Atletico Bilbao have opened the 2024/25 season with an early kickoff. Playing against a somewhat stubborn side in Getafe it's safe to say it's not going to be easy to get a win in the game. The away team played better to even put more pressure on the host and I was expecting a win but they (Getafe) were unlucky to not convert some of their chances and these guys became more faster than we used to know them, I just hope they continue like this to cause more problems to their opponent in the next game.

I have been saying that this Barcelona financial fair play crisis isn’t stopping them from coughing out money to sign players but the obstacle is registering them into the squad. The former Barcelona board had pitch Barcelona into this mess simply because of the heavy wage load on the club. I remember the period when the likes of Gerrard Pique had to cut their wages down, now they need to have players do Same or better still sell off some players to cut the wage load down and also to Raise money from the sale. The first player I think needs to be sold is Frankie De Jong, over last season he has been up for sale but his current wage is what is putting clubs off. The likes of Manchester United will be exploring this option but Barcelona needs to reduce the fee on the player so make it more affordable. Selling De Jong now who is the second highest paid player in Laliga will help them sign two or more players more

I am hoping we have a great season ahead. I can’t wait to watch Barcelona and Madrid play because I wants to see how the title challenge will be as early as possible because I know that none of them will wants to drop any points soon by all means.

The coming season will be another tough and interesting season to watch these clubs dragging the same title; they always challenge each other in any match or title, although I'm still yet to see a better performance from Barcelona from their friendly matches, and still they seem weak, but nobody knows how their performance will look in the main competition, so let's wait and watch.

I don't understand what strategy Valverde implemented because he benched Nico Williams and played him as a substitute. In fact, if you look at Nico Williams' big role, he can certainly trouble the opponent's defense if he is given the opportunity to play in the early minutes. Of course this is a big loss for Bilbao because in the first match they wasted the opportunity to get 3 points because they were playing at home and were also able to dominate the game but in the end they had to share the results with Getafe.

In another match, Girona also drew against Betis with a final score of 1-1.  Losing Dovbyk has disappointed us because he was the star player they sold in this transfer window. I think Girona will not be as strong as last season because their strength is not completely good in today's match.

Real Madrid was able to win Atalanta on a clean sheet and I believe that we have seen a little highlight on how the Champions League will be like for Real Madrid because all their players are just too good from the first eleven to the bench are all stars. It is a pity that Atalanta coach was acting as if it will be possible for him to win Real Madrid.

What is clear is that the game Madrid showed yesterday makes me feel quite confident that for this competition, especially for the Champions League, it will be a little difficult for other clubs to beat Madrid. For the La Liga competition they don't need to be questioned because they are definitely a subscription club that will compete for the championship but the Champions League now Madrid's probability has increased because after all, what they showed in terms of player strength and quality of play in terms of attack and Ancelotti's plans on the field explained that their level is getting higher now.

Nevertheless I will still give Girona some doubt benefits and see what they may have to offer by the time he season begins.

Unknowingly La Liga has started again, between the first two matches, the one that caught my attention was the match between Real Betis versus Girona. Michel squad started their campaign well, although the draw was less than satisfactory, but it was enough as their initial capital going forward. Many predicted that Girona would have difficulties this season, especially after they released the club top scorer Artem Dovbyk to AS Roma. Statistically, Girona was able to dominate the match against Real Betis, although they were playing away, this showed that they had prepared themselves well.

Besides that, the most interesting thing about Girona this season was when they played in the Champions League for the first time in history, a journey that many people have been waiting for. I agree that Bilbao manager Valverde made mistake by not bringing in Nico Williams sooner to boost their attack. Getafe strong defense and midfield made it difficult for Bilbao to create scoring opportunities. Valverde late substitution was too little too late and Getafe well planned strategy deserved win. Despite not converting their chances Getafe showed impressive speed and pressure making them formidable opponent. I hope they maintain this level of performance to cause more upsets in future games.

