Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling?

I believe there are many people like that because these days, people don't go to offices again for office jobs. So, staying at home or being independent, it can also be gambling for living.

but is there such a thing as professional gamblers?

If you mean professional as the people who gamble and not make mistake or lose, I would say is not the right word because I think gamblers also lose, in fact huge losses at times that would make them have a rethink not to continue.

Therefore, professional or professionalism is more like never making mistake but gamblers make mistakes.

You can but you have to be cheating where you don't get caught but overall the house always wins 99 percent of the time.

Not quite true, the person who hopes to profit is probably best fighting his fellow man in games of skill then a machine that is designed to serve its master with a profit.    Very few instances of a regular game will allow the player to win overall long term because that would be a money loss machine.
   However beating other people in poker is totally feasible and some are professional and dedicated enough to do so regularly and make a living.   Not very many though.

I do know there are professional gamblers. They don't use their own money though. More like people pool their money and the professional gambler plays for them. They then split any winnings. If there is none, then at least the loss was spread out among them. Just like investing in any business.

I have an India customers that live complete on gambling. If he win most time as he always do, he do come to my business area to buy clothing. It is one of the example of the person I have seen living completely on gambling and has made fortune through it.

Yes their are people who are making a living out of gambling, they are a high roller and special people in the casinos, they are separated from other casinos players, I believe they are well provided because they spent millions playing in their casinos, every casinos have their own high rollers, this is the reason why people keep playing big time in casino to be one of them.

Could you give me examples of such high rollers and special people in casinos? Wonder why those are considered special.

Doesn't it look like the high rollers maybe doing well in gambling because they were  rich already before venturing into gambling?

The other option, If you got a skilled gamble like "Poker".

You can try to participate with an international poker tournament, But not all gamble game can get a tournament. Until now i only see a poker tournament for a gambling game.

Also not everyone is capable to participate in international poker tournament Also Poker is not something which requires a lot of skill.
I think no one should think that they can make a career out of gambling. Gambling should only be treated as part time earning or entertainment.

I have heard of skilled gamers earning handsomely and consistently from video game gambling/competition.  
There are also professional poker players who likely make a living from competitive poker.

Many people do not play gambling for fun only, they take it seriously and real way to make money. I personally know few gamblers who are betting offline on sports  and getting good income.

There are lot of people think that they are professionally gamblers but in reality there is no professional gambling are gamblers it just meant to be entertainment. When someone don't have any e profession other than gambling then they are risking their life too much and the chances of get over that risk is nearly zero.

I believe these professional gamblers are very strong in controlling their emotion when gambling. I've seen some who's very friendly when talking to someone but when in a game it's like a different person if you look at him. And he seemed to be more focused when in the middle of the game, i guess this is how they really make money from gambling. He doesn't waste such a small opportunity to slip off when there's money involved.

Even if there are players who can live out on their winnings, this is often for a very short time in the players lifespan, if they manage to gain hundreds of thousands of dollars sooner or later they have to pursue a 9-5 job to earn money. And I don't think that there is any gambling site out there, which offers zero house advantage. So no matter how skilled you are, in the long term you are expected to lose money.

There are professional gamblers, that's what I know. But I am not sure if they are living solely out of their gambling prizes. For sure, even the professionals lose. And as far as I can observe, those who are gambling with high bets have stable sources of huge income. They can spend all their days gambling because they can fully support it. If you are living only on your gambling wins, I doubt if you can sustain your life as a professional gambler. The tide is not always on your side, after all. 

Well indeed the tide will not always be on our side. But clearly there are people like that, where they make gambling as their main livelihood. Of course they have years of experience in gambling games, even I also have friends like that. He has been playing gambling for more than 10 years now, and he certainly told me that he had experienced a worst period. But the most important thing is to try self-introspection and look for what's wrong with our gambling strategy.

And for me, I would not make gambling a profession before I truly became a pro gambler. Because this is not an easy profession, we have a high risk afterwards.

This is a hard and risky way to live but there are professional gamblers who can live by gambling alone, we can include traders here, casinos will not divulge who among their clients are living in gambling but these high rollers know how to play to win to compensate for their losses because they have the means to do that.

If you consider games like poker as gambling, too, then there are definitly ways to become a professional player. Poker isnt that luck depended like eg. dicing, the skill of the player may even turn bad cards into a win.

If what you mean is that as a player I am not very sure, although yes we have heard some of them. But I have seen that most of those who succeed in gambling are those who run a gambling business not as players.

Maybe gambling is a big part for their living but for my personal opinion, I don't suggest to fully rely on gambling since it's a risk. Gambling is only good for entertainment and fun but not to take it too serious 'cause it could really put you in a bad situation.

^ There is an option there, "know your limit and be responsible". There are some people who love gambling because they can earn profit but sometimes they lose. In that case, you should know when to stop if you have won and know how to stop when the amount you have set was lost. Yes, gambling definitely good for entertainment but at the same time, you can earn money as well. For me, gambling as a profession is quite good but not a gambler, yet a gambling founder who run the business.
