2026 PBA Governor's Cup

When was the last time we saw a team outside of MVP or SMC company that reached the PBA Finals? I looked at Wikipedia, and it was year 2017-2018, and it was Alaska. Ever since that year, it would always been an SMC Vs. MVP duel on the Finals.

For the last 10 years, ROS was the only team outside the usual groups to win a championship, and they only did it once.

The most dominant teams have been SMB and Ginebra, which belong to the same owner. TNT has also won, along with other sister teams connected to these groups, such as Meralco -  and Magnolia (this is SMB btw)..

So the data pretty much shows that there is favoritism in the league. They dictate who will advance to the finals because they already know what the people want to see. Once manipulation happens, the real competition is gone.

This team is really one of the team that stand against this giant, they were able to match those teams, coach yeng really makes player show what they can do inside the court, what really amazing is this players were not the super star level but once they are in coach yengs team they suddenly become a star, without forcing themselves, over the years this has been the strategy of the ROS, if im going to chose a team ill go with ROS because you will be surprise on what they can do even they are not a super team.

No doubt about exposures as coach Yeng wants everyone to be involve, he's known to be a good motivator his coaching style is near close to how Sen. Jaworski brings the talent out of his players, they are not a known superstars but they comes up playing at their best when giving a chance to have decent minutes inside the court, and yeah, if ever that by chance there's another team to win a title aside from MVP and SMC, they might have that opportunity to win one.

No doubt about exposures as coach Yeng wants everyone to be involve, he's known to be a good motivator his coaching style is near close to how Sen. Jaworski brings the talent out of his players, they are not a known superstars but they comes up playing at their best when giving a chance to have decent minutes inside the court, and yeah, if ever that by chance there's another team to win a title aside from MVP and SMC, they might have that opportunity to win one.

He tried coaching NLEX before, but it was not successful. Maybe the team was not able to fully adapt to his style, and at that time, it seemed like he was no longer as effective.

But when he returned to ROS, we saw his real coaching talent again. He turned a young team into a championship contender.

It is very exciting to watch this young team because they are fearless and they trust each other. They keep attacking, and they are not afraid to take shots, even if they rely a lot on outside shooting.

I’m sure the moneyline odds for BW in this game were high, but as we can see now, Magnolia has already made it close. BW’s lead is down to only five points, and we are already in the fourth quarter. I think Magnolia will make sure they take this win. They may not cover the spread, but I’m still confident they will win the game.

I was unable to bet on this game. It could have given a big return because Blackwater won, 89–81, and their moneyline odds were probably high.

This early in the conference, this team is already winning, so following the trend could really be profitable. There may be no need to watch the whole game if you trust that the organization will try to create some balance by allowing smaller teams to win some games, even if they may not be given much of a chance in the playoffs.

At least Blackwater did not finish with zero wins in the standings.

I've placed a bet for Magnolia and i thought i got a good odds on that one as the spread is not too high, it was only 3.5 and the ML odds for Blackwater was at 2.xx, not too high maybe because they won their first game while on the other hand Magnolia dropped its first game against Meralco. Seems like Magnolia is not the team it used to be, they should be winning against teams like Blackwater but now they are on the other end of the rope, coaching problems?

You were right, they really made a huge comeback in the third quarter, outscoring them 41–23. Now they are leading by 10 points in the final quarter.

There is still plenty of time left, but after seeing your team make that strong comeback and take a double-digit lead, you are already very close to winning at those huge odds.

You can say it now because that was a successful comeback. 

ROS folded again, and if I am not mistaken, they are now on a two-game losing streak. It is surprising to see a top team start badly this early. Maybe this is a sign that they will win the championship, because teams like TNT, SMB, and Ginebra have also struggled early before becoming stronger later in the conference.

That seems right because Coach Yeng is already a proven and seasoned coach, yet his performance with NLEX was not good.

Now that he is back with ROS, everything seems to be going well again. Even though they started 0–2, I still believe they can make the playoffs. This team is resilient, and they will not stop fighting.

Once they find their rhythm, I think they can put together a winning streak that will place them in a good position.

So next time, I might bet bigger on them because I do not think this losing streak will continue for long.

I thought that my bet was going to loss because SMB was leading by 20+ in the first half but luckily Terrafirma make a comeback and they almost win as they took the lead with a few minutes to go in the game but they fell short but nevertheless it was a win for me. Junemar Fajardo did play on that game but hardly was a factor as he managed to score only 2 points.

For tonight i'm still going with the underdog. Phoenix will play Ginebra in the second game tonight with the Gin Kings parading a new import. He has yet to be tested so i'm not going to gamble with that.

I'll go with you Kabayan, just wishing that I've got decent spare to bet for them, as you said they are resilient and with coach Yeng he'll make sure to find that adjustment with his strict ways and those foul words surely players will realize what's needed for them to do finding that rhythm and start playing as one to win and start their campaign in this new season.

Yes Kabayan, new import means new adjustments and CTC might read how  his new import will play during the actual competition, he'll going to find the right blend and sets of players to accompany their reinforcement during the game, Good luck Kabayan!

So far, the visiting teams are still winless. I watched the game but didn’t finish it because TNT already had a huge lead. I thought it would end the same way as Macau’s first game. To my surprise, when I checked the final score, it was 106–103—just a three-point win for TNT.

I’m pretty sure those who bet on Macau with the handicap won their bets, since I’m guessing the line was somewhere close to +10.

And Phoenix managed to win, Gin kings rally during the final quarter got out of time, though they show their never say die attitude but Phoenix manage to keep the distance and did not allow to snatch the win from them, I did not watch the game but I did look for the final score online, congrats Kabayan bisdak and to those who bet for Phoenix especially those who took them for ML before the game start surely that's really decent profit to win the money line.