That's the hope, but for that to happen, some of the bigger clubs like Barcelona or Atletico will have to work harder to keep up with Madrid this season.
Not to say that Barcelona and Atletico are bad at this because we can see that with the conditions and the arrival of some players like Dani Olmo at Barcelona, Julian Alvarez and Sorloth at Atletico it will certainly make conditions better but in the end to keep up with Madrid with all the advantages that Madrid currently has of course it will be a little difficult.
Madrid is still one of the most favored clubs at the moment not only for domestic competitions but also for the Champions League so when expecting a fierce competition for this season then as much as possible Atletico and Barcelona must be able to be better and can maximize the state of the players they have so that La Liga becomes more interesting to wait.

I quite agree with this because Bilbao in this match is the favorite and indeed the advantage of playing at home actually makes their confidence strong but it is indeed a bit regrettable with the draw in this match.

They played with good ball possession and from start to finish we could see that Bilbao continued to lock down Getafe but Getafe's defense was also quite solid actually so it was difficult for Bilbao to do more in today's match.

It's still early they are still not hot to make a breakthrough but with what happened last season for Bilbao, if they manage to keep up with the rotation of playing in La Liga and Europa League then I'm quite sure they can still be a stumbling block in La Liga this season.

As I said before that Girona's performance was not bad in this match but in today's match we can see that Betis are quite solid even though they lost in terms of possession but in terms of opportunities Betis are actually far superior. but indeed their finishing is a little inconvenient especially with the loss of several players such as Dovbyk, Aleix Garcia and Savio making them quite confused in the finishing section because there is still no targetman at this time.

But although their main squad is looking very solid, I think they require a little depth in the main squad. Alaba is not doing very good as a centre-back right now, Nacho also left Real Madrid. I think they require a signing there to increase their squad depth.

My expectations for today are Athletic Bilbao to win and a draw in the Betis - Girona game. Keeping Williams in the team is really important. I think Athletic Bilbao will have another decent season.  

Girona has lost crucial players, that's the truth. However I don't think they will still be that weak. They have had a solid system working like clockwork you know. Michel is still managing the team in the end.

Yeah it is a bit odd to see the season in the La Liga starting on Thursday.    But do I have a problem with that. Not at all. The sooner the better!

Sometimes being the favorite in a game can change only when the manager had to make some decisions that he felt would be the best for the team, if Nico had started the game I believe 20'mins of the first half would have been the only time the Getafe team would have said they had a chance because the boy has a lot of energy to take on defenders and create chances for the team but Valverde still thinks Nico is still on holidays, keeping him on the bench is like he wants to try something without him. The season has started and upsetting the team spirit isn't permitted in any form, let your best play if you want to win a game.

Playing against Atalanta is always difficult in defense because Atalanta are strong in attacking and they shown it in the Super Cup match with Real Madrid. Real Madrid are stronger on paper and actually shown it on field and successfully won over Atalanta. Atalanta lost this match but they have nothing to regret after performed well in the first half and had chance to get an opening goal in early of second half. One Europa League title, one chance to play in European Super Cup, that is great experience and milestone for their club history.

Alaba will need some more time to get his best back after injury last season and Real Madrid still have time in this summer to bring one or two more defensive players to their club. Their attacking system is very good now but to win a battle, they need better defense system so buying some more players for this area is important.

Yes, finally the new Laliga season has started, I am very enthusiastic to see this opening match. Talking about this match, as usual Girona was able to dominate the game, but as we know, Girona had a very difficult time scoring goals. Perhaps the departure of Dobvyk, who last season was Girona's mainstay striker, was the main cause of Girona's lack of sharpness in the front line. This will certainly have a very bad impact on Girona, because from what I can see at the moment, there is no player who can really replace Dobvyk on Girona's front line. Even though Girona has currently brought in a new striker, namely Abel Ruiz, it seems that he has not been able to adapt optimally at Girona.
