratulations to our Gilas team, and congratulations to us who put some bets on them as well. P.S. Speaking of Kai, this is the record of our Gilas team with and without him playing for our team. That's how important of a piece he is right now.
